I have had the opportunity to replace one end beam and decking on this . I also have helped with the lettering.
A wonderful short history on #1009. Thanks Kurt!! (and it is great to see your children helping you out on your C&S documentation adventures!)

Yes, my trusty camera-helper was a my partner-in-crime! :)
As a volunteer at the CRRM, it's nice to see some past photos of these pieces of equipment, beyond the pictures and such at the CRRM

I'm glad you enjoyed it. I wish there was a photo of 1006 when Bob Richardson found her in the junk yard at Buena Vista.
Thank You for this recording.

Thanks for putting this short history lesson together and sharing…Where we’re the replacement metal parts sourced from to restore this caboose.

Very good question. I know it was all done at the museum. Some have argued that some of its parts are not the authentic size for a C&S caboose. Beyond that I don't know any specifics. My guess is that they tried to mirror 1006 in Silver Plume which is the only fully (and authentically) intact C&S caboose in existence.
