I think you're missing the point of the show a bit. The whole concept of the show is to showcase how there are many ways to interpret, arrange, and perform a song. I personally prefer the original psycho arrangement over swja and even the rearranged version wendy performed here but I can still appreciate the different feelings they tried to convey through the rearrangements.

SWJA's version, to me, is like someone talking to themselves. It's raw emotion and it's you expressing your thoughts out loud without realizing it. Wendy's version is like you're telling someone exactly what's on your mind directly. One is sticky and holds weight, and the other is pointed and cuts clean. Can't compare two singers who play different games, but what a treat to hear both! Bravo!

I do agree with you! SWJA is like talking to me in a musical and magical way, like the emotion hits me hard. While Wendy's version is giving a straightforward feeling and kind a more refreshing original version🙌

Wendy could make it anywhere. She sings as well as anyone in the American music industry or anywhere for that matter. Hope she does more solo albums in the future.

Wendy is great, yes, but to state "she could make it anywhere" is naive. Many legit American citizens of Korean descent, idols and non-idols alike, all the way to the 1st gen, like g.o.d. Joon, the Jung sisters and Tiffany, Ailee, Jessi, and even younger ones like Eric Nam or NCT Johnny have to go back to their ancestral homeland to chance a career in the industry. Even BTS, world's current biggest act, are still called names to this day. There's talent, and there's systemic anti-Asian racism in the American music industry. That in itself is a wall too great to be broken by talent alone.

@@a.l.dvorak7271 Exactly. Wendy was very smart. She started auditioning for Korean agencies while she still lived in Canada. It's actually staggering how many Westerners will refuse to watch even a subtitled film. Shioli Kutsuna, who played Yukio in the Deadpool 2 movie, is actually Australian. But she moved to Japan when she was 14 because she knew she would have a WAY better chance of landing roles there.

SWJA's psycho arrangement is refreshing and different.. it reminds me of Radiohead's Creep towards the end. Wendy is a really good singer, glad she went on this show!

i read your comment as i listened to SWJA's performance and you are SO right. especially when she strayed a bit from the original's "everything will be okay" in the bridge. it definitely made the build up all throughout the song worth it, like the character was holding everything in before letting it all explode at the end

SWJA's psycho is so dark and i think it suit the lyrics. It's more torturing. I wanna hear red velvet sing this version.

im biased and still prefer Wendy's version since I typically am not big on the stylistic singing that SWJA has. But she was still a great vocalist and did justice to the song.

Agree, SWJA is a good singer too but I'm just not the biggest fan of that style of singing.

No matter how many covers I see of this song, nobody comes close to nailing that pre-chorus like Wendy! That section was tailor made for her! I really loved the other person’s arrangement though! It really brought out the sadness in the song while keeping the hope it encapsulates!

Psycho would sound perfect as a solo song or a group song too. But whenever Wendy sings it as a solo or with her group it sounds perfect becuase shes singing in it.

the way I listen to the versions : SWJA's ver is the sad side where the feeling is still new and we can do is just softly cry in the corner while trying to figure out everything that they've went through, whereas Wendy's ver is the acceptance and aftermath of everything has went down and has a clear idea that has happened. Both versions I love

I love the cover version. She’s very technical and stylistically different and it is jazzy vibe. It definitely doesn’t sound karaoke and normal people who goes karaoke doesn’t really sing seriously with amazing control like that. Her choices were intentional. I love both differently depending on my mood.

Wendy's version is seriously so good, like, cool and even more impressive than the original OT5 version. But, I kinda get why the opponent's cover got a higher score - we weren't there live in the studio, so maybe we didn't feel the same emotional experience as the audience at that moment. Still, just from this video, I can feel the emotion. She's really singing like she's telling a story about the ironic and toxic aspects of her relationship. Plus, the background she shared before singing, the gestures, and the stage setup really support the emotional vibe, making us truly feel those "psycho" vibes. SWJA trully served how psycho sinh while Wendy vers is how angel sing☺😊

Wendy never fails to give goosebumps to her listener, her voice is always so powerful. Her version kind of the same as the original version, but she owned it with her style.

I think RedVelvet Psycho is the best arrangement. No overloaded. That’s why mixing engineers / producer are important. All voices are 🎉

I still like Wendy's version. 😊

SWJA's arrangement and the way she sang it was so good. The emotions and just the way she delivers the song is so outstanding. The adlibs, the runs, and the way she changes the melody a bit is just so so good. You can really tell how experienced and how great of a performer she is.

I cried listening to SWJA, as always. I’ve never been in a toxic relationship but she portrays it so perfectly I felt like i was experiencing it firsthand.

This piece is one of my all time favourite, and I do really feel that it's officially stolen... The two versions has a different feel and for me the original is about a crazy fun youth couple, while this one draws more emotional feelings like literal slightly psycho couple who takes pleasure in crushing each other.

I love Wendy's voice so much! Love her swagger, too!

Simply based on the song's meaning, I'd go with SWJA's version more too. SWJA > Wendy's > OT5 imho.

Sunwoo Jung-a's version made me burst into tears. Wendy's version is so powerful. Red velvet's Psycho remains my favorite from their discography and always makes me want to dance and sing along. It was very enjoyable but I will always prefer the original and love them separately. They both have their own vibe.

Sunwoo Junga's version is like TALKING TO MYSELF on what I want to say to my significant other while Wendy's is like *HEY LOVER WE ARE SHIT AND I'M LOVING EVERY MINUTE OF IT*.

SWJA might not be for everyone but man she's phenomenal. She's not just a stylistic singer, that's a storyteller right there. Not all artists can pull that off.

Love WENDY solo version. No one can sing that prechorous better than Wendy. It would be a lot better if she could add the rapping too. But defender version is shorter and it must be similar to original version so I guess she had to cut it out.

Whatever happens, PSYCHO will always be iconic! Wendy's voice is very beautiful but SWJA's version really put a whole new world into the song. I really love it because I do really imagine the song in an acoustic version. So good! Edit: SWJA's version is a song of reassurance to her lover, that no matter what other people say, they will be okay and will stay the same. She'll love him no matter what and she loves the way they are. She wishes that nothing would change. On the other hand, Wendy's - the original, is like a martyr's song. Although she is hurt and he makes her crazy, she will stay. No matter how it hurts.

Wendy psycho, love in funky weird way... Sunwoo psycho, love in mysterious way... Both give me 2 different view of psycho love. Love both of them

I think SWJA and Wendy have such great chemistry between them and I loved just how different they sang the same song. I could see Wendy doing more soulful and acoustic interpretations of Red Velvet songs. I feel her company limits her, due to branding/ marketing of Wendy. I hope, as she matures, she can express these same types of feelings more in her singing style. Wish You Hell seems to point that way.❤❤

swja's performance was full of emotion i liked her version's arrangement and the note changes. as a reveluv i honestly don't see how her win was "rigged", she did great. i watched wendy's cover of swja's song as well and that's probably the best performance to come out from this episode so both of them did a great job at covering each other's songs and deserved their wins

Red velvet’s psycho is the best version followed by wendy’s solo version. Red velvet’s chorus just makes it sound heavenly.

Wendy fitted the band arrangement more. Her tone is just beautiful and notes are well supported.

My fave main vocalist in Kpop is Wendy. Psycho is my fave RV song and Wendy's voice is so perfect for this song. Her voice is so beautiful and angelic.

As much as I love Wendy, SJWA's version left a much deeper sensation in my heart!

I really like SWJA's version, she's less technical than Wendy, but it's clearly a choice not a lack of ability, she's choosing to put some personality and stylistic choices in there, almost like she's between laughs and nearly tearing up while explaining to the person that they're driving her insane and making her feel like a psycho. Wendy's version is what we've come to expect from her: clean, professional, highly technical... But she doesn't really inject new life into the song, she just sings it as RV sings it, of course we have no way of knowing if it was her choice or what was asked of her. Nonetheless, Wendy remains amazing and def the top main vocalist from her generation.

SWJA's version was so dark and completely different to the original version and maybe that's why i didn't feel it until she completed that 1st chorus in the song... from there when she increased the intensity, I felt her version !

wow what an arrangement by SWJA. I think this actually did make me forget the original arrangement so for me she did steal it. but as always Wendy's vocals are no joke and she sang an arrangement for 5 people alone.

The arrangement and take on psycho done by the other singer was just too amazing. Wendy, although great, sang it like how she would if asked to sing a snippet on a show. But SWJA really made it her own cover. Wendy managed to steal SWJA's song though and that cover was really stellar. So it was a nice win for both!
