The BYRRH Cellar in Thuir is more than a centuary old and is the place where the wine-based aperitif BYRRH is made. It was invented by two brothers, Simon and Pallade Violet in 1866.
Simon Violet was the most ambitious of the brothers. Thanks to his huge knowledge of wines, he made the wonderful recipe of BYRRH, which was first sold as a tonic. Very soon the Violet brothers met success and BYRRH's fame spread worldwide, especially in the 1930s.
You are invited to discover the remarkable story of one of the most important aperitif brand in the world. You will be able to walk through huge oak vats and see the world's biggest oak vat with its 1 000 200 litres.
