Great to see real owner feedback, the car reviewers seem to be latching onto the same spec sheet over and over again. I'd love to hear your thoughts on the interior build quality and more around the ergonomics of seats and driving position. I'm waiting for my Seal here in Ireland.

Upgrading from a 2017 Honda Civic, everything about the BYD Seal interior screams premium quality to me. The synthetic leather is not as good as my Civic RS leather seats, and I wonder how long it will last, but it still feels good and premium. Apart from that the seats are very comfortable, and this is my first car with ventilated seats. It's weird having fans blowing my back and my bum, but it's very effective in cooling me down on a hot summer day. I also love the 8-way electric seat adjustments, even the adjustment switch is made of some kind of metal, not plastic like my Civic. Yes, I can make very minute seat adjustments to my driving position using the electric seat. Dynaaudio is great, the bass is not very boomy, but the 12 spearkers are loouud. Classical and jazz music instruments can be heard quite distinctly as well. I am sure you will like your Seal. Good luck.

@@SkyPerspective thanks for the info, I'll be going from leather to vinyl in the Seal. Neither option available in Ireland comes with real leather seats and they're 10k more expensive here so it's a shame but hopefully the vinyl will hold up just as well. Enjoy your new car 😊

@@ateiviz It should hold up. At the very least, we have 6 year warranty. Did you get 6-year warranty in Ireland? Australia we get 6 years for the car, and 8 years for the battery.

The lighting inside the cabin is really well made! I like it. It looks like a really thought out and well designed car. No clutter on the dashboards but well placed physical buttons and dials where it makes sense / which you use all the time, like the volume control you showed for the passenger.

I test-drove the Dolphin too, drives very similar to the Seal except the Seal feels heavier when cornering and braking and also a lot more stable because it's lower, longer, and most likely wider.

Looking forward to more unbiased content. I’m looking at getting one next year but happy to hear the opinions of a fellow “techie” before I make a decision!

I enjoy your videos, very informative and and good to hear about features and realworld experiences that aren't just specifications that can be found online.I Just took the Performance variant for a test drive this morning (have a Premium on order). I loved it, i think the instrument panel was fine, not too cluttered for my preference. Much smoother ride than our Mazda SUV and Chrysler 300, and ofcourse the instant torque of the EV was definitely noticeable and exhilarating. I'm very excited to recieve my own. Looking forward to more videos.

Thank you for your content. The design of the center console is not about the grade but about the interior color of the car. Black interior will always have the simple and clean design and white or as BYD calls it blue interior has that busy design in the center console and the doors. Keep on making videos about the Seal.

I have a Seal Premium and was also pleased to see the outside courtesy light and the fact that the instrument cluster lights up when you approach the car while granny charging. But, if you enable the BYD app then you can check your charging progress from anywhere, it will also notify you when charging is complete.

Thank you for the review. When I test drove the premium, the sound system max out at 39 and sounded pretty quiet. Would love to know what you think of the sound system. Also, do the parking sensors work well?

Very enlightening. I don't know much about Tesla, but when I found out I couldn't get Android Auto, I stopped considering and researching Tesla. Looks like BYD really gives us a lot, like VLA and wall chargers themselves are a lot of value already. And really?? this sunshade cost $200+ ?? The build quality is good, but not $200+ good, I suppose the price is because of custom fit for Seal?

For reference your info is a bit outdated, M3/MY have both had electric boot for years now, the 3 didn’t initially but added it quite some time ago. The new M3 also has lighting strips. I think the important things you forgot are 1) driver’s display in front of steering wheel and 2) heads up display on any model above dynamic so you have the speed projected on the road

@@SkyPerspective There are always 3rd party items which are cheaper, buy i bought genuine Tesla Roof and Boot shades, so roughly $200 all up. BYD does provide alot of value. I still use Waze on my phone on the wireless charger in the Tesla for Nav. I see no issues with not having AA.. but i'd love for it to have an update (not holding my breath).

I am glad my video is useful. Atlantis grey changing colour is really interesting, it's like the car having it's mood under bright sunlight or dark car park. If the black is matte black I would definitely go for it. Dynamic 18 inch is good, takes on road bumps like a normal car. Performance and premium come with 19 inch, but only the performance has selective dampening suspension. With 19 inch, it's thinner and we can feel the bump a lot more compared to Dynamic's 18 inch. Performance intelligent suspension kind of compensated for it. I have never driven a premium before so I don't know how it feels with 19 inch without dampening suspension. Dynamic is good enough for me. If you can afford go for Performance.

looks so good. I'm in Sydney NSW Aus and dying to get one as my first EV / luxury vehicle too. One thing I'd like to know is how is the assisted driving and/or parking? Any auto steering? Auto parking? That stuff's fun. Also have yoiu considered installing a dashcam or asking a technician to do for you? And how is the HEAT of the glass above? I hear it's crystal coated unlike Tesla's which is way better for keeping cool in Aus summers.

Probably a bit of everything but I was more interested to see beam spread pattern, high beam performance, the light technology ie matrix led? Beam assistance?

Please test the airconditioning in extremely hot weather. Test how quickly the cabin cools down and you could measure the heat in 10 or 5 min intervals. Also test the seat cooling function if it has cooling seats. I'd appreciate it as I live in a hot climate and don't care for heating but a very good aircon is very important. Thanks for the video.

Just a couple of days ago I parked my BYD Seal in the hot sun to charge at outdoor charging station. That day was about 33 degrees, super hot. I switched on the air con using the app 10 mins before I go back to my car. When I reached my car the inside cabin was nice and cool. It's not freezing cold, but nice and cool. The air con is very adequate given most of the time I don't need to put the sun shade in this hot Australia summer sun. With the sun shade, the air con can cool down till very cold.

The carbon finish in the center looks way better than the black colour, its all about preference i am about to take delivery of performance model, the base is way to slow.

Could you do a video on charging feedback or maybe a small roadtrip

Yes, I am aware of the windows, but heat is not an issue in the car so far. I haven't had the need to put on the sun shade even in Australia summer times. I put them on to save air con energy. I have driven the performance and dynamic, and in terms of road noise on highway, they are pretty much the same. No wind noise on dynamic. However the dynamic's suspension are harder when it comes to road bumps because it doesn't have the intelligent suspension system like the performance. I would imagine Premium might be worse because it's bigger 19 inch and doesn't have inteligent suspension.

Hi, on average how many km's are you driving each week? do you find the 'granny charger' is sufficient for your use or will you be installing a 7kw wall charger?

I charged from 57% to 100% last Tuesday and Wednesday (1 week ago) over two nights using the Type 1 charger (granny charger). Today is Thursday. and I still have 36% left after driving ~300km. At this stage, I don't plan to install the 7kw wall charger at home, and I am not even planning to get the Type 2 charging cable to charge at charging stations. My baby (or granny) Type 1 BYD charger should be more than sufficient if I charge two nights a week every 1 to 1.5 weeks. I can also leverage the solar system I have at home. Slow charging is healthier for the battery too.

I'm interested to know why you chose the entry level Seal rather than the mid range one. Seems like you get quite a few extra benefits from paying 10K more.

Wanna know ground clearance. Especially on rough roads or road bumps? Do you scratch the bottom part very often?

No, I seldom scratch the bottom, the ground clearance is good. I never scratch the bottom part between front and back wheels, so my battery is all good. Very occasionally, I scratch the bottom in front of the front wheels, there are two spoilers underneath taking the scrapping so it's all good.

Ive been trying to decide on the color and realized that the showroom atlantis grey has a slight color difference between the bumper and body. Does your car have the aame issue?

Mine doesn't have this issue. I read same issue of bumper discolouring happened to someone's Atto 3. They took it back to service center and byd fixed it for them free of charge.

Hows the Air con perform in our Hot Aussie weather and also without the sun shade does the heat penetrate thru the roof glass.

Drove a performance on a test drive, the glass roof was warm, 30 degrees outside, the cooled seats are excellent and car was cold inside, no problems with that, car was very quiet, more than T3 that I drive regularly.

And a smooth drive and ride too. There are a lot of misconception about EV can only be driven with one pedal driving will cause motion sickness, I would say they haven't tried BYD. BYD tuned their cars to drive like Petrol car, even the regenerative braking feels like engine brake effects very nice and gentle. The voice and speech recognition is very good, but it cannot do a lot of things. For eg I ask it to open the boot, she says she can't do it yet, meaning she understood me, but couldn't do it.

The instrument console color is not related to Dynamic or Premium. You get the matte black when choosing black interior. You get the glossy black when choosing Tahiti blue interior. Either way, third party sites have many options if you want to switch.

I think the front bumper light strips "whiskers" of the seal make it look very unique. I don't like them at the beginning, but it seems they have grown on me.

Apologies for late reply, hope you have made your decision. The reason I didn't go for the Premium is simply because I could not afford it. And I don't need most of the Premium features such as longer range and HID. I only miss not having the Continental tyres.

@@user-bw8sp8cd9s If you are going to be an idiot and charge your EV inside your garage, and even worse if inside your garage is actually inside your house, then be less of an idiot and install a smoke alarm over your car that is interconnected to the other smoke alarms in your house. That way, when the battery goes into thermal runaway whilst charging - and don't delude yourself that "that will never happen". And despite Musk's LIES, it happens to LFP batteries, too. If you have that smoke alarm at least you'll probably have 15 minutes to get your children out of the house and to safety UPWIND before your house burns to the ground.
