Great list & I like how when you said how things should and shouldn’t look and then did cuts of examples of what you mean. Keep that up so we’re able to know what to hear or look for

Thanks great video right to point
Since most people pour dollars into a Jeep, look in the desert southwest. You can be sure there's no rust. Not even the beginnings of rust. Since it's dry here, it won't have been submerged in mud or water either. Water ruins bushings, bearings, front end parts... everything. No below zero engine starts. No condensation in the engine oil. No water contaminated trans, transfer or axles. It's MORE than worth it to take a trip. It'll save thousands.

I had a CJ many years ago, IT may be the road I took it on since the guy had no plate so put on his car plate for me to drive it but just felt it rocked side to side a lot driving, steering felt ok but will drive again today,
Just bought a 2005 Rubicon. ALL STOCK. Going to keep it that way. I built a 97 Wrangler. I upgraded everything, but this rubicon is staying stock.
Super helpful video. What would I look for on a manual transmission? Tia

Any luck as yet?
Check for abnormal wear on the front tires - baldness on the outside edge of the front tires can indicate a bad Viscous Coupler in the transfer case, bad upper and lower ball joints, or both! New tires, ball joints and repairs to the TC could amount to well over $1000!
I’m looking for a “Fungus” for my daughter and I to work on. Thanks for this video!!

Great list! Oil pressure is important too. It will give you an idea about engine wear.

Great info! As a best practice, what would be the average mileage to ensure that the jeep will still give you peace of mind in the years to come? Thanks!
What about a basic manifold vacuum test and reading of OBD2 sensor CEL codes, fuel trims, timing advance, water temp, MAP etc. They will tell you a LOT about the condition of the engine.

YJ's are pre OBD2. You have to do a sequence with the ignition and key to get the engine panel to read the codes back to you.
Leaks at the diffs transfer case trans, engine
With The YJ Jeeps, what is your opinion on the Renix engine management verse the Chrysler OBD1 engine management? I hear Renix Jeeps are difficult to diagnose.
Live in Nevada not much frame rust

Is this the first one you’ve driven? Jeeps do have a different feel. Test drive a few, so you can compare 👍🏼

I got a good suggestion don't buy a Fiat they're nothing but a money pit ever since Chrysler got bought out
Compression test … dry, wet & leak down
You didn't mention checking for leaks. Some leaks are easier to fix than others

Why not learn to shift?
If all of what he mentioned is good. Look for paying around 12k for one in today’s date
I just bought my first jeep, grand Cherokee 2004, clean as fuck, zero rust, interior spotless, 155000 miles, had a cracked radiator, so I put a new one in, new thermostat, oil change, checked all the gear fluids, transfer case, transmission, everything is good, then put a 3 inch lift kit on it, first time I took it above 50 mph, death wobble, so I check all the ball joints for movement, drag link was very sloppy, so now I have one coming in the mail tomorrow, paid 5000 for it, and just keep pumping money into it

There's no way in hell I'm buying a modern Jeep because they're all basically garbage what I'd like to do is buy an old Jeep but I just don't know how old do I need to go to get something that is in a pile of crap
Tip #1. Don’t.
Just don't buy one it's a money pit
