@@rhobbs9417 Look, artists spent a lot of time on their art. Have you seen the amount of tools Evan and Katelyn have? How much they cost? There is a reason why Debbie must have put the price that high. Don't think artists aren't people too. You should know by now watching these videos. Also, no one is forcing you to buy her work, but don't dismiss someone's hard work like that. Creativity doesn't come easy. Lastly, I'm not an artist at all and I can't even draw, but recently I came to the realisation that artist are people who need to feed themselves, if I can't afford to buy then I shouldn't and just mind my own business instead of blaming their need to feed themselves and how expensive their tools are.

I love resin, but I have worked with stained glass...and let me tell you, stained glass takes a LOT of skill. You guys did awesome, but knowing what went into Debbie’s artwork, I’m afraid I have to go with the real stained glass ❤️

@@MissCaraMint yes! Very true. I find it hard to explain to people who haven’t worked with glass, but there is a completely different feel to it, isn’t there?! (It’s not just the weight of it either, although that is definitely part of it). I still work with both, but the supplies for stained glass have gotten a little more difficult to get in my area, so I’ve had to stick mostly with resin the past year or so as that’s much easier to find right now - hopefully the supply issues will improve in time. 🙂

I haven't worked much with glass, but I am very interested by gemstones, and many of my favorite ones have a similar feel to them as glass. Like hardened silk I often think. I wish I could work with stained glass, the most I've ever done is glass beads.

Don't buy golden retrievers, they are a scam. I had mine for a month and he just brought me some grail, he didn't even bring me any gold. What a load of bull. :/

My jaw dropped when you guys revealed your finished version for the first time. Then it dropped again when you revealed Debbie's original. Awesome all around the board!

@@jerrywhidby. Are you really sure that alcoholink contains ipa? Because ipa can have some nasty sideffects. Its really easyly absorbed through the skin. This would be odd to have it in pens & jars without the proper warning symbols.

Skulkx alcohol ink contains about 20% IPA according to D&L Art Glass Supply, it does warn that this is a skin and eye irritant and to wash well if it gets on you though.

I think both the Buy and DIY came out wonderfully, but it was super satisfying looking at Evan’s shirt through the stained glass where the resin was too muddled, so I would have to give the win to the stained glass as well😁

The red might smell like fish because a lot of red colors are made with fish scales. At least with cosmetics.

The Christmas before last, my gran and I were at a gift shop, and they had this really adorable wooden sign that she really loved, but we didn't get it because it was priced at like $50. I decided to remake the sign for her, but I did it on thick cardboard because I didn't have wood. She loved it, and it only cost me a few dollars for paint. We still put it up in the house at Christmas.

When my parents bought their 3D printer I was in charge of taking the things the printer made out of the platform and I remember my hands being full of band-aids for days jajajaja

I love your guys’ take on the piece! it looks like such a fun and pretty project and puts such a personal touch on decor. I definitely like the look of the wood with the resin. When it comes to which one is better, I think it really depends on your price range though. Either way, the craftsmanship of debbie’s piece absolutely looks worth the money! and I’m glad your video gave her shop the credit so even more people could find her beautiful work.

I was thinking next time making another wooden frame, use the frame to create a silicone mold to have a pour-in version with a metallic resin, and then fill the empty spaces with colors (or galaxy) of your choosing! Then create to your hearts desire. Best of luck!

Thanks for the tip about the poly base. I pour cribbage board blanks and I've been using taped over hardboard for the form. I then pour the blank about 1/2" thick, drill the holes using a Rockler cribbage jig. I then make a wooden base for the deck of cards and pegs. I attach the epoxy board to the base using a sliding dado arrangement.

@13:00 that final shot of just the clear resin looked so satisfying already... so pretty and clean!!!

i think you should factor in shipping time for the time on the DIY! and time it takes for the crafter to make it since some people don’t have items premade!!

That time can't be equated to money. But I get you, especially when you need something on a tight deadline, then it's handy to whip some decorations up before visitors arrive

Commenting on an old video, but I enjoy seeing the difference in Katelyn's editing skills as the years have gone by. She has improved so much and these videos aren't even bad at all, they are still so amazing. I'm so happy to see what they've done and how they'll improved over the years.

I feel like if it were made with thinner wood and stained a bit darker shade, it would look much more ‘artist made’ I was genuinely so surprised with the rainbow comparison!!

It really is!!! My work has gotten so much better since I started watching these two!

Use aluminum or brass square stock. Make your form by super gluing the frame together, pour the epoxy which will really hold the frame together and call it good.

As someone who's taken a stained glass workshop, I think u guys would really like it! It's not very dangerous or heavy on power tools, but it's really simple once u get down to fundamentals!

Never underestimate pride in your own work and how that adds value to the DIY item for you personally.

If I used the scrapper pointing toward my hand like that I would be going to the ER to get stitches. I have always had the bad habit to cut, or use tools going towards my body. It never fails. Love the videos I'm a over the road truck driver im home once a month at the least and these DIY projects are great to do with the wife and kids and it makes family time so fun and theres never a dull moment. Thank You for doing these videos.

For your base you should use a silicone mat. It'll be way easier to remove from your projects. Any leakage can be sanded away and if you sanded the resin all you have to do is just put a thin layer of course and it'll shine right back up. Just giving some advice from my oopsies. ❤️😸

That's a start!

Love it! You can also use pvc binding covers at the bottom of your work with resin. It doesn't stick to resin but it's flexible so you can easily remove your product and it gives a nice shine to it 😉

I loved this video, but I feel like it’d be more respectable to only try DIY mass produced items instead of small creator items. to me, DIYing an etsy creators work and showing ppl how to do it takes away from the OG creator, who will suffer more from that loss than supposedly a big manufacturing company. EvanAndKatelyn no keep doing this! It will get the artists traction if there product is good, and I don’t think you have to worry about other people getting fed up at the artist and trying to diy there own only you two would spend this much time on a product you could buy completely done!

100%!! As an Etsy creator, I’d be sweating a lil bit if I watched someone else make my stuff! But I know you guys have the purest intentions we love you two:)

It looks good. I love stained glass windows & projects, but the wood really has a nice warm aesthetic. And Katelyn, you are a winner! 👍🏼👍🏼

I really liked the resin one! It was so unique. I've never seen anything like that done with wood! I watched this because I'm about to attempt my own faux stained glass with resin so I only hope it turns out as good!

I saw on Peter Brown's videos that he heats up his scraper before trying to get glue off the wood

Seeing it Rainbow makes me more confident to do a stained glass using Resin, for something the size of my patio door.

I prefer the one they made. The wood gives it a nice earthy vibe and the how the light is fuzzy when it goes through is very pleasing.

Great idea, love the wood!! I was contemplating doing a stained epoxy project also. I have a tube of a fo-led thats acrylic and comes in a tube and looks similar to solder. I was thinking of drawing out the design with that and then fill with colored resin. Tip with epoxy, always use a hair dryer, torch or even breath on it to pop out bubbles ;)

When Mark Rober’s theme pops up- Fk yes. I love both of these youtubers, they’re both my favorite

Have to say yours looks like the NBC logo when the light goes through it.

And now, I want to see you make that out of candies. Each panel it’s own flavor. Bound with clear vanilla. Yum!

I really like this, as I have a home project that I was thinking I would have to buy a lot of stained glass materials to do and instead, I will just do a stained resin method instead.

The DIY looks more retro where as Debbie's looked more modern. Personally I like the DIY better.

Brilliant project guys really brilliant!! Well done. The Debbie piece is so good, it’s classy, it’s beautiful, it’s what it says in the advert. Now yours wasn’t however whilst not a win it was so very very close in its different evolution. You did so very well guys you really did and all alone on my settee I was laughing out loud at your antics I had a wonderful evening in with you two, thanks Bob
