The marvellous thing about Buxtehude is that he employs a distinct style for every instrument or ensemble. If you hear an organ piece by Giovanni Gabrie4lli, it has the same melodic development and structure as his processionals for brass. But Buxtehude's organ works are absolutely specific to the organ, and unlike his trios, his cantatas, etc., each of which has its particular character. Speaking of his organ works, at least 4 of the 7 volumes os the complete works, organist René Saorgin (1967), are available on KZread. Brautiful sound engineering as well as beautiful performances.

Awesome performance. I like the faster tempo, it's supposed to be moderato but a lot of arrangements slow it down. I think the livelier tempo really feels better.

We don't usually get to hear works by Buxtehude for instruments other than the organ (at least, I've only found a couple on KZread before this one), so this is a treat.
