Do you know how much weight is the wings?I made a similar 「servo butterfly」,select the KST MS320 servo as your video, but the extent of flapping is not enough. I think maybe the weight is key?(Ps: I used a 2mm thick carbon fiber rod as a main power skeleton, 1.5mm for the others and sharpen the ends of wings to increase lift)

How much is the total flight weight? My wing weight is about 30 g for 2 pieces. My butterfly is lacking thrust, and it is in a state of being flying somehow. The wind is blowing like the everyday in the current season so we can not fly test.

Thanks a lot! Our servo butterfly wing is 15g now and we scrapped the Wings ending. Now we believe that the instigating range of wings maybe the key issue. Now our wings flap is 40 degrees. but it looks servos can't reach the preset angle after loading. We will keeping test it ~ thanks for you help~

I can not help it much. Because my butterfly is now It is in bad condition. We are struggling with unknown cause. I think that it is necessary to continue efforts without giving up. Let's keep up good work.

I think we have encountered your problem too: the butterfly suddenly uncontrolled crash down in mid-air. After several servos were burnt out, we draw a conjecture that It may be due to the overheating of the steering gear that caused the crash. So we put a temperature sensor on the servo to detect this data. I hope using this way can verify our conjecture. If there is any update I will continue to leave you a message here~ Also wish your project going well ! good luck

Wonderful. The flight dynamics give a wonderful body language mimicry, in the same way your two winged models emulate a hawk,

Does the flight controller do all the processing, or do you need a special transmitter?

It is a transmitter for ordinary radio control airplane. The model I use is Futaba T8FG.

Ok. Do you think I can use a DX8 for such an aircraft?

Signal output width may vary depending on the manufacturer. If the state of the output signal is known, if it is set according to the signal width by programming I think that it becomes usable. Basically, only 3 output output channels are used.

How do you control the directions?

  • @y.takemura8488

Angle is attached to the mounting position of the servo for direction control. By changing the center of amplitude of the blade in the left-right direction, the elevation angle of the blade and the blade angle on the tail side change, Perform direction control.
