Nobody sounds more scared of hell than an atheist.. the thought of hell never crosses my mind until an atheist talks about it. It's like you're so scared of hell that you want to convince yourself that God doesn't exist. Do you really think that people who believe in God want to do what you people do like murder and crossdress your children , has man on man relations. You become a tourist attraction. Even Steve Martin sang about King Tut! In Egypt they wrap you in cotton bandages and bury you with a cat... But you get to live in the afterlife for eternity of feasting and women..." Jesus: "There is a better option!" Me: "Yes, Mount Olympus! Sure I'd have to go to Greece for feasting and drinking and beautiful women... " Jesus: "No, no ,noooo. I mean in Heaven! Me: "So what's Heaven like?" Jesus: "In heaven, you wear white linen robes and sandals. There's not a lot of fun, but you get to watch God. God is of course omnipotent, but, kind of needs or wants, well, needs you to love him for not putting you in the torment he devised in case you don't love him... " Jesus: " You get to wash and kiss his feet!" Me: "Yuck, that sounds like it would be hell!" Jesus: "No... It's Heavan! Me: "You spelled it wrong!" Jesus: "Shut up!" Me: "I'd rather go to Valhalla! "There's endless drinking... There's endless feasting... " "There's sports and fighting... You wear leather and steel armour and helm, your sword, knives and shield by your side... It's a place to brag about your great deeds... Your Dogs and War Horses are with you... They have Valkyries and beautiful blonde athletic shield maidens... and of course you are in armour and the ladies and shield maidens, they love that stuff! As long as you know the Riddle of Steel it's all Good! Wine, mead, women and feasting! What's not to like?" Jesus: "What size armour do you think would fit me?"

I asked my mom this question. She watches preachers all day long on her tv. She never even considered that idea. She says god must give special privilege to those who are ignorant and grants them eternal life. "But, what if you're wrong ?" My answer : there is absolutely no way that the way god uses to decide whether someone's soul will go to heaven or hell is if they are a christian or not. That's something a cult leader would say, not god And considering how many things in the bible are trying to explain something in nature and we know that's not it, god must also be really dumb to not know how his own creation works (random example : rainbows are promises that the flood won't happen again, Genesis 9:12-17. Note that this quote also kinda implies that the flood was a mistake by god, but god is supposed to be perfect)

Pascal's wager assumes the god of Pascal is the only option. A god like that may have once seemed reasonable when you were born and lived in a village or farm and knew virtually nothing of the world's history or culture. The modern world gives us a wealth of knowledge about these things and makes the idea that your particular god is the true one that much more unrealistic and unjust. I'll take the wager that a god that can create the universe isn't going to be petty and needlessly cruel and will either cure everyone like a doctor and everyone goes to heaven or just not provide any afterlife for anyone and no one's the wiser anyway. Everyone wins and we all find out or everyone loses and none of us find out. I have no logical reason to assume an unjust god, theoretical or real.

I agree that Pascal's wager is horrible. Pascal was clearly a coward, but I believe his proposition was more a sort of 'when in Rome do as the Romans do" thing, that if you live in a society that has a particular set of religious beliefs then following with those beliefs (even if you don't really believe in the basis of those beliefs) will secure you at least a less complicated more stable and acceptable, and possibly even prosperous and enjoyable life. I think Pascal knew that all people secretly and silently doubted but were generally too cowardly to speak up and admit it and went along anyway because perhaps some others really were hearing God speaking to them. Of course today we now know that people hearing voices inside their heads are in fact crazy and in need of treatment. This collective cycle of delusion does prompt me to ask, why is it that Christians are so eager to convert non-believers? If they truly believe they are destined for the 'best heaven' why would they want everyone else to be there with them as well? Perhaps it's because they in fact are not sure that what they believe is true and having a bunch of other people believe it to, reinforces their own wavering belief, like, if I can get others to believe what I'd like to believe, then it must be true. Does that make sense? It's like repeating a lie often enough will make others accept that it is the truth, making it the truth. That's how propaganda (and cults) works and we all know how powerful that can be. A Christian who in fact has absolute knowledge (I think the theological term is 'assurance') would in fact shut up about their belief for fear of ascending to an over populated, less worthy, polluted, heavenly plain when they die. I am convinced that the church itself encourages proselytisation because it knows that it is selling a lie, or at least something that has no substantiation in fact or reality, and at least it is good business when more people accept the whole tithe guilt trip thing. This fundamental doubt, and the sense, that I have no doubt everyone has, that it might be a hoax after all, is the most powerful reason why, if it turns out not to be a hoax and that there is in fact a god and a judgement day, that that god is in fact the most despicable evil depraved disgusting entity ever to exist, and who would want to spend eternity with that. The alternative proposition, that when we die at the end of a life hopefully well lived and thoroughly enjoyed, there is a peaceful nothingness, is much more desirable, acceptable and believable, and of course, that way, no one will feel disappointed.

  • @fernlovebond

Sir Robert Anderson devoutly believed that the Bible was the inerrant word of God, and in that popular 1894 book, a companion to his Daniel in the Critics' Den, he mounts a defense of the prophetic Old Testament Book of Daniel, an early example of apocalyptic philosophy in Christianity. Basically a guy wrote a book. 🤦‍♂️

Is there any atheist out there who believes the origins of Life came into existence without creation without God? If so please provide evidence to why you believe that. And if I'm not convinced in return I will provide evidence to why I believe in God and we will see which one is more logical. But if you don't believe the origins of Life came into existence without God please let me know there should be no reason why you should have a bias you should be willing to tell me. PS I'm not asking you what you know is true I'm asking you what you believe is true. PSS please don't ask me for evidence to why I believe in God unless you have the belief the origins of Life came into existence without God and are willing to provide that evidence first. This is because the nature of atheism is an unwillingness or inability to accept ,no quality of evidence can convince someone of something they don't have the willingness or ability to accept This is why while I'm willing and able to give evidence to why I believe in God on atheist threads and two atheists I don't do it unless they provide an argument to why they believe the origins of Life came into existence without God first if that's what they believe
