Busy Philipps Refutes the Clickbait of the Abusive James Franco Story from 'Freaks and Geeks'

Ойын-сауық

Busy Philipps wrote in her memoir "This Will Only Hurt A Little" about an incident on the set of "Freaks and Geeks" where James Franco mistreated her, and even though it had been aired in public prior to the release of her book, she received a massive backlash.

She makes a really interesting point about how, even in stories with her's which aren't about men or only include men for context, the reaction is always about the men's perspective or what the men thought. Even if it's a man abusing a woman, the public focuses on what HE did and why HE did it, not what SHE went through or how SHE overcame it or what it meant for HER. The man ends up being what the woman is remembered for. That, to me, is why this issue isn't as simple as "stop being sexist!"

Hollywood seems like a filthy place. How tragic. If you wanna be an advocate get the fuck out and achieve your passion on your true merit wherever. Your talent will prove that. I don’t know how you could forgive an abuser, maybe that’s just me. Gross.

"women have to be better than men to get the same respect". As someone that has worked with many women in different roles, it's literally the opposite. The expectations of them are so low Id actually feel insulted if i was one of them.

They should reboot Freaks and Geeks with a new cast set in 1984 ( after the original cast has already graduated). It could be a series like American Horror Story where each season is a new cast/ story line. Of coarse it would have to be done by the original behind the scenes people that created the original. That is the only way you could reboot this show. Or even remake it set later and some of the original cast could be in it as older characters; imagine Neal or Bill as a teacher

I don’t know about James Franco being genuine in his apologies when he still mistreated his students at his former acting school. He did it the past and then apologized and then did it again years later and apologizes again. People are stupid to believe him and provide him that blanket, that’s why no one is held accountable for their actions for many years.

Ofcourse the media is going to focus on that part of the book because you're speaking about an incident where a well known celebrity shoved u,that should have been expected..Why are celebrities still surprised by how the media operates and also James Franco was 20 years old at that time People make mistakes when you're young both men and women
