Business Canvas Model developed by Alex Osterwalder and Yves Pigneur

Canvas Business Model
The Canvas model was developed by PhD in Management Information System Dr. Alex Osterwalder and PhD in Information system Professor Dr. Yves Pigneur.
Business Canvas Model is a tool for creating a pretty clear business model using just a single sheet of paper. The great thing about the Business Canvas Model is that it can be used to describe any organization - from the largest company in the world to a startup with only one employee. It also makes no difference whether the organization is in the private or public sector.

Even though models are explained very well in my uni books, I find your examples really good in helping me remember lots of information. Thanks 🙏

Thank you for sharing. I liked the fact that you used your own company as an example. I am in the financial industry and have struggled to apply this Canvas Business Model to banking. Can you do an example if you are a small credit union with limited staffing and resources?

@tictaxi. Thank you for your kind words. I don't know your industry other than as a customer. So I cannot go into detail about your problem. A classic way to start the model is with customers and then asking yourself how we get in touch with them - i.e. which channel should we use. Next, we ask them what gives them value? If we give it to them, we achieve a relationship with the customers. Next, we must examine whether we have key resources and activities internally. If not - we must investigate whether we can get some partners who can get it for us. We must examine whether the income from the products exceeds the expenses. Another classic way is to ask yourself what value we can create and then ask yourself if there is a customer segment that has that need and will pay for it. I hope the above makes sense, and I wish you the best of luck with your further work.

@Uros Stankovic. Thanks for your kind feedback. Nice to hear from a user. Value proposition = USP - unique selling point. It's basically the same. Osterwalder also points out that you need to hit the right audience with the right value. See 3:01 Value proposition We hope you tell others about our channel and subscribe to the channel.

You can place a question here. However, it is not certain that we can answer, but perhaps one of the other active users of the model can answer you.
