Bush Hog Job with a John Deere 790 Tractor and 5 foot King Kutter (Part 1)

Ойын-сауық

Bush Hog Job with a John Deere 790 Tractor and 5 foot King Kutter rotary brush hog (Part 1) This overgrown field of trees and brush was completely clear when I was finished bush hogging. In this 3 part video I show you how to bush hog on a John Deere 790 tractor. I did have an issue with my John Deere Yanmar Diesel engine overheating (Part 2) and I show how to fix that in Part 3 video in this series. I also show how to drive a tractor with a bush hog and how to bush hog with a tractor and prevent John Deere tractor overheating the engine (Yanmar 3 cylinder diesel engine) especially under the load of clearing land.

That’s some easy cuttin’ there. It’s thick but it’s easy. ALWAYS run the tractor RPM at the 540 RPM mark on the tachometer gauge when you have a PTO driven implement. That’s how you get the blade tip speed on the bush hog, how you get the max power out of the engine, and how you keep the tractor running at it’s coolest temperature. I’d love to of had that job with my Massey Ferguson 231. Those are the kind I enjoy. I personally would of done it much different than you did, but so would the next person. I love bush hogging and watching bush hogging videos. It’s my favorite thing to do with a tractor. Thanks for the video.

Travis Ricks thanks for commenting. It’s like when I mow a yard, each time I learn and mow it differently and more efficiently. In this case I had no idea what i was in for, like the tree I found down in the back center. I’ve bushhogged places that had logs and stumps and cinder blocks and wondered why someone didn’t think about that before they left those there.

I have one as well. I go in third gear low range 2400 rpm in heavy brush like that. I keep the bucket down and curled up as well. I would rather bump rocks with the bucket then hit them with the brush hog.

Mine is a 2005. It’s just big enough to handle medium jobs. Definitely good for a 5’ bush hog and on hills

Can't let trees grow on power line ROW! If you hadn't cut it, then the ROW crew would've eventually cut it anyway. Good work though, I have a 2001 JD 790 and use it on hunt club property mostly. That was some pretty thick stuff though!!!! How much did you charge for that job??

For some reason the power company wasn’t maintaining this property. I cut it twice in two years, $700 then $600
