I’m not sure if I am in a hurry to get my smell and taste back. I eat less and have lost a few pounds since I’m no longer craving the things that I used to love. I mean, it’s sad that I can’t smell bacon. But also, now I just eat for substance and getting bored with food.

Hi all!! I also got Covid for Christmas! My friend’s niece tried the orange thing and said it didn’t fully bring back taste and smell, but it did help some. My hubby is a fireman and works for 2 departments, so he is bringing me some oranges when he gets off from one job and is heading for the second one tomorrow unless he can slip away and bring me some this afternoon. We do not have a gas stove or a fireplace, so I am either going to have to try to burn it in the oven, or build a little cooking fire in the yard. Either way, I am looking forward to trying this. I have been without taste and smell for 8 days now. I just made some pasta with a little Italian dressing and noticed I can tell it has tangy vinegar in it, which is way more than I have been able to tell thus far. I wish everyone who is trying this all the luck! How is everyone doing with other symptoms? I have just been really tired and have a little cough with some chest and sinus congestion and I haven’t had any fever. The first couple of days I had terrible pain in my hip joints, but that cleared itself up by day 3. I am taking loads of zinc, vitamin c and d and Mucinex. I am washing it down with Powerade (the kind WITH sugar, not without) and tonic water (for the quinine in it). This all seems to be doing the trick. Btw.... I am 49 and have a hx or allergic asthma and lupus, so I am relatively high risk for complications. I’m praying it doesn’t get worse because as of now it’s just about like a mild cold. I’m also a medic at a fire department and several of us are off with Covid right now. As mild as my symptoms are, they are way worse than what the others are experiencing. I’m saying all of that just to give folks some hope if they still haven’t caught it. Because of my medical hx, I have been very afraid to catch it, but because of my job, I knew it was likely inevitable. Take care everyone!

@@ryans.8861 Hi Ryan! I am feeling much better, but I sure hate that you caught it! I pray that it’s very mild for you and no one else catches it around you! I should update this comment with all the new developments. I went for a re-test this past Friday and got a negative test result! The doc told me I am no longer shedding virus and therefore no longer contagious! That happened just in time for me to be able to go to my little grandbaby’s second birthday party! And what was even better than that was my taste came back yesterday just before the party, so I was able to taste my cupcake! The loss of taste ended up lasting 11 days! I did the orange trick the night I made the original post and believe it, or not, it worked for my sense of smell!! I used 3 control scents to test it. Prior to eating the orange, I was completely unable to smell coffee grounds, chili sauce and eggnog. (I know what a weird selection that was, but it was just the first 3 things I thought of! Lol!) After consuming the orange, I retested myself and WAS able to smell all three items! None of the smells were very strong, but I could definitely smell and identify the scents, so I am going to declare the orange trick a win if you only have anosmia. (Actually.... it’s just a win, period, because it ONLY claims to be able to restore the sense of smell! I didn’t see anywhere where it claimed to restore one’s sense of taste. So, other than some lingering tiredness and congestion, with a little cough, I am feeling pretty good! I appreciate you checking on me! And again, I will pray that you don’t get very severe symptoms either! You are what.... 4 days into it now? Maybe the worst has passed for you. Good luck to you, my friend! ❤️

Do it at least four times a day. Everything I found on it, started that the sooner you started doing it after symptoms start the better the results. Praying it works as quickly for you as it did for us. It took 3 days for my youngest to completely regain his sense of taste and smell. My oldest son took only 2 days, the same as me. I just used everyday products...ground coffee, cinnamon extract, garlic powder, and a sliced onion. We're all started faintly smelling the coffee the 3rd time we did it. By the 5th time we could all faintly smell everything except the onion. By the end of the 2nd day we could smell all of them. We continued to do it for 3 days after everything was back just to be on the safe side.

Hello, I just wanted to message and say that this is much less the orange and brown sugar, and way more the fact that you are giving your sense of smell "olfactory training". You are using key essential oils such as eucalyptus, mint, and other smells to activate the sense of smell. Do this 3 times a day. Add lemon to the mix as well. This training will help a lot!
