Burnout in Photography

Resilience in Photography - Landscape photography.
Well here we are, a video at last! How long has it been? Too long. Why has it been so long. Life happens, the wind blows and the rain pours. After this vlog I had to take a step back to recover and rest, I have been working two jobs to the point of exhaustion. I didn't actually realise in this video I was burnt out, it's interesting to watch. I was apprehensive whether to release this as the audio is so poor and the photography isn't my best but I think the message and content is important. Take a step back if you need to and follow what makes you happy. I look forward to creating more videos as and when life and energy allows. I want to keep the quality of the channel at it's best over releasing more regularly, I think that is important. Expect to see less videos but more of a better quality. Thank you for your patience and following my photography.

Welcome back. Nice video and essay. Stay rested and nourished. I'm convinced that our bodies are not intended to do shift work. It's very draining. Take care. 👍🥂

One of your best and heartfelt video contributions. However just one point of niggle lol. The Malvern (prounounced Mulvern) Hills are predominantly in Worcestershire, Herefordshire and only a tiny part in northern Gloucestershire!!!!!! Keep up the good work.

I appreciate your comments about not putting pressure on yourself. I struggle with having motivation to go out to photograph. I have been diagnosed with depression which I am taking medication for, but sometimes it is easy to feel down. I get tired of having these issues but I am making efforts to go out with a friend of mine who is also a photographer. When we do get together for an outing, it feels great. Love your music and honesty!!😁

I just discovered your channel, I'm two videos in and I am already invested. Just wonderful content and presentation but I just love your honesty of what we all occasionally can go thru in that chase of a nice photograph. Even a seasoned enthusiast of several decades I find your videos inspiring so far. Keep up the fantastic work Suzannah, from a new subscriber 😊

The simplicity of the tree photo with the misty hills in the distance was beautiful! And I definitely understand that pressure to produce/create. I’m happy you recognise the value in letting your joy come first.

Welcome to my home patch. The Malverns may not be high but they are steep! I was down at the south end a couple of weeks ago and took a shot very similar to your birch tree with the hills behind. Good to see you so cheerful. I do hope you have recharged and got your energy back now. Some great shots as always.

I’m happy I found your channel and YES that you posted this video even though you mention the audio and your photography are not the best. I enjoy authentic vlogs rather than near perfect, cinematic ones and sometimes the photography doesn’t work with us.

So nice to see you back Suzannah! Isn't that warm spring light glorious! I try to get out in the dead of winter here in Ontario, but my fingers freeze so quickly, even with good gloves, that it's just not fun at all. Those photos of the lone tree are both unique and beautiful. Love both! That adorable coo definitely wanted a hug! I smiled through this whole video. Thanks Suzannah!

Yay! You're back! I was beginning to wonder where you'd disappeared to! Missed you! XX You're right though.. the pressure to create isn't worth your wellbeing! I think that's why I've not made a career from photography and why it's only ever been a hobby. I know the moment I try to make money out of it I'll have to do it whether I like it or not!

Yup, can relate to the whole 'struggling to get out and do it' thing. I have pretty much limited my photography to shorts and t-shirt weather as I hate being cold. I do kick myself sometimes when there's a spectacular sunrise or something...maybe I should make more effort? Also agree about the hills...that's why I mostly stick to beaches and seascapes. Much flatter! Nice work though :-)

This video show me why not to go out. When looking outside my house, it looks like in this video 5:19 but without the hills. Just flat and more boring. Now I´m even more depressed.

more quality and less quantity from you tubers in general is required ... nobody wants to watch the same mindless rinse and repeat content each week, we the viewers would prefer people in general to take more time and care to plan and produce their vlogs ,produce a decent story board , think about a theme and or message or lessons for each monthly video and take time to produce your best work, just as you do with the images ... ... 1st image was very nice ....btw ..... don't feel the pressure to feed the beast .. do your own thing, their are people like nick carver /ben Horne, Bryan burks, Steve o'nions, matt day , Paul c smith, Kyle McDougall, mike grey , as well as channels like art of photography and three blind men , all publish vlogs very randomly ... its becoming the norm , people are not Robots, or production companies and the machine @KZread@ and its dumb rules and algorithms shouldn't push you or pressure you into it a weekly or by weekly videos ... its just ridiculous .... people should set their own time frames to suite themselves and we the audience will either enjoy the content or we won't ..... peace and luv .....Namaste :D

Some wonderful aerial footage, despite the wind. Not normally a fan of poetry but this felt perfect. I think we're all tired after the long, dark winter. I've been out photographing in the bright spring sunshine. Harsh light and contrast but loved it. Do the amount which you want - YT shouldn't be either a burden or a dread. As long as you love the essence of the photography and videography that is all. Losing and regaining your mojo is natural. Rest, recuperate and come back when you're ready. (Love the hair colour BTW).
