Burn anything in Blender | Realtime Eevee dissolve effect

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Hello guys! This is my first tutorial ever, so bare with me.
Modifier stack 0:11
Material setup 2:31
Geometry eraser 8:48
NOTES:
- you have to turn off rendering, if you want to erase the geometry (camera icon in the outliner)
- you have to copy all nodes in material editor for every material you want to dissolve (as I do in 8:23)
- if you are using geometry eraser, you have to bake dynamic paint before rendering
The model is from Turbosquid, you can download it on the link below
www.turbosquid.com/FullPrevie...

    Hey Pavel, Thanks a mil for the great tutorial, its an awesome effect! Just a quick question, is there a way to get all of the little embers to completely dissapear after scaling up the controller? For some reason when scaling it up it leaves a bunch of emissive particles that are small but still noticible no matter what size i scale too.... I have the scale applied, no double verts, no normal issues. :D

    Hi Alex, I am sorry, but I somehow overlooked your question. You can only make them disapper using mask modifier I've shown in the end of the video. It's not possible to make them disapper as you would expect, but this is the downside of this realtime approach. And the reason why is that when you displacing polygons (making them smaller) there's not "zero state", so those polygons get flippe dand starts scaling up again :)

  • @pavelolivaart

    @pavelolivaart

    3 жыл бұрын

    Hello Aniket, try to read through the comments first as some people had the same problem. It might be caused for many reasons such as scene scale, dispalcement strenght, empty scale, not assigning vertex group, not using edge split modifier before (on top of modifier stack) displacement. If any of those solutions wont help, we can try other solutions ;)

  • @pavelolivaart

    @pavelolivaart

    2 жыл бұрын

    Hello, it should work even on more complex simple meshes, however keep in mind, that number of polygons limits "the resolution" of those disconnected pieces. So a cube with low polycount may produce weird results. Also you have to use edge split modifier to make those faces be able to disconnect each other :)

  • @kenjibailly
    @kenjibailly3 жыл бұрын

    I've repeated the tutorial over 20 times now (first 1 min 30 secs), but it doesn't want to work for me. The weird thing is, there's a new button that looks like this () next to the Vertex Group in the Displace modifier. When I click it, it starts to "work". Unfortunately it works inverted, like this is intended I guess. Which means that the empty doesn't need to touch it or even be near it to impact the displace. When put over the figure, it doesn't reconstruct though. So It seems to work, but not like intended. What could I be doing wrong? The vertex group "dissolve" is assigned to the entire object, checked with select and deselect.

  • @pavelolivaart

    @pavelolivaart

    3 жыл бұрын

    That button just inverts the influence of the vertex group. In 0:53 I've inverted it using those 2 input fields, so keep in mind that to do that as well ;) .... also keep don't forget to use edge split modifier, that should be above the rest of the modifiers to split the geometry. I would suggest to check the comment section as there were similar problems before ;)

  • @kenjibailly

    @kenjibailly

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@pavelolivaart I checked the entire comment section before posting. I did recheck them, I put the edge split modifier in different positions again. I also tried to change the other position of the modifiers, but that doesn't help. What I did do from your comment is reverse the lowest and highest. So the lowest is 0 and highest is .37 (cm here instead of m in your video). This cancels out the reverse button I had to click in order for things to change. Unfortunately I cannot get my object not displaced. It's always displaced, if I change the empty's position, it will change the displacement, but the farther from the object, the object becomes invisible. When putting the empty sphere right on top of it, it gives the same result as it being very far off. So my problem is: how can I make sure the object is NOT displaced when the empty isn't touching it or far away from it like in your video :s Thank you for commenting btw, I appreciate it a lot! Hopefully I could find out why I'm stuck here, cause I really like your method of using the displacement :)

  • @kenjibailly

    @kenjibailly

    3 жыл бұрын

    I found a solution! When I put the "lowest" to 37 instead of .37 cause in your video it says "m" and mine says "cm", it finally works now. I thought it was a different problem as it did displace, just not how it's supposed to. Allright, I'll try to follow the rest of the tutorial now! :D

    Sadly doesn't work anymore in the latest version of Blender :/ Followed step by step but nope, whole body deforms instead of the spot on the controller.

    Hmmm, weird. That should work. You may not assigned something to a vertex group or some vertex group is inverted :) In 0:44 I selected every vertex and assigned to "dissolve" vertex group. Also check, if your model and an empty are set to 1,1,1 scale :)

    The shading editor is not clear in some part (example for to connect the nodes) and the word is too small to watch ! example is: 04:32 clamp connect to which node? 05:08 noise texture connect to which node? 03:59 substract connect to which node? 3:34 gradient texture connect to which node? ........ I am so confused! I learn Blender 1 year! This is my second time to give someone negative feedback.

    Thank you for the feedback :) In 04:32 it's a math node set to multiply, in 05:08 it's color ramp node, in 03:59 it's copied the same node and set to multiply (math node) nad in 3:34 it's also math node set to add....math node changes it's name based on the math operation ;) I agree that commentary would help a lot, but my mic and english is trash :D

    This tutorial isn't even a 'tutorial'. Please make one where you go step by step and explain what you're doing. I'm having issues, and because I don't know what's going on, I can't pinpoint the problem.
