Many people will know the Forest of Dean as a beautiful woodland area, but it is only by understanding what lies beneath that you can really appreciate how the people living and working there influenced the development of the landscape over time.
This ‘Buried Heritage’ project provided an opportunity for local people to expand their knowledge of archaeological and other historic features to build a greater level of understanding about the heritage of the landscape. In this film the team explain what they learned and walk us round one of their archaeological digs.
Foresters' Forest is a National Lottery Heritage Funded Landscape Partnership Programme to raise awareness and participation in the built, natural and cultural heritage within the Forest of Dean, 2017-2022.
