I had the very enjoyable pleasure of seeing this Buran in Germany. So to see her in action and flight in these rare films, is a joy. Such films are so important to preserve aerospace history and such a valuable source of material for those that have an interest and love of such things. So thank you to whoever made the viewing of these possible. You are doing a great service to the aerospace community.

This is not the buran, the Baikal was the flight test bed. So you are watching the Baikal

Very nice footage. You don't exactly find videos of the Buran every day, so thanks for uploading. That exact Orbiter actually is now in Germany in the Technikmuseum Speyer. :) Greetings from Germany

I've heard that US Orbiter might have had jet reactors, during the early studies. But they were dropped later,in favour of the actual concept, build on six specimens (counting "Enterprise",although this orbiter didn't flew in space like "Columbia","Challenger","Discovery","Atlantis" and "Endeavour").

I’m going to take a wild guess…. NASA copied the Soviet Union’s blueprints to design our Shuttle. 😂😂😂😂😂😂

I wonder if we will ever have the real story, from both players, about how the two uncannily similar platforms came to be. There can be zero doubt that much copying was involved, based solely on the superficial. My guess is that spying on the part of USA and Soviets took place on a steady basis. A shame we couldn’t have just collaborated officially.

Actually this was automatic no pilots needed ...way ahead of USA then. It could re-enter on auto pilot. In fact America used Soviet rocket engines from mid 1990s until recently. Closed cycle engines which recaptured wasted fuel pump energy the most poweful reliable rocket engines until space x So don't mock Russia..

Yes, the Soviet did steal NASA shuttle blueprints, and they decided to upgrade the shuttle design by altering its components

Tu columbia no tiene nada que hacer al lado de Buran. Sabés algo de física? Sabes algo de mecánica de fluidos básica?
