His Majesty's Tenth Regiment of Foot in America is a historically re-created infantry unit formed to portray the service of the British Army during the American War for Independence.
Composed of three types of soldier, Grenadiers-typically larger men who were used as shock troops, a company of Light infantry, generally smaller, more agile men--capable of maneuvering in the dense wilderness to skirmish or flank the enemy, and a battalion company--a company of regular soldiers, capable of mass volleys and were the heart of the army and were trained in both Grenadier and Light Infantry tactics. We also have a company of Music, who provided music and commands to the army. Lastly a Corps of Civilian Volunteers--who provide the food to the regiment during encampments and accurately portray civilian and camp life of the 18th century. Each is open for recruitment. The members of the Tenth are accurately uniformed, equipped, and trained in 18th-century military drill and life so that we appear in public as members of the British Army would have in 1775. I've trained with and fired muzzleloaded artillery fieldpieces, and I recognize the distinctive sound of fired projectiles as they suck in air behind them on their flight. How did they get that terrifying sound at this reenactment? I assume the 10th Regiment (I was a grenadier with them long ago!) were not fireing solid shot.

    I’ve got following auestions about your regimental flag: What is the regimental colour‘s staff diameter? Does the flag itself consist of different parts sewn together or a single piece of fine cloth painted in the right colours? What cloth was used for the flag? Is the staff made from a single piece of wood or pieced together? What kind of wood was used? Thank you for sharing this intense reenactment with us!

  • @HM10thFoot

    @HM10thFoot

    2 жыл бұрын

    Hey there, thank you for watching! Here is the info you asked for. The Staff's diameter is 1.5 inches, made from two pieces of fur wood held together by brass connectors. The flag 6'x6.5' is made from multiple pieces sewn together. We have a nylon set that we use for most events, and a full silk set that we use only on special occasions.

    @@HM10thFoot Thank you for answering! I have some more questions…. How are the laceloops made to all be the same size? Form where do you source your drums and how are the buttons at the top of the vents sewn on? And finally, why do some Coats in the video have bastion loops? Thank you for having answered my first message. God save the King !

    People say whenever you see a muzzle flash pointed at you, your dead, but in battles you can’t always see the flash, people just guess when they have been hit like if they have been standing in an easy place to get hit

    As a reenactor it depends, often its up to the individual to pretend to be dead. At bigger events, "deaths" are scripted to reflect the casualties of the actual battle. These decisions are made beforehand by reenacting organizers.

    As a reenactor you often play dead when you want to. At bigger events there's more organizing how many are "killed."

    A company that's been good to me is G Gedney Godwin of Valley Forge, Pa. Mr. Godwin passed some years ago, but his Daughter has carried on the business. Much of their Stuff is hand-made by hobby-craftsmen and a bit expensive, but I can tell you -- my Scottish basket-hilt Broadsword is still going strong after 20=plus years. Just DON"T get in a hurry: ReEnacting is Not an overnight thing.
