Bunch of Rulers Forged into Damascus - This knife rules
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Thanks for giving 20 minutes of your worthy time, I hope you will enjoy this process.
On the Public demand I forged a Damascus Cleaver But the challenging part was stainless steel forging with Carbon steel. I used Rulers for making the Billet and most of the rulers belongs to martensitic Stainless steel family which are rich in carbon content but magnetic also.
The Core of Cleaver was made of 5160 High carbon steel and the outer layers were ''Rain Drop stainless steel Damascus''.
I made this Japanese style cleaver for my own use and it is NOT FOR SALE sadly but very soon I am launching my store so, stay connected to enjoy the beautiful stuff.
The handle was made with Japanese style, using hard wood with hexagons texture.
The guard was made of 304 grade stainless steel which is very durable against rust attacks and belongs to austenitic family but has low carbon content.

Beautiful work. I was a little confused at first when drilling the pivot holes but then after seeing the pattern I completely understood why you did that. Big fan of your work

@@tadaaaa952 1095 may be a fine blade steel, but it wasn't tempered nor was that a proper heat treat. Using plain water makes it brittle. What he used in the video certainly looked like water to me anyway.

I hope he tempered off screen. Especially for a chopping knife lol. Points on the creative san mai technique though. May not be traditional based on what I've seen, but effective nonetheless and achieved the same goal.

@@tadaaaa952 1095 is outdated obsolete high Maintenace low performance for a knife steel. The only half decent thing about it is that it's tough as nails so if and only if you treat it correctly AND grind the blade thinly enough, it can do decent, but still a kitchen knife, even a veg chppoer like this, doesn't a very high standard for toughness. Basically if he did this right, in terms of heat treat and grind, it can be okay, but still rusty and will go blunt at the edge faster than basically any other steel. The good news it's easy to sharpen, very easy, and will likely never experience edge failure or chipping. Folks dont understand.. the reason those forging steels are selected isn't because they're the best steels for a knife, it's the totally opposite. They're chosen because they're the easiest for a human to hammer on all day, back when knives were made in such a crude manner. The best steels for a knife literally can not be hammer forged period.

@@tadaaaa952 Even the most low grade stainless aka chromium steels have a lot more "edge retention" than any carbon steel, and even the low alloy steels like 52100. It's not an opinion, it's a fact. Find me one person in the world that is making knives out of those high alloy/stainless powdered steels you mentioned using the same process you see in the video. It doesn't exist. You're going to burn your puny little forge and power hammer out before you figuratively make a dent, and the end product would be garbage. That's not how this works. Those steels can only be made by a handful of companies and only be forged by a handful of mills in the world. I could make and forge 1095 in my backyard. Knife makers who work with those materials buy them and grind it into a knife. How much better is the end product? Well, it can be a lot better in various quantitative and qualitative ways but for one thing "better" is a preference and also most users don't actually "demand" very much from a knife anyway and thus don't need all that, so it's often just for bragging rights basically.
You're truly a man with many skills. The blade is a thing a beauty. Awesome work.
through the years of watching you ( and that's 4 years) you have never failed to impress. good job.
I just love the way how u make new and cooler weapons by scratch ✨✨
I've started watching you during Covid-19 pandemic, to be honest you started from scratch with very few materials and equipment, but a lot of talent and creativity, I congratulate you for all the hard work, it is well deserved, Hope you will prosper even more, Beautiful piece of blade you made here !
Great job on a gorgeous blade! Your knifemaking skills are absolutely amazing, and so is your leatherworking. Thanks for sharing.

That is some gorgeous Raindrop Damascus my good sir. I'd be proud to have that in my kitchen.
I find it extremely thoughtful that when you bind the steel to another piece you kind of blur it so it doesn’t hurt the viewers eyes. I appreciate that a lot. Also this piece turned out beautifully. Your work is amazing ❤
Wow, it’s nice to actually see someone that knows what they’re doing on youtube

This is one of your best so far. The damascus really pops. I like the sheath making, that's unusual on this channel, and the waxed leather technique is a new one to me.

Absolutely beautiful. ESP the part that serves as the barrier from the blade to the handle. Awesome shape design. I’ll be watching more as this is something I’ve always enjoyed, especially the restore videos.

What a beautiful looking blade, great job.
this is an incredibly beautiful cleaver - one of the nicest i've seen in quite a while!
Every time I watch your videos I learn something new !!!! Great blade Brother.
That rain drop pattern looks amazing you made a very beautiful cleaver.
Hours, days, weeks, months, years and decades of educational experience has allowed these men to create works of brilliant art! 😊 It's incredible that the new minutes, hours, days, weeks and months to create this beautiful masterpiece is documented and condensed into a 20 minute video for us to watch and marvel. It's incredible TWENTY MINUTES make this look so simple and easy, but omg the real time and tooling and skill and effort it all took to create this amazing cleaver is sooo awesome, I've run out of praising words! It's refreshing that such trades exist amid the politics and drama of western life. Once again, thank you guys for what you do!!!
Man your works on blades are getting more impressive each time😊😊😊😊😊😊
Absolutely beautiful result! Well done.
Awesome skills! It was fun to watch process. I liked how you used a ruler to measure on top of the forged rulers. I like that kind of "irony".
Amazing transformation! I'll never look at my steel ruler in the same way again!😆
The most beautiful knife I have ever seen, you sir, are a true professional.
2:56 the irony is just too funny for me 😅
I remember using the same kind of rulers in art class in school. And I always thought they would look cool.If someone made them into a knife or a sword!
Wow completely package, amazing skill, beautiful blade, good looking, i like the design, almost perfect done, thank you❤
It's amazing Craftsmanship like this that makes me wish schools weren't slowly getting rid of wood and metal shop classes
Thank you for choosing Japanese knives from among many knives! From Japan🇯🇵
It would be great if you could add short text explanations/descriptions letting us know what process you are showing us and what ingredients/chemicals/substances you are using.
Incredible skill and workmanship. True work of art
Just a stunning cleaver, knife for life. Makes me want to make my own, keep up the amazing videos 👍
Restoration videos are capable of evoking feelings of nostalgia. They remind us of the craftsmanship and attention to detail in the past 👍👍👍

My respect for you increased when i knew you're from my country, Pakistan❤
this video made me learn that damascus is made almost exactly how i expected; by slamming a bunch of metal together in specific ways until it looks cool
Had to leave another comment, loved you welding that tang extension. Hate seeing all these blacksmiths afraid of fixing there knives with welding. A good weld is as good as a bar from the mill
That turned out absolutely fantastic keep up the awesome work
This is a work of art. I almost cringed and didn't want him to cut those vegetables and chicken. Just keep them in perpetual display. Beautiful. God bless.
Gorgeous Damascus line. Good job congratulations.👍👏👏🙌
Beautiful knife. Great job as always! Master
That cleaver is beautiful, and if it's taken care of, it'll still be beautiful in 500 years.

What liquid did you use to make the patterns clear
ive recently watched a load of the tv competition show 'Forged in Fire' & i like the show i found it interesting and have learnt a lot watching it. One Fine Japanese Cleaver and sheath I Really enjoyed watching the video and seeing what you created so thank you very much for sharing

But if you watched Forged in Fire, you should know that this Blade is not a forged Blade. He only forged the Rulers into the Damascus and then just cut the Steel into shape. It’s still a lot of work, but not forged!
I love your work. I'm a Carpenter and I saw you push the wood block through the Table Saw without a push stick. Blade wide open. I did that myself being very skilled with power tools. The wood I cut got snagged and whammy I lost a bit of my right Thumb. Please brother don't ever do that again. It can go wrong. Keep your fingers use a wooden push rod always. Fingers don't grow back.
Lol I didn't know you were from pakistan .. GREAT TALENT THERE God bless u and your skills
Beautiful product 👌🏾
Beautiful as always
You guys are proud of Pakistan. I belief that you live in Punjab and Lahore Wish that will love to meet you. The Talent you guys have is that doesn't to introduce yourself. Internationally people watch your videos and they are so satisfying to watch without skipping a second is simply a great achievement and a slap over daily Vloging content creators. Love you Guys so much
Very Beautiful piece!!!
That's one of the most beautiful and clean pattern I've seen

The dimming of the welding on screen always cracks me up! 😂

Amazing beautiful art. Cheers 🙏
Well done. The result looks so beautiful.😍😍
Absolutely beautiful craftsmanship! What a stunning blade, I'd be so lost in the pattern I'd forget to go cut something.
beautiful knife, great job man, what kind of spray do use for the wood-handle in this vid??
thats a sharp ruler 🙋🏻♂️🥸
i hope this was inspired by nanami in jjk because making his classic weapon out of rulers is just too perfect!
Bro knows how to recycle items. Excellent work 👏
Creativity in making handmade knives is definitely a high price, craftsmen really like their work 20:32

You know that this is not handmade? He used the Power Hammer to forge the Damascus and then just cut the cleaver out of it. The only things handmade are the guard and the handle.
