Bumblefoot - Don't Know Who To Pray To Anymore [Official Video]

Музыка

“Don’t Know Who to Pray to Anymore” from the Bumblefoot album "Little Brother Is Watching" [lyrics & info below...]
Clocking in at over seven minutes, “Don’t Know Who to Pray to Anymore” is a true return to form for the epic music video format, with storyline footage showcasing characters in various stages of life, from childhood to adult, hitting an emotional 'rock bottom', faced with a life-changing choice. The stories are left open-ended, so you can ask yourself what choice you would make.
"This song speaks for those that feel lost, betrayed, disillusioned, when we question all we believe in. When we start to lash out, and punish ourselves. This is a song about being in this place, in our own personal purgatory. We know we need to heal, but we're not ready to let go."
Directed by Vojan Koceic, “Don’t Know Who…” was a massive undertaking, filmed in three countries at 12 locations, including the Western Wall in Jerusalem, and gaining exclusive access to ancient Roman ruins by the Jordanian border, with the distinction of being the only music video to ever have been shot there (filmed by Director of Photography Ami Bornstein). Additional band performances were filmed in Croatia at the Fortress of Klis and the Diocletian Palace (locations seen on the TV show "Game of Thrones"), plus an additional 8 sets and featuring more than 50 actors.
“This video needed to be filmed in locations that have a deep historic and spiritual presence.” says Thal. Additional filming locations included The Grianan of Aileach Ring Fort at a hilltop in Northern Ireland.
LYRICS:
Don't Know Who To Pray To Anymore
Once upon a time a child
Grew up too fast, went runnin' wild
Now he don't know who to pray to anymore
I once thought God was good and kind
Then Mother Nature blew my mind
And left my broken body on the floor
Now I don't know who to pray to anymore
But when the world gets real
And I start to feel
The first thing I do
Is turn to you
And then pull away
Until comes the day
Where I just can't live
And learn to forgive
I've got a song that needs to be sung
But I don't know who to play to anymore
We bet away what's in our hand
And then we're told it was the plan
They say all's fair, but someone's keeping score
I've seen it all, I've seen the lies
False promises for compromise
Fought every battle, but still I lost the war
Now I don't know who to pray to anymore
But when the world gets real
And I start to feel
The first thing I do
Is turn to you
And then pull away
Until comes the day
Where I just can't live
And learn to forgive
I know I've changed
Can't find my way
When all is dark
Or is it my heart
That won't come to the light
I'm bad to myself
As a show for you to see
So maybe you'll agree
That you should have been there more for me
Got an old guitar that needs to be strung
But I don't know who to play to anymore
So why should I still believe
When everyone's out to deceive
And all our dreams get washed back on the shore
And fate will prove to be most cruel
Yet hope remains for the helpless fool
Pawns of selfish right & righteous wrong
No I don't know who to pray to anymore
I don't know who to pray to anymore

There are a million singer / songwriters that can play guitar, and a million guitar players that can write songs and sing, but I can't remember a guitar virtuoso that can write soulful meaningful songs like this guy. Truly a one off.

Normal and abnormal changed my life, they've been my fave albums since I heard them but little brother is watching blew me away as soon as I heard it. I've had various (and ongoing) health problems and this song hits me right in the heart every time I listen to it... This video is awesome and totally does the song justice. Legendary guitarist, singer, songwriter, producer, philanthropist and the best bit, he's too humble to admit it... All hail bumblefoot! Legend.

I first heard him playing in Guns N' Roses. I saw him tour with them in 12 years ago. His style is a bit different than GNR and I didn't think he was a great fit for that reason only. However, he is the most technical and intelligent guitarist I have ever heard. Not until today did I realize he can also sing very well too. And this song shows his musicality, vocal ability and song writing skills all in one. He is truly special. I also watched a video of him talking about harmony and it was the first time I ever found a lesson like that so useful. He made something that I always struggled to understand seem easy now. Thank You! You are truly the most talented musician I've ever heard. You can play absolutely anything.

The more of Ron's videos I watch he more I like him, both as a guitarist/songwriter and as a person. And it's great that someone who can out shred the best of them plays with such restraint rather than spending the whole time trying to impress us with how many notes he can squeeze into each bar. This is music.

Everyone has that certain style of music that raises chill bumps and causes their soul to sway internally to the external melody- This song and many others that come from the hands throat and mind of Ron Thal do that for me. Awesome work, incredible message, soulful but with that ragged edge that just... rocks. Thanks for enriching the world with your sound man.

Man I've been going down a Bumblefoot's rabbit hole and been listening to him almost exclusively these days. This man never misses, such an incredible guitarist. That bit he did with the ebow on the Herman Li stream was pure musical genius. I've always found him incredible since listening to Piranha and Guitar Sucks. Crazy technique and musicianship. Bumblefoot never misses.

Like David St. Hubbins of Spinal Tap says(regarding Yngwie): "Why bother playing, might as well use my guitar as coffee table". I'm getting the same kind of thoughts when it comes to Bumblefoot. That being said, Bumblefoot is DEFINITELY an inspiring guitarist - even if I have 1/10 of his guitar abilities/capabilities, I'll be one happy person.

This video is where I've been so many times & the words so close to home, do you mind me downloading your songs to listen to around the house & guess what CD I'll be buying next year? I've never been much of a Guns N' Roses guy because I like more of a heavy sound like something like old Three Days Grace or new Breaking Benjamin or Five Finger Death Punch would release. Music like that. But this song is incredible. I look for meaningful lyrics that actually have meaning in them when I listen to rock music. I found them. Thanks, Ron.

It's been a long time since we saw a rock act put out a video of this kind...adds so much to an already great song! That solo was absolutely balls out and an absolute killer! Lots more to come I hope...

Bumble - you know I'm one of your biggest fans , but even I can objectively say that was FANTASTIC ! :) It may be my favourite song on the new album and I really enjoyed the video - it matched the song so well and I think it was such a smart move to leave everybody hanging at the end ( its up to each person n' their own choice I guess ! ). Also love all the huge panning shots of you playing :) Hope to hear it live on the road next time you're in town !! God Bless ;)
