I met him at TNA Slamaverary in Nashville. I saw him after the show and said hello. He asked me to keep it on the DL because he wasn't signed there, and he didn't want to make a scene. I said that was cool and talked to him for about 10 min about his work and how much I enjoyed it, then he said "Hey what the hell, do you want a picture?" Of course I said yes! He was FANTASTIC, a great guy! He wasn't there getting paid, wasn't trying to sell merch, just happened to be there and took some free time for a fan. He is great in the ring, great on the mic, and was really great to an older fan, nothing but LOVE for Bubba/Bully Ray!

My favourite thing about Bully's interview style is he always involves the person he's talking to and asks for their opinion. It even puts them on the spot a little bit because it's a position they don't normally find themselves in but it really goes a long way in making it feel more like a real conversation.

Aces and Eights trying to recruit the broken down AJ Styles then having the music switch to get ready to fly and AJ returns as a face, was my favourite storyline segment in recent memory and Aces and Eights in general was the best faction I can remember until The Bullet Club. Everything from their debut to the AJ storyline to Chris Sabin winning the World Championship. TNA did a lot of things wrong but they also did a lot of great things when you look back at it

Whenever I watch a new promotion I'm not familiar with, I pick a guy to follow the journey with. Chris Saban was my guy, when I first got into TNA. TNA's greatest accomplishment when I used to watch was the X-Division. That's what really made them stand out at the time for me. I missed out on the Aces and Eights storyline. Because for me, all I saw was Ex WWE guy's doing the old NWO angle again, but in TNA instead of WCW (for me, been there done that). My only regret though is, I just regret missing the opportunity of leaving and not seeing Chris Sabin winning the TNA World Heavyweight Championship, when he did it live.

I was working ad a big and tall store and his sister came in looking for clothes for him. She said that he would be coming to pick up the clothes she bought. I was always an Edge and Christian fan. Because I saw them as the underdog in their triangle Dudley vs. Hardy feud. It's amazing to see the evolution of all three teams from their first feud together, until now. All were successful in their own respective rights, all are thankfully still alive today. People for some reason want to see Edge Vs. Jeff Hardy at Wrestlemania next year. For me, I much rather see Edge Vs. Jeff Hardy Vs. Bully Ray, TLC, for a world championship, in the main event. To me, that's what I consider full circle.

I don’t know why, but the idea of Bully Ray booking a territory greatly interests me. I don’t think he’d go in the direction of an ECW, opposed to many people’s perception of the guy, but I think he’d book a territory that would mix classic NWA, modern New Japan, and a little bit of Ruthless Aggression era WWE. Production value and characters of NWA, the hard-hitting style of New Japan, and the promo-style and backstage sketch style of Ruthless Aggression era WWE.

If anything, Chris, this interview wasn't long ENOUGH! I was glued to the screen the entire interview! This is probably my favourite interview because Bubba is one of those guys who just gets how the business is and how it SHOULD work. He has a vision of what WRESTLING fans want to see. If he were in charge of any sort of wrestling company, I'd give my money to that ALL DAY. Phenomenal work as always , Chris. Hope all is well with you and your family and I'm glad you're keeping us wrestling fans entertained throughout these times. Looking forward to the next interview! Cheers

The memory of ECW and it's legacy has far overgrown it's original state. ECW's fans were very loyal, despite there being very few of them. But, by the end the matches sucked, the storylines were unoriginal, and simply put the WCW & WWE production value couldn't be denied.

@@SmithCommaBenjamin I still watch ECW Pay Per Views on a nightly basis because of the factors you stated. It always was and always will be considered guerrilla warfare wrestling. With the simple fact being, ECW didn't have rules, it didn't need rules, the fans kept ECW going. It was honestly refreshing knowing they didn't have a Rock, Stone Cold, Hogan, Sting, etc.. I could honestly say that Heyman was grasping for straws in the final years of ECW. But like any good promoter, he made the best of what was left to him on a shoestring budget to work with, not knowing if his RVD, Taz, Dudley Boyz, etc.. were going to be there the next night or not. It didn't need high production value, when obviously it had lasting appeal value. It echoes that sentiment when the fact is, it's better than anything currently being produced right now for wrestling. AEW has that ECW appeal though and it's not about the talent really, it's about the fans and what they want from their product. I love ECW because it had heart. It knew it was at the bottom of the barrel wrestling and it did what it could, with the fans being honest about what was happening. ECW fans are the original "smart" wrestling fans. They helped evolve WWF and WCW from "grandpa" wrestling, into a hardcore more gritty style and mature setting for wrestling. You have to remember WWF back in the New Generation era had cheesy character gimmicks that were god awful. WCW were stealing WWF talent because it couldn't create it's own talent at the time anymore. NWO management and the political "favortism" hierarchy killed WCW before it could create new talent to utilize. Paul Heyman just couldn't manage paying his talent and that's why all the talent left. ECW became shitty because it conformed into something it wasn't supposed to be, having rules and to be watered down wrestling (even WWF/ECW Brand). Love it or hate it, ECW helped elevate and evolve professional wrestling into the best product it ever came to be (use the ratings system as proof of that for WWF/WCW). To say ECW sucks is belligerent. Who's running WWE right now? Not Triple H (with the obvious superior WWE product in NXT), but the man who bankrupted his own company ECW into the ground, Paul Heyman. Paul Heyman is running Monday Night Raw, the flagship brand of WWE. Now whether the product is good right now or not, is a topic for another time and place. Vince obviously runs the company and makes all final decisions on the product. But Heyman is in charge right now. That's who Vince McMahon trusts as his frontrunner for his company, not Triple H, not Eric Bischoff, not Vince Russo, not Hogan, not Nash, not Jeff Jarrett, and definitely not Dixie Carter (if I missed anyone of any significant relevance I apologize). Paul Heyman, the same man you clearly claim to have an inferior product to everything in wrestling.

@@SmithCommaBenjamin Good point....but depending on what style of wreslting, ECW may have alot of good matches and shows to see. PPV for PPV they're my favorite wrestling of the late 90s. If i pull one up on the Network i'm more than likely to enjoy it more compared to a WWF, and especially WCW one of the time.

  • @SuperHyphyOne

@@SmithCommaBenjamin latter day ECW matches sucked? The ECW presentation at that time moved away from the violence and evolved more into a work-rate based product. There was still some of those matches, but not at many as there were before. Just because people weren't getting beat into a bloody pulp on a nightly basis doesn't mean that the matches sucked. The in-ring work was still far superior to much of what was going on in WWF and WCW at the time. If anything, it was the repetitive matches because many of the ECW wrestlers either left or couldn't perform due to injury. The "unoriginal" storylines were a reflection of a burnt-out Paul Heyman. Anyone could see it, especially when he appeared on camera with his gained weight, five o'clock shadow, and black bags under his eyes. However there was at least one original storyline when it was the ECW roster against "The Network". What other promotion broke the fourth wall like that in history and legitimately, as well as in kayfabe, attacked its own TV platform?

I saw the Spike Dudley interview (which was Fantastic) and it just seemed so natural the way the conversation flowed and very full of good information and knowledge. So naturally I finished that interview and said screw it, let’s check out Bubba/Bully Rays interview. I must say it was just as good and just as informative. I’ve been a fan of the Dudley’s since the first time I saw the 3D (Dudley Death Drop).
