There is NO chance those EO's meet constitutional muster. An EO can only order members of the Executive branch of government to do something. The president has no constitutional authority to order the general public to do ANYTHING. Only actual laws can do that. In particular the criminal penalties part of those FDR EO never could have passed muster. Does this matter in today's political climate. No. Is the 2A the last resort? Yep. If you stack, you'd better be armed. Now think about all the pre 1933 gold that still exists. Its pretty obvious that a lot of people ignored FDR's EOs.

We need to learn from history, in 1933 was the first great wealth transfer Americans ever experienced. When a president can rewrite the laws, and demand confiscation contrary to the constitution, something is not right. Just because politicians create laws/rules/policies, doesn't mean its just or ethical.

Agreed, but unbeknown to most, it is actually not our lawful government. What we have acting as our lawful government is in point of fact a corporation. This corporation was created around the time of the Civil War when the actual lawful government was dismantled. It was never reconstructed, but instead a corporation was created under the guise of being our government. This is what we are living under, a corporation treating us as it's creation/slaves/employees.

You know it's a fact that in WW2 the Philippines dumped all of their silver coinage into Manila Bay before the Japanese could loot it. The Japanese would take locals out to dive for it to recover, the Filipinos would go to the bottom and drown themselves before bringing any of it back up for the Japanese.

You already own them and paid the premiums so why take a hit and sell right now? Premiums are low and spot is mid range. Buy bars, constitutional and silver rounds now while they are cheap then sell your higher premium coins when premiums come back up. Right now silver has slowed and it's a buyers market.

The Gold confiscation of 1933 was applied nationwide to an economy in which those coins (and Gold Certificates) were commonly used as money. A Silver confiscation in the US would be a lot of work for little return. There just isn't enough Silver out there in the form of U.S. coinage to merit the same kind of effort. It is so unfortunate, I could almost cry, that I was in my canoe on Lake Winnipesaukee and I just happened to have had all my silver and many of my firearms with me (I was going to show a friend my collection) when my canoe tipped over! All of my silver and firearms are now somewhere at the bottom of Winnipesaukee... I'm beside myself. At least I had my life vest on and I'm ok.

Im in the camp of stacking not necessarily Government backed silver or bullion, but in fact a believer in the metal and not the premiums. What gets lost in the fully supporting GVT coinage is the fact that many stackers, with or without knowing it, are in fact trading the premiums! Lets embrace the fact that is SHTF and we need to barter, the true value will fall in the precious metal value, not the recognition of who minted it. We all know, or most should, know how to test. Silver is Silver, Gold is Gold. Also lets get back to days of the past. People shaved coins to barter and collect wealth. It would happen again to be certain. Whats that pretty Eagle going to be worth if its not round? Premium gone! Your guest Dave is right...people will melt and make sizes and weights of the metals to what they need. Many, self included, home refine regularly. Now for the sake of argument if i can get bullion rounds at spot and an Eagle for $1/$2 over, i would go for the Eagle because of ease of recognition in bartering, any more than that....nope. Here in the US, we like Eagles, Canada the Maples, UK the Sovereigns, etc etc...where you domicile determines largely your preference. I could go on and on, but the real wealth preservation against SHTF is in bullion, premiums are the first and easiest hit against your wealth preservation motive. Just my 2¢.

Yeah that’s what my thinking is. Silver is silver and it won’t be plentiful. Can’t recall who did the video giving random people the choice of a candy bar or a silver bar and not one took the silver. 😳 NOT ONE!! Wished I could’ve been one of those randoms 😂 I kept thinking ok the last ones gonna take the silver. NOPE! I’m just thinking not many are collecting so it won’t matter what kind it is. Super, appreciate this discussion and it's amazing cause it's stuff. I've thought about and we need to be thinking broader. Because that's the way things are like gonna go down.

I agree. Never thought about "confiscation" of that nature. I buy silver to save money, retirement and a hedge against inflation in the good times and to barter in the bad times. I like the idea of smaller 1/10th oz. But what about premium on that? I love 90%, not so much 40%. I mainly stack buffaloes because of premiums but occasionally splurge on sovereigns of diverse kinds. I am concerned with implementation of CBDC and don't know how a bartering system would work in this Era of technology and tyrannical laws we find ourselves in.

Most people that stack, love the 2nd Amendment.

I have found prices on Australian Kangaroos or Austrian Philharmonic coins similar to generic, so I prefer them, but I’m not opposed to getting generic if they’re significantly cheaper.

Folks ask me all the time about which bullion form I prefer over another and I say, , , YES. It's really easy. Find something you like, , , BUY IT. Push come to shove it is all just a way to save and admire. Just try for a low premium piece and be happy doing it. If not, don't. It's just that simple. Great post. 11:10 there’s a really good argument out there that states that the United States Constitution was suspended during the Civil War. Actually they were talking about moving silver out of Comex from monetary value to a commodity. So govt confiscated metals would not be a first in this country. As for the " health emergency" I'm not going to play in this year's games. Reality is once they realize that there are no new mines silver will overshoot gold. That's when the govt will be looking to confiscate it and move it immediately to commodity as the dollar will be backed by that .

Also depends on the price you paid for it vs what you can sell it for today. Example: purchased X amount of 2016 ASE’s at 21.52 per coin. If I sell it for just spot (23.27) I’m up 1.75 per coin. Or am I? Currently, 2016 ASE BU sell at retail for about 30.00 - 32.50. So, I would expect to get between 25 to 28 per coin. That’s a 3-6 dollar per coin increase. On its face, that sounds like I’d make a profit…. Maybe… when you calculate for the time value of money, 21.00 in 2016 is about 27.23 in today’s dollars. So I would need to sell above that amount to realize a gain. Basically, I may have just kept pace with inflation. I’m ok with that as I’d much rather maintain the purchasing value by replacing fiat with PM’s than put cash on hand in a home safe, standard bank savings, money market, or bank deposit box. You might could do better with a 5% Savings account but who really trusts institutions given “Bail In Laws”.

Hey Yankee! I've been stacking those dimes! Found 6 more in my roll hunt yesterday and that made my day.

I was friends with Dave and worked for him when he first started his silver company out of his living room apartment. He is a very smart and sincere person, and also an eccentric and intense individual. It’s really cool to reflect back to the beginning where we were all trying to figure out how to make those 1/10th ounce bars, grinding them with a belt sander and then putting them through a stone polishing machine, and to see his success today many years later. Dave, if you’re reading this, I’m sorry I was late to work that one time because I didn’t have the sense to have a backup alarm clock 😂

Spot price is the same for all. Walk into various coin stores to sell a US Silver dollar and the premium is very inconsistent. I've been leaning towards silver bars and rounds for awhile so no "haggling" over premiums for numismatic coins. Still have plenty of love for pre 2024 Silver Maples.

The one thing I will point out to dave. If you are travelling to another country with pm's. All country's require you to declare the spot value on bars and bullion. However with soverign coins you only have to declare the face value of the currency. You can travel with a lot of ounces when each one is only valued at 5 or 10 dollars.

Those boxes behind Dave look very much like Japanese puzzle boxes. If so, it is pleasing to be aware of a fellow stacker who is also a collector of puzzles. I have accumulated quite a “stack” of custom & other interesting puzzles over the past 35 years, including all of the Hanayama cast puzzles, which are well made, interesting, and inexpensive. One can spend whatever they’d like on custom puzzles from individual makers, including the Japanese puzzle boxes. Puzzles, illusions (optical & otherwise), knives & precious metals are fun little gadgets to have in ones desk.

Looks like I'll be expanding my "Tool Box" this weekend to protect my family and assets. Keep your content coming, Yankee.

Interesting, his main worry is that gov-coins say the country on them...personally, my main issue is that for example ASE say "one dollar" on them. I can already hear a layman say when you try to barter, "You want to give me how much?? It literally says ONE DOLLAR on it!" 😆. This is not even touching on the premiums...buuuut if you flash a shiny 999 pure silver round/bar at them, they'll at least know it's worth something if nothing more than watching the Olympic medal ceremonies... Gonna take a loooong time to re-educate the masses...

In 1934, it was the opposite. There was a carve out that allowed coin collectors to keep numismatic examples of $5, $10, and $20 gold pieces that were other wise confiscated. I don't remember the specifics, but I think you could legally keep two examples of each date and mintmark. You could also keep gold jewelry.

From what I've researched, US citizens of the time were allowed to keep $100 face value in gold coin. EO 6102 went after big banks, high net worth individuals, and wealthy gold investors, as well as whatever gold the Fed held at the time. The UST issued the Fed gold certificates for what was surrendered, and for some odd reason still values govt-held gold at the ridiculous price of $42.22/oz since 1973.

A great video - I like the idea of fractional gold and fractional silver. It is an excellent way to get started instead of trying to save up $2,000 to buy an ounce of gold.

A lot of this stuff is review for long time followers, but I really enjoyed it. Why? Because Silver Dave brings some authentic passion and energy into stacking. People with those qualities are important to have in any industry. Delightful guy who I am sure will help many new stacks when they inevitably come to the PM space. Thanks, Yankee! Good vid!

My shop pays $2 over spot on Silver Maples and most major bullion coins. We only pay melt on rounds and bars. Larger bars we pay $1 under or less depending on our supply and demand. We sell a lot of maples and are eager to obtain them for $2 over. We pay $3 over on sealed monster boxes as long as both straps are intact. Been in business since 2004 in Red Deer Alberta.

“Hey sir… do you have any silver to turn in?”….. “Hey agent are those level IV plates?”

Over here in the UK we had some places that didn't accept legal tender-notes. Around 2yrs before the health problem the UK started making plastic currency which is washable and extremely durable. It was insanity that they still asked us to use a keypad and would hand over a receipt! Nothing surprises me now and after all we are using the banks currency, we don't own it we just have equitable use of it.
