The screen issue is definitely delamination. It's either air or moisture between the plates that you're moving around when you press on it. I worked at a vinyl sign shop as a kid and we had to squeegee air bubbles out from under the vinyl all the time after applying it; the behaviour of the bubbles looked very similar. The best reason I can think that it appears as dark dots is because LCDs are sensitive to pressure (as well as electricity) and those bubbles are pressing against the liquid crystal, causing it to bend the light in those spots.

Looks good, i did an ips-screen, case (Clear Extreme Green colored), bigger battery swap (800Mah) for my gba-sp -100 series. The new screem is sooo much better, i cant believe the difference, Story time: I found my old copy of pokemon Emerald wich i had lost for around 10 years. I was excited to start playing it again, but soon noticed that the internal battery of the cartridge was dead, i ordered a new one and then i started seeing videos of these crazy gba mods. I was amazed on the quality of the screens and wanted one for my self, i know in a few years time i propably wont be playing the games again for a while, but the sheer amount of nostalgia i got from trying to research on what i would need to build my ultimate Gba-SP took the best of me and I did it. I ordered every part, waited patiently and then one day my orders started coming in. I put everything together and BAM! i had it, now i have been playing Emerald for a while on and off because of my work schedule, brings back such good memories, especially now that it's christmas time (i got the console and game as a christmas gift), I remember playing next to the christmas tree and can vividly remember the lights and the smell of the spruce. Ahh good times.

Thankfully my Game Boy Pocket screen is in great shape. It does have a factory defect where there is some “ghost lines” as I call them in certain scenes, basically there is faint vertical lines that line up with breaks in the pixel art like at the ends of a text box or something similar. They go from top to bottom of the screen, but aren’t very noticeable. I’ve read that most Game Boy Pocket screens are effected by this and a replacement screen Paul likely have the same issue. I also read that the problem happens even when the screens were brand new.

The way the fix works, my guess is this is related to magnetism and the cover is just gathering dust at the spot where it's concentrated. Damage, usage and time would be explained by this. So it's just very tightly wrapped garbage. A hard scrub takes it away.

This brings back memories of me as a kid desperately trying to get some light sprinkled on the screen of my original Game Boy while playing in dimly lit rooms. There were times where I really was wondering why the FUCK the damn thing didn't have some kind of lamp on it that would shine light on the screen, completely forgetting how quickly the incandescent bulbs of the time used up even C-batteries and thus would probably cut the already not so great battery life in half. Now that I know a bunch about electronics and especially the huge difference in efficiency between incandescent bulbs and LEDs I do of course understand very well why such lamps wouldn't have made sense back then.

Probably by the time the Pocket came around, it probably would have been viable to put green LED's to frontlight the screen, similar to cell phones of the late 90s since green LEDs were reasonably inexpensive even back then. But I'm sure it still would drive up cost and significantly reduce battery life of the AAA's and look like crap, which I'm sure is why they decided against it.
