Building the BIGGEST Ork: The Mega Gargant for Warhammer 40K
Ойындар
For the last few months I've been building a Giant Ork Mega Gargant for Warhammer 40K. "Big Dave" as I've come to know him stands around 40 inches tall, about 1.8x the height of a Warlord Titan. Making a giant Warhammer model isn't without challenges, for example I'm worried it's too large to fit through a UK size doorway... I really need to investigate that, but I'm not sure I want to know the answer.
The video covers the steps necessary to build a giant Ork Mega Gargant for Warhammer 40K based on the old Epic model, with a fair amount of personalisation.
Given the scale of the project, it's impossible to cover everything, but I've tried my best to cover all of the steps, techniques, tools and materials I used in the build of the Ork Mega Gargant. It was a labour of love, and arguably a stupid project, but I'm now the proud owner of the biggest Ork vehicle I've ever seen! What I'm saying is, if you're going to build an Ork Gargant, go bigger!
Anyway. My name's Chris, and I've been a full-time youtuber in the sim-racing space for the past few years. I've been making models and playing wargames for over 20 years, so I thought I'd share some of what I do on here. If you like what I do, please subscribe, there are more videos on the way. Not just Ork stuff either, and maybe not all Warhammer 40k... though it probably will be mostly be Warhammer 40k knowing me.

A couple of people have asked if I can share the files I used to create the Mega Gargant. I never really intended the files to be a public release, so there's no notes / instructions, but if you're mad enough to want to give it a go, you're probably mad enough to follow the logic I used to create them! So, here's a zip of all the design and cut files I prepared in illustrator for import into the laser software I use (lightburn). www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/1d64vgrkhr9r94g3x9kcr/Offbeat_Builds_Mega_Gargant.zip?rlkey=135y0k5129rf7wodve5ft9jjd&dl=0

Probably(cause I don't have a laser cutter yet... maybe if I get one I 'll have to put it to the test) won't use the files but hey, it's inspiring to see, I definitely need some sort of frame work for my gargant

@Offbeatbuilds How have I not known about "laser board" as a material before for lasercutting? This is game-changing for me. THANK YOU! I have several projects that will immediately benefit from this information!
Bro I can't believe you start off your hobby YT channel with THIS monster. That's like spending your first day as a mason building the entirety of the Colosseum.
For a small channel the video quality is unreal mate keep up the good work from a fellow ork boss 🔥

Thanks mate, much appreciated!
1. The quality of this is absurd. Subbed and can't wait to see what you do in the future. 2.I think you almost did too good of a job putting it together. It looks so much more deliberate and actually functional compared to most modern ork stuff. I also wish you had done a bit more on the painting side. I recognize it is a massive model but I feel like it could use a bit more color. Super great work man I am stoked to have found your channel and I can't wait to see what you post in the future.

Thanks Jacob. I know what you mean about it looking "too functional". Most of my ork builds probably fall into that category; I take a lot of inspiration from the 2nd/3rd edition Ork vehicles, which tend to crudely mimic 20th Century military gear, rather than the more recent ramshakle katamari thing they have going on!

@@OffbeatBuilds ramshackle katamari. THAT's some good words to describe good Mekkin'
The random cutaways to you sitting in a chair are hilarious idk why, they seem so professional haha
"Laserboard" sounds like something teenage punks ride in an 80's-era cyberpunk story.
It's been sat on the shelf for about 20 years, but you've finally inspired me to try and finish off my ork great gargant scratch build. Or at least give him arms. Great work on your model and thanks for the motivation!
This is just insane. The build itself, your editing style, and just general personality are all top notch - you deserve 10x the subscribers.

I'm so happy to find this channel. This is the exact kind of content that gets me back to the hobby table. Great work on both vids!!
This is an absolutely monstrous build for a first video, what an amazing accomplishment! The quality of this video is great as is the writing, eager to see what you come up with next!
Amazing, I really want to build one now...and then start collecting orks 😂
RC crowd might have some dang good looking tracks. A bit useless expense in them though since they are meant to be motorized. Though, having them motorized would be awesome, but a whole different project in on itself.
I'd love for you to meet up with Guy from Mid Winter Minis and have this battle his huge Titan. Epic.
It needs more contrast in the paint job, but otherwise it is a 10/10 build. Looking forward to see what the rest of your channel has in store

I have plans on building a mega gargarnt one day. That day probably won't arrive until like next decade and I'll be kitbashing a lot of it to save myself some time and headache, but one day it shall come together.
Instant subscription. I absolutely LOVE kitbashing for my army, and you're honestly one of the best I've seen. I cant wait for future videos, and your work is very inspiring!
Nice job ya zogger. Love how you built it with an MDF frame. Genius. I did my gargants with a polystyrene core covered in card. Love it. 👍
Love your dry style and the editing is *chefs kiss*. Keep it up!
I did hit that subscribe button! Phenomenal quality both of the build itself and of the video production.
Phenomenal build dude, this is incredible! Great on you for sharking the files for this thing publicly and freely to, good lad :D
Amazing build, was fun to watch! Subscribed!
Fanatic video, really entertaining. Keep up the good work
"Like a chilling metaphor for modern life..." 😄😄😄 What a wonderfully bonkers build. 😍 It is amazing what you can achieve with a laser cutter, skill, imagination, determination and humour.
the rope next to the ladder is for haulin' bitz! its OSHA (orky safety and hazards ad-mini-stray-shun) compliant!
Why didn't I know about this channel sooner!
Gotta love the effort put into editing and commentary, keep up the good work.
You've got to love Orks :) That's a work if art, man - and such a cool video!
okay, so I stumbled on the ATV-Video first, but this instantly piqued my curiosity. I love what you've delivered here. The model is a giant box of guns, which is as orky as it gets and the video itself was very well made and entertaining. I really enjoy your humor, i was chuckling and laughing more or less the entire 25 minutes. Sometimes because of your jokes, sometimes because of the sheer ridiculousness of the model itself. Long story short: I loved it, I subscribed, I hope you take off to the moon with that subscriber-count and I want to see much more from you!
Insanely good!
Man, if your first two videos are this good... I'm stoked to see what else you do.

the quality of this video and build is amazing, but are you gonna build an emperor class titan to go with him?
funny how human see it as a massive junk fortress while daemon actually see the construct as Avatar of the Ork's gods

Ah thanks dude. I remember watching your Battlewagon and Orky terrain videos years ago, big inspiration!
yes, I did hit that subscribe button for this glorious monument to Gork . . . I mean . . . Mork. I can't fault any of the construction. I would have preferred an obnoxiously brighter color than the black/gray chosen, but that's an aesthetic choice and because Orks can't spell aesthetics, I'm sure it doesn't matter. Mebbe enuff Dakka. Mebbe.
Well, that's one way to launch a channel.
OK I need to build this .what did you use and where can i find it also shared this video

Thanks Simon. I think that's the beauty of Orks as a faction, there's so much room for personal interpretation, almost any approach can be justified! I'll definitely be tackling some more Orky projects, they're the army I'm always pulled towards over my 20ish years in the hobby. Probably because of all of the modelling opportunities.
Epic, almost epically so.
