I know this is a little late, but nice job! I just love the shape of the ship. I think the greatest thing about it is that the moment you saw it for the very first time, you knew that those are the bad guys. That's not a good guy ship, those are the heavies, best keep an eye on them. To design a ship and have the evil visually baked in was pure genius.
Considering this vessel, you should do some Space Battleship Yamato kits... they are lovely. As always, wonderful video!
Fantastic job!!!! I really like it in the green color!!!!
15:00: that's because of the filming techniques at the time. The actual model was more green. So your color scheme is about right. Great build!
Dang that model is huge! Great job on the painting too, you're absolutely right to paint it how you like - I had a Klingon Bird-Of-Prey that I painted up with a tigerstripe pattern like something Chris Foss would have done in the 1970's
Andy, I know that you normally build armor, but you really did a fantastic and convincing job on that sci-fi kit! It's cool that they released a specific lighting kit for it, instead of having to source all of the parts and figure out how to make it work by yourself.
Love the sci-fi. Keep them coming. This kit is in my wish list.
I have just ordered this kit and light fitments after watching this video. Great review Andy - thank you!
Always love the space/fantasy models! It seems like the perfect choice for the paint color.
Looks great - I love the enthusiasm you bring!
Nice job! I would use magnets to keep that top plate accessable instead of velcro

I thought that too when I watched it and 👍
great … now I want one
If you look closely at the original star trek motion picture and wrath of khan, it does have that paint job. Both those original films heavily feature this bird. Although the original movie model builders used heavy weathering on it making it look like all dirty green, it does actually have that wild bird design and klingon symbol.
Stumbled on your channel and was blown away. Loved it!! The Klingon D7 is one of my favorite Star Trek Ships. You my friend have a new subscriber
Great kit , especially with the leds. Good job on the weathering.
Pretty cool looking...the lights definitely make the model.
Very nice job overall, your build was very enjoyable to watch. Unique weathering to let the model stand out. Looking forward to getting this kit and try your techniques
Great model looking like a star trek space ship. Like what you have done with weathering yet another winner nice one Andy Steve 🇬🇧
Good job Andy:)
What a cool kit and nice paint job!
Nice. Really nice. Respect.
I love watching these. I always pick up a technique or get exposed to a new product that may be a solution one day. Thanks.
Looks awesome.
As always amazing
A Star Trek kit from Andy, instantly liked
You do amazing work! Really inspired me to improve my skills! Keep up the great work!
Wicked good outcome
Awesome Kit
Really nice I hope mine turns out that good. You have a lot of patience.
Lovely build there Andy. The color looks pretty nice to me and the weathering makes everything pop very well. Super fun build!
Real cool and fantastic looking ship. I’ve been buying them already done since I can’t do it, nor have the time. I know you all that build these beautiful models are very talented!!
Can wait the struck this model I just purchased it yesterday for my birthday with the lighting kit
my dad made this model using the 1970/80 kit when he was a teen he used fishing wire and a single bulb that was intermittent (a small old flashing Christmas filament tree) to make the lights flash, this was done at a fraction of the cost and battery's of course

The green was used for the smaller Klingon bird of prey, I may be wrong

Another fun build Andy, great video!! Inspirational I have the classic 1/350 Enterprise You inspired me again for Star Trek!! Well Done Andy!!! Thank you my friend!!! Wow!!!!! Great paint choices well executed Andy really cool, thx again. So much fun , inspiring Andy wow!!!!
Glad I discovered your channel !
Damn, that thing is huge! Have to use that light kit though, looks awesome all lit up 👍 Great work, Andy
very cool build/paint.
Great review and build video! It's about time that models designed for lighting get to be molded in light blocking black.I would love to see the refit molded in the same color.Your finished model looks terrific!
That green was exactly what I would have liked to use. Excellent choice. The Klingon fllet is composed of elements funded and built by the various great houses so there will be some variance in appearance from one ship to another. Some are even markedly different so don't worry about the cannon thing.
Andy you hit the wash on the bridge section perfectly. It looks fantastic. I really couldn't see the wing section well enough but what I seen there was great also. The light kit makes this a totally different model. Just fantastic as always. Thanks and if you have the opportunity a clear look at the wing, nacelle section would be cool.
Great work Andy!
Great job on the kit! I'm going to have to track one down up here in the Cold White North!
Wow looks absolutely badass man, love it
IM NOT A VERY BIG STAR TREK FAN, BUT I REALLY WANT THAT KIT. IT LOOKS AWESOME, GREAT WORK ANDY!
love you andy

My grandma is doing much better
Mission models paints are amazing. Having some great results with Gunpla, SBY and IRL kits.
I enjoyed the video
very cool
Thanks for doing a Sci-fi model Andy. My latest Sci-Fi book is up and over 750 pages. Hope you carry on doing different subjects.
Green and red... never thought that the Klingons were so big on Christmas.

Good job 👌🏻
Very cool! I'm not a huge fan of Star Trek but I will build one of those. Now Andy I have a challenge for you. Try the Bandai hobby 1/350 space battleship Yamato. I triple dog dare you! (a movie reference)
I was out in Phoenix from Atlanta September 24th this last year for a medical procedure on my neck and really wanted to come out and see your shop but alas, I was only there for d days before heading home. Maybe next time!
Nice job on the paint and weathering Andy. On your gluing down the rear part of the engines, I suggest using canopy glue as it will hold very secure but if you need to remove it you can pry it off without any damage to the 4 pins.
Killer job
neat stuff a look in to will see as post
hello andy nice kit and build
Great job man I like it! The decals from TOS make it look less intimidating, I wish it would’ve have the solid blood red Klingon emblem instead. I’ll be purchasing and following your assembly and painting instructions, again outstanding working!
Would like to suggest using laytex rubber for moulds as a masking material for the lights, peels off easily.
Nice model!! Hi from argentina!
great build!!! use small earth magnets to hold you panels down.
Looking forward to Aztec dummies build too
That kit is on my want list. Just need Romulan engines and decals to make a V-11 Stormbird.
I did not catch your build time but, good job seeing how they just came out. I have no intention of getting this kit so I lived it through your video & I am grateful to see it. Very nice. I do not like the front decal at all. I see no logical reason for that to be embellished such as that. Sorry Hollywood, I just think it is redundant. The ship looks super though. Thanks. Well, I spoke too soon. I now have the kit so your video has turned into a trade show seminar.
@15:00? The great thing about Klingon ships is, you can stay within Star Trek canon and have variations in color hues and patterns based on your preferences. Because, the Klingons aren't very particular about uniformity from ship to ship; in fact some are ever so slightly different depending on who the Commander is.

That's the comment I was going to make. The Imperial triskelion and ship name have to be there, but that's about as disciplined as the Empire gets. Also some commanders are more and some less finicky about keeping the brass polished, so to speak.
Tempted to purchase..
Very nice... I do hope you do a star wars ship soon
Love the two obvious Tiger 1 hatches at 31:20
That panel covering the battery box can be reliably secured with neodymium magnets. Pops off easy but holds firm
I really don't care much about star trek... But i care about the Channel and the work that Andy does... So here is my ''LIKE''...
Add some flat neodymium magnets to the battery cover that will hold it in place
If you do ever have to break a part off once cemented Tamiya enamel thinner works well. Add a drop to the ceam and ten minutes later it will come apart.
With the color scheme for this it's the same as the Enterprise refit. The studio models for both ships were painted up with a lot of vibrant colors but in filming they had a bit of trouble and ended up filming in low lighting and then brightening things up in post, plus they added some filters to create the dynamic space lighting and so forth and what you end up with is a different, more washed out or subdued on-screen appearance than what the studio model has. It's up to the individual modeler to decide between the on-screen appearance or the studio model or some compromise. I usually opt to go with the on-screen appearance as much as possible. That is ultimately what these ships ended up looking like m in the shows which kind of makes it canon.
Way back when (maybe 1980-82), Starlog Magazine published photos of both this and the Vulcan Shuttle from STTMP in "normal" light and the Klingon was several shades of green with tan, rust and pink (rusty-tan?) accents. Crazy but true. The 1966-69 TV series had the ship with a different name (D-7) and it was a battleship gray and smooth all over.
your a patient man i would of had to punt the poodle.
Recommendation to others, the front clear glass should be heavily frosted to prevent you from seeing the LED's. This may apply to other windows as well.
Yes, those are the warp drives. The others are the impulse ( sublight) engines.😊
The "pods" on the end of the "wings" are the warp nacelles. the engines on rear hull are the sub light impulse engines. Big round hole on back panel is rear photon torpedo launcher.

@23:35, yes the Nacelles are engines...they are the Warp Engines. The red parts on the aft Main Hul are the Impuse Engines. BTW, has been my experience with other D-7 based model designs, the point where the "neck" attaches to the Main Hull can sometimes be a bit fragile. I usually use epoxy here just to be sure... (adding): Great idea for hiding that pesky gap, using a small piece of styrene. Inspired! Oh, and the battery cover, instead of Velcro I was thinking, maybe, a magnet and a small steel plate? A thin washer that is ferrous might work nicely.
What he's calling the Bridge at the end of the video that has the red windows is the Sensor Tower. The Bridge is the round football shape object right in front of the Sensor Tower.
of all the builds i have seen of this model i like yours the best . im thinking of useing tamyia smoke in a spray can for weathering but i have never used it before . can you give me any advise
You've painted with honor.
Nice but a huge model!!
Warp engines on the outboards, impulse engines are center line aft.
The rear of the main body are the impulse drives, the you have the warp nacelles at the end of the pylons on end of each wings
Looks great Andy, esp. for a mediocre modeler lol I wouldn’t want to meet that Klingon vessel in a dark alley :)
Small magnets should work great to hold the hatches down. They're used in rc models quite a bit.
Great model! And the paint is awesome. The assemblies on the left/right hulls are warp engines. The red glowing portions at the back of the hull are impulse engines .
The green is the right colour for the cruiser.
im about to do this kit did you have to wash the mold release off the parts ? and great video you took all my fear away . i never did l.e.d. kits . thank you .
So, did you NOT use the photo etch pieces?
Looks good when are you going to finish of the takom panther and love to see you build a m113 kit
Consider mini-magnets for securing the removable panel...
Had mine for 3 weeks now.. trying to make space on the bench
Use a magnet to hole that black panel over the battery case.
Klingon cruisers and warbirds and Bird of Preys were both owned by the empire and owned by the main families of the empire.
Looks fantastic. Quick question, do you think using oil based washes with thinners on a model painted with enamels but sealed with Testers Dulcote would damage the paint?
hey Andy please please build a P-51 or a B-17 flying fortress please
