I have one of them and you're correct about contact distance for use. Accuracy at 10 feet is something to be desired. It's a good conversation starter in a shadow box with reproduction newspaper clippings behind it.

Just got a chance to see your latest video. Looks like a cool project. I agree with you on the rifled barrel. Why rifle the barrel of a gun that is meant for card table diameter distance? Were the original Derringers rifled? Seems a smoothie would be far more practical for various reasons. I'll be lookng forward to seeing you shooting it though. Especially at the Den.

Wow that is actually a pretty cool kit! A CVA Philadelphia derringer was the second kit build I ever did. I want to say 1975/76. It and I have an interesting story In itself. This looks very interesting I may have to do one to add my custom touches. Now I'm sure you haven't seen it, but I recently acquired a new pedersoli purchase myself. I did a video on it entitled exceeding expectations. Shooting at least the CVA was fun but with only a front wedge shaped sight not a tack driver. Yet kinda of wish I still had it. With the extra brass inlays I could see myself going for some engraving. I'll see if have an inspiration come to me. Currently I'm impatiently awaiting a customized revolver to come back to me for finishing touches. When it does I will do a couple of videos on it. Mountain man

I have one also. Mine is a second hand kit. What a lot of folks think it’s a week mainspring. Most times it’s a lousy lock plate mortise. Sand the stock and keep checking the hammer clearance to the stock. It rubs bad. I also had to reshape the sear. This is to keep it from dropping into the half cock notch when firing. I’m also pouring a pewter nose cap.

If you ever decide to lose weight I can tell you how I did it. I am 63 and I have lost 60 pounds within the last year. I eliminated everything from my diet except for meat, eggs, butter, bacon, salt, vitamins and minerals, coffee and tea, an occasional salad without dressing but with vinegar and blue cheese, and spices. I don't eat sugar or anything with added sugar. I eat until I am full, I don't go hungry. The idea is to promote low insulin levels and to burn fat.

@@sleeperno1215 I finally reached 143 pounds, and I get hungrier which tells me that my weight loss is finished. Now we are going to have an occasional ice-cream cone. What caused me to gain weight were too many carbs, at 30 I started eating lots of pizza, spaghetti, and macaroni and cheese, I gained 45 pounds in a year, the carbs caused me to have low blood sugar attacks which I countered by eating even more. Then I took a sit down second shift job, breakfast would be at taco bell, dinner after midnight would be Wendy's. I weighed 209 when I went keto, for my height of 5'8" and small bone size 209 is way to heavy. I had maintained about 205 +/- 5 pounds for 20 years, I just needed to lose the weight that I had put on 30 years ago.

Note: be careful with the use of epoxy to secure the inlaying, as you (do not want to epoxy the wedge in place). That is because you will never get the wedge out without breaking something. As I had a devil of a time removing frozen wedges on a Kentucky long rifle, that had a bad polyurethane finish put on it.

I'm guessing Pedersoli mounts these piece of wood in a jig and a CNC cuts the undersized shapes out of the stock. They have to keep everything to a price point as I'm sure the purchase volume of these is quite low, but it seems the wood isn't a high density quality hardwood.

If I had a dollar for every time "progressives" dismiss conservatism as reactionary...... (Sorry, Mike... Only here for the Deringer build. If I didn't have to slave away for these entitled Lefties, I might have time to finish my Kibler... lol)
