I free handed everything. Nothing was pre drilled just lined up the shelves and drilled. I used a quality all purpose screw 1 1/4 inch. It went threw very easy...just need to keep your hand steady becuase if you drill at a slight angle the screw will go through the shelve and stick out.

Hi I have been watching your video's a few months now, thank you for your content. I went to the website for Piedmont plastics and they have different kinds of PVC sheets, which type did you use? Also I didn't see any dimensions beyond 48" so how did you get the 54" high panels? I couldn't find a way to order panels in the dimensions you specified, so I was wondering how you ordered them? I also saw that just for a piece for 1 shelf it was over $100, how was your cost only a few hundred, with 14 shelves?

Your welcome Kathy. I use the black foam board 1/2 thick. They sell the pvc by the sheet and I belive the sheets are 48" x 90". I send my dimensions needed to the manager threw email and he sends me a quote and we take it from there. Just look for the contact email and send what you need it's easier that way. Yes the sheet that 48x90 is $179 I belive and it normally the 2-3 sheets to make a larger rack like this. Keep in mind the same sheet was $79.99 2 years ago so the price has went up alot since this video. Thanks again for watching

Thanks for watching. The pvc is sold by the sheet and they charge a 1 time cutting fee. Im currently working but when i have time tomorrow i will see exactly how much tape i used and give you the measurements.

The foil tape didn't do a great job since it was wood but it worked out. I got my heat tape from reptile basics and I bought it already with cord and outlet. So I had 8 cords. Hey Shannon thanks for checking out the video. I found a company called Piedmont plastics online. They happen to have a location 20 minutes from me so it worked out. Piedmont plastics has many locations and they sell and cut the pvc to your exact specifications. This worked great because I dont have the equipment to cut the pvc and for a snake rack you want the cuts to be perfect. That being said pvc is expensive and building your own rack will definitely save you alot pf money compared to buying a ready made rack. Let me know if you find anything in your area. Be safe

Thanks for the awesome feedback and support. The dimensions for this rack is 54h tall x20wide.....2 pieces for the 2 side panel's. I have 14 levels and each shelve is 25.5 L x 20w. After those cuts there is extra left over pvc they give you that can be used for a futre build. Soon ill be making an adult rack for small adults that will be 10 levels.for the fb20 bins from freedom breeders it will hold 10 bins...keep me posted if you start building the rack and be safe

@@reannafriesen899 fb-5 tubs are great. You can get 5 bins per shelf using the rack I built. That would be alot of bins..you can mix and match with fb5s, v18s and v35s since they all are the same height. Soon i will be building a 10 level rack for semi adults/adults using the fb20 bins. Good luck with you build.

I am having difficulty finding the PVC on Piedmont Plastics. I did find some , but it's the wrong sizes. Can you maybe post a link to the specific product?

  • @cloudcolubrids4603

What I did was figure out what size rack I needed to accommodate the bins i was using. Then i emailed Piedmont plastics directly and gave them the breakdown of what i needed. They use a computer to determine how many sheets they need to make the cuts and give you a price. Once you pay they custom cut your pvc to order and you pick it up. They charge you by the sheet so if it takes 4 sheets of pvc the charge you for the sheets and I belive a cutting fee of $35 or so for the whole job which isnt bad. After i picked up my pvc pieces they gave me the excess pvc becuase there is left overs after cutting what you request....you can use the excess towards future builds

You keep your pets like inmates in prison. Being lazy is no excuse for keeping reptiles in plastic tubs. You should have less anakes if you can't provide them with a sanctuary.

Thank you for the comment. Everyone has opinions on tubs and it is proven to be the best way to keep small colubrids. I have many in larger enclosures that did not do as well and after moving them to bins started to improve. All of my snakes are in very clean environments with a weekly supply of the best rodents and clean water. My snakes are all very healthy and treated like kings and queens. I respect your views and I hope you have a nice weekend. be safe
