    I forgot to add you might try using 1/2" instead of 3/4" melamine for your racks. I get my 1/2" from the lumber yard there should be one near you, I know the big box stores like Home Depot usually only sell 3/4 but it's worth the trip to the lumber yard your racks will be plenty strong but much much lighter. If you go to the shelving section of Home Depot they sell pieces of 1/2" melamine that are for closet shelves, they already have the veneer edging and they are dimensionally perfect for the Sterilite 32 quart tubs, like exactly perfect, you just buy a couple 12 by 48" shelves or 15 by 48" for the sides and you don't even have to make any cuts it's awesome.

    @Florida Kayak Bass Trail, Yes they are PVC couplers. I put a 16 oz deli cup in the middle and it keeps it from being easily tipped over.

    Your room is looking great man, yeah I love the green latch sterilite tubs from Home Depot, I've completely switched over to them. I used to not want lids but now I prefer them because the condensation doesn't warp the melamine and like you said the males don't nose rub. My snakes love them, I now only have one rack with FB40's that I can't switch over because it cost a lot to build so I might as well use it but from now on I'll be using the green latch Sterilite tubs. I find that if I drill 1/4" holes along the front and half way down each side it seems to regulate the humidity perfectly as well, I realize different areas of the country will be different but if you live in Northern California you might try it. Keep up the great work Benjamin.

    @eddie julian, indeed! For me there are so many advantages to the tubs with lids that going forward most of my racks will be built using this style.

    You continued pulling out the tubs, but never showed the bottom. Are your tubs flat bottomed, or do they have feet, or the common concave rail 1 inch around the bottom, which I find keeps too much of the tub up off of the heat tape? Thx

  • @BenjaminsExotics

    @BenjaminsExotics

    4 жыл бұрын

    @WGFU 200, all of the tubs shown in the video have the concave middle with a 1 inch or so rail around the bottom. I have used these for years and I personally have never had any problems with heating them. The bottom of the tubs still warm up evenly and hold heat quite well.

    I was wondering, is it safe to use a heating rock on my snakes pine bedding?

  • @BenjaminsExotics

    @BenjaminsExotics

    4 жыл бұрын

    @ joseph Householder, I would not recommend using a hot rock as they tend to fail over time and result in sever burns on the snakes belly. I would also be careful when using pine bedding, as it can work but many times it will also have ceder mixed in which is toxic for snakes.

    Please do not use a heat rock it can over heat and burn your snake if it’s a ball python use a heat mat under tank if it’s a tank cuz ball python do not bask as much in heat so please do not a heat. Rock
