It's a good idea as minimal wood cutting involved. The shovel needs to be strong. The only thing that bothers me is heavy rain. This dig out is susceptible to being flooded.

you just build a canal with a drain around the dig.

Not bad.. but.. lot's of rain would fill it with the water. It is in lower land precisely where water likes to go.

Good job looks like a very comfortable short-term shelter. Drainage would be my main concern one heavy rainfall it's a pool. Build into the side of a hill gives you options.

I would dig down below the fireplace another 3 feet for comfort in standing and the bed of wood is not necessary with a dirt shelf bed. And while burying the dugout, I would heap dirt to redirect the flooding around. And make a hatch door a foot or two from the edge of the roof. The stairs are necessary to make it work.

It is hard to tell without thoroughly looking around. But this appears to be a low area that I think rain water could run along. It's a lot of work to be destroyed by rain. It is very different to my area soil wise. I wonder if it's a clay base, if the ground is a clay hole was filled with wood and several chimneys to govair to the base of the fire. Fire the pit to bake the clay perhaps?? Again that may too be a waste of time. I'd guess all you could dool is log line it to protect a wall collapsing from rain in the ground

Good morning Alex first I watch all your videos and love your shelters but I have question for you . The question is why do you build your shelters in old road beds or on the sides of hills running right down toward your shelters ? It would seem to me you would have a lot run off water from rain and snow melting directly running into the shelter . Alex you keep filming and I'll keep watching !!

да там минимум человека 3 работало, он такой лопатой и метра бы не выкопал, плюс бензопила...на нем даже одежда не испачкалась,а уж поверьте мне,это очень грязная работа..)

Amazing! Good job! Some more tips in the future. 1) if you don't have a matress, fill a plastic bag with leaves and use it as a mattress 2) on the door, try to cover it with 2 or 3 more layers of plastic to block the wind and water breaking through ut 3) on the stairs and on the ground, put some wood boards to prevent it from becoming muddy when you come from outside wet or when water drops in 4) dig a smaller hole in the shelter on the floor, so colder air would drop in it and the room gets warmer

You forgot about the air ventilation. With all that and a fire inside you will litterly die. And a small hole will not be enough litterly dangerous.

Fajna twarda glina na budowę solidnej ziemianki, ale ma jeden wielki feler. Otóż jest wykopana w zagłębieniu. Po bokach teren jest znacznie wyższy. Zatem w wypadku dużych opadów deszczu czy śniegu, woda zaleje tę ziemiankę. Ziemianki należy raczej budować w terenie podwyższonym, wówczas woda nie wleje się do środka ziemianki.

Когда топка закончена (для безопасности выбираешь всю золу в ведро и выносишь ) , когда уходишь из пещеры, можно наверное на отверстие сделать укрытие из деревянного кружка, сверху укрыть тентом, чтобы не попадали осадки. Не уходило тепло из пещеры. Также сделать козырёк, чтобы во время топки не попадали осадки - дождь, снег в саму печь.

Napracowałeś się tą krótką łopatą.. Mam takie uwagi: Wybór miejsca na tę ziemiankę wydaje się nieodpowiedni. Przy dużym opadzie deszczu będzie tamtędy płynęła woda. Nic cię nie uratuje przed zalaniem. Te belki dachowe są nieco zbyt krótkie, spoczywają na krawędzi wykopu. Może się oberwać. można było dać belki w pod te dachowe. Jako dzieciak miałem taką ziemiankę, ale większą i wyższą. Właz był umieszczony w dachu, co wykluczało zalanie deszczem, a kamuflaż maskował wejście. Z nostalgią wspominam tamte czasy. Powodzenia.

w rzeczywistości ten budynek ma wiele wad, ale jako tymczasowe schronienie jest idealny

Coś takiego planuje ale mało filmów w temacie stricte ziemianek, dzięki za film.

Dobra gleba, na wypad w ciemno nigdy nie wiadomo na co trafisz. Bardzo ladna praca, pozdrawiam.

Great construction (and video, both composition and editing, well done)! Love the idea of a hidden shelter, plus a built-in stove/fireplace. The site choice may not work out for you in the long run, between two hills like that. Seems it would get plenty of runoff from both sides after rain or snow melt, giving you a wet floor. Better might be on top of either of those hills, or better yet, further down under that fallen log in the distance. Add a few to that for a roof, keep the existing grade for the floor, and the only digging would be to straighten the sides, maybe a sump hole. Possibility for a future project.

you have to remember Bill, the JCB has to be able to access the ground to do the real digging ;) I mean you didn't really believe he dug ALL that ground with that tiny shovel without breaking into a sweat? I've done labouring fella, when you're digging that hard you peel off layers and the sweat pisses outta you, and to dig a hole that size, your back would be annihilated, oh and the blisters on your hands and feet too ;) Nice videos, very interesting but you won't fool a guy whos grafted for a living!

Nicely done. Perfect soil. Quite a job. I have seen many dugouts constructed, some with coldwells for food storage, some without. Many videos are narration free now, but I do not remember seeing any dugouts with coldwells built specifically as cold air sinks. Since a dugout is much like a snow cave. and snow cavers are encouraged to construct a stepped formation that allows coldest air to drain below floor level, is such a technique used or valued in dugout construction? It seems like they might go dank (old meaning). Perhaps the fireplace is a cure for all that.

That dugout would actually be pretty warm and cozy. No better insulation than the earth. This would retain heat very, very well. As long as it doesn't rain, you would be very comfortable staying here.

как общая идея - неплохо, но можно и улучшить: 1.Трубу-вытяжку обложить камнем (чтобы не обвалилось) и сделать наклонную и подальше вывести, с маскировкой и рассеиванием дыма. 2.Делать всё на склоне - защита от воды. 3.Накат в пару слоёв - защита от дрона. 4.Вход с коридором и поворотом - защита от гранаты и ветра.

Just continue and enjoy what you are doing. And take good care of the things that you might been through while doing the videos . No hate .
