It begins! Today we will get started with the building of the Mini Jet Boat, or the Jet John.

“Bucking bar” that large piece of metal is how to set rivets. It’s called a buck bar.

When doing a build like this what do you take into consideration when picking your donor jet ski?

Cost, weight, hp. I always say you can never have too much horsepower, so go as big as you can. But weight is a factor as well, so that's why we all use jet ski motors instead of merccruisers or other jet inboard setups. If you're building a 10ft boat then you could probably use a 2 stroke 800-900+cc motor and be ok, get high 30s low 40s for speed. Of you're building a bigger boat like this you'd want as much power as possible. Thanks for your comment!!

@@jetboatmayhem7271 that's concerning, I'm picking up a 15' v bottom tonight and I was planning on putting a Yamaha 650 WRIII in it.. I got the motor for free so...

@lazydragonslayer @lazydragonslayer you can get away with this.... but if you want max performance such as speed and handling you need to keep it light as possible. Small fuel tank, use an aluminum intake not the jet ski bottom like I did, and try not to build it out too much inside. If you do that you'll have a great boat that handles well and it's a dog 😉

@@jetboatmayhem7271 I was planning on having an aluminum intake and building it light. I want to have a universal setup, duck hunt, deer hunt, fish and have fun. So I was going to leave it bare but finished.
