Building A Where The Light Is (Continuum Era) Inspired Pedalboard For $1000 - How I Would Do It
Ойын-сауық
If I had $1000 to build a Where The Light Is inspired John Mayer pedalboard from scratch, what would I buy? In a highly requested follow up to my video where I challenged myself to see what kind of Continuum John Mayer inspired pedalboard I could potentially build with $500 on reverb, I take on the same challenge, but with a budget of $1000.
This is just a fun video having the challenge of finding all of the pedals in one sitting on Reverb and it also provides you with some ideas of pedals you could look into to cover the various sounds of the Continuum era.

If I may make a suggestion, if one could justify the 500 Reverb price, I would strongly suggest the Nordvang Triple Gain. It has probably the most faithful recreations of the Klon, BB, and TS10 circuits I have ever heard all housed in one pedal. There is also a Nordvang Gravity with just the Klon and TS10. So if you want to have absolutely no qualms about the quality of the drive section then that is what I would suggest, as the other sections I feel can have some room for changing as it is easier to achieve the inteded delay effect for instance with a cheaper delay. Fantastic video as always.
Justin, your videos are awesome! Loved this!
Another great video Justin! Great content!
This is really good my brother!
I've played guitar for 20 years, my son surpassed my ability in about 5, but we've both been lost and overwhelmed when it comes to gear. This video is a revelation.
I'd use the JHS bonsai and the Providence Chrono Delay. Maybe drop the q-tron and harmonic trem for a multi-fx pedal, or a flint.
Great effort! Love this series. I guess I’d maybe find a cheaper long delay (flashback?) and try squeeze a wah on there
to the point! thanks brother!
Love it!
Building this board, but with the blues breaker and the TS 10. I’ve already got them and a different version of the El Capisan that I’ll hopefully be OK with lol. I ordered the rest today, so I’ll see how it turns out. Love your content! Be well.
Let me be the first to tell everyone to just throw away their pedals and PRACTICE BECAUSE TONE IS IN THE FINGERS!. Don't be discouraged, it took me a couple years to get that tape delay down but sure enough it's all in the fingers! 😁
Loved the video. I'm fortunate enough to already have some of these pedals (including an original keeley katana that I only paid $130 for!!!). However my only drive pedal atm is the Fulltone Fulldrive 2. Im curious, if you're familiar with this pedal, what settings get it the closest to the ts 10? I'd love to dial in the the fulldrive so I can send it into my q tron and get some Rosie tones. Thanks!
Have you got a demo video to go through the sounds?
$350 for two simple delay sounds seems excessive, as well as $176 for a clean boost. You could easily save in those areas for a third drive pedal or Wah or some extra fun thing. Just my 2 cents!
Not bad!
Great selection! I love my Nano Qtron. The sound and size gets it there. Add a TS before it then it has that “whomp”! What do you think of going less price on the long delay and adding a Reverb as the 8th pedal?

A good solution could be just finding one delay pedal with a broader delay time that allows you to cover the slapback and long delay in one. Definitely a money saver there.
What do you think about the wampler faux tape for the longer delays?
Id probably replace the Katana with a Katana Mini, Bluesbreaker reissue with a Morning Glory, El Capistan with a Keeley Mag Echo and then use the money saved to get the Qtron plus instead of Qtron and a wah pedal probably the RMC10 or Xotic Wah (JM uses a RMC8 which is quite hard to find)
niceeee
Guys, don’t sleep on the Mooer envelope filter. It gives you those amazing Mayer/Jerry Garcia Q-Tron tones for between $35-$70…. Great video Justin!
JM Trio pedalboard next please!

Tumnus is Klon clone, John did not use the Klon during the Continuum era. But you can still do it, TS into Klon is now a signature Mayer sound.
Maby you could do a video on me next 😏😘
This video is good but I was expecting you'd actually buy and use the gear... Without actually demonstrating any tones, it's only 10% as good as it would've been.
