You should seriously think about getting a set of forklift forks for the backhoe. Our neighbor has them for his bobcat and they are so handy. Another suggestion is to set your log deck so you can park the backhoe between the mill and the log deck. That way you can park between and with the boom you can swing around and pick a log and swing it back to the mill without moving.

Watching Alissa working with all the construction equipment reminded me of my uncles Grandma. She was in her 80's and still running chain saws and climbing ladders to fix the roof. She said it was just faster to do it herself because she had to show the men she hired how to do it and they just hurt themselves and she just had to fix it herself later after thay F'ed it up. She also made the best biscuits.

Asian beatles. Ladybugs are red. The Asian beatle is an invasive species from China that has hitchhiked in cargo containers. They hibernate in winter by massing together in a protected place like bird feeders or anywhere protected from the wind. They freeze solid in the winter, then thaw out in spring and reanimate. They probably like hibernating under tarps too!

I once had the pleasure of visiting a house with a ladybug infestation in the winter. It was a vacation home and when you showed up, everything appeared normal because it was cold. As soon as you turned on the heaters they would flow out of the walls like a river. Soon the air was full of them, they were on every surface, it was bizarre. It could have been worse I suppose, paper wasps or bees or even crickets would have been worse.

My brother has a cat that is the literal twin to Bugaboo, his name's Leo. Literally everything about them is the same; color, patterns, the way they roll over to get their belly's pet, their obsession with boxes, how vocal they are and the different types of sounds to communicate, how much they sleep, everything. Too funny.

I was not referring to time saving so much as wind likes to destroy tarps and the tighter you have them the better. Having a tight bond around the edges makes a world of difference. replacing or retying tarps takes a long time as you are doing the job twice. Most of the time you get an airplane wing effect on the tarps and its the vacuum effect under the tarp that causes the damage and if you can prevent air from getting in to the vacuum area (under the tarp) the tarp will last

Have a look at Scangrips work lights. They also have lights with batterys in them but they also have corded versions with 10000 lumens. Thats nearly three times as bright as the Milwaukee one at a much lower cost. The 10000 lumen light is called Scangrip Nova 10K and there are versions with 5000 and 3000 lumens which are much cheaper then the Milwaukee lights with a better build quality.

Note on fastening down your plastic tarp. I was raised in an area where we would get high winds all season long. We used clear plastic to cover the large windows in the large ranch house windows. We used long stickers to hold the plastic down rather than just nails or screws. we would stretch the plastic and staple in place then go back and put lath over the sills around the entire frame and on a couple windows we put a long piece of lath to keep the plastic from flapping and tearing. thought this might help you

I know this is in hind sight, but if you had a pair if forks made to fit onto the front of your backhoe bucket, you would have/could have saved a lot of time and energy, and they would have paid for themselves ten fold over the course of your build. Also, over the 4-6 mths that I've been watching, you seem to be more than a little perplexed, quite often, about how to approach different phases of your build, only because you're not builders. I don't know if it's too late, but it would probably pay you to have a sit down with an established, well-known Gen'l Contr who could advise you on when and how to approach the next phase, and in fact all phases from start to finish.
