Building a replica of the B9 robot from Lost in Space

Фильм және анимация

A work in progress: building an animatronic replica of the Lost in Space robot called B9. This series aired on TV in the 1960s. I plan to update this robot soon (2021) with new electronics and animations.
Bonus footage at the end: a proposed all CGI version of the Lost in Space TV series which never came to fruition. Designed and rendered in Lightwave and Zbrush used for modeling. Team effort with Rob Depew / disturbedpixels

Bob May (rip) would be put out of a job if he were still with us. lol I could only dream to have the ability & creative mind you have. I have a 10" B9 replica toy which I cherish. To have a full size animatronic B9 replica, PRICELESS!!

Started in the club like 20 years ago and every attempt life has had other plans. Recently life seems to be telling me it’s time to get my b9 completed. Videos like yours make me motivated. Maybe 2024 will be the year of b9.

Truly Inspirational, you and I must must be the biggest Lost in space B9 fans in the world. I went to a Lost In Space convention in Ohio 2003 (with my family) Hosted by the B9 robot builders club we met Bob May (the man inside B9), Don West (the Pilot), sad to say Johnathan Harris (Dr. Smith) was scheduled to be there but past away late 2002. Always loved LIS and was so inspired I went to engineering college. 1 of my inventions is a DJ stand that looks like a robot, keep us posted on progress.

And could you PLEASE post an update on the piece of music used for the first two-plus minutes of your video here? The music was as inspirational as the work you are doing! Thanks for keeping alive those dreams we have as kids!

@tripleJ1955 Yes, although not true function, in that the treads will not carry the weight of the robot (300+ pounds). It will be an illusion carried out by motorized wheel chair motors, some wheels and gears.
