Building a MicroCommodore 64: Hardware, Coding and Gaming
After the MiniCommodore 64, I wondered if it was possible to make an even smaller one. In this video, I build a MicroCommodore 64!

So great to see young people interested in retro computers -- and wearing retro T-shirts! 🙂
So much fun... so glad new generations enjoying old school 8bit stuff
In my country Japan. There are very few retro enthusiasts like Sayaka. I think it's a very valuable asset. Since the economy is in a downturn, I think it is important for Japan to have such human resources.

That comment really surprised me, I always felt Japan was a leading example of a country with many people living traditional, conservative lifestyles and an abundance of people weak in the knees for retro,, I felt that why when I was there myself as well. I do agree with you, an affection for vintage is a mighty fine asset and so is Sayaka.
I was a C64 fanatic as a kid in the 80’s. It warms my heart to see so many young people still involved with the C64 after all these years. Thanks for sharing!
The more I watch soldering, the more confident I feel, great video!

I thought the same but today I was very disappointed with my soldering ability. More online tutorials for me.
Bare Metal C64 the BEST emulation!
It's great to see someone of the new generation being interested in a project like this. It's also great to see they have better soldering and technical skills than I managed to acquire over 50 years.
I for one love this style of your video the best, where you explain what you are doing and then do it. Thank you, love your channel.
I had mine at XMas in... 1983!... Lots of lots of good memories, went quite fast to learning assembly, and joined demo groups quite soon.... The virus never left me, today I'm still a software engineer 40 years later in a big company, and the C64 still lies somewhere in a box in the basement of my house. This is so refreshing to see that young people are still doing so much interesting stuff with that marvelous computer today!
I'm 61, and still have my Atari's 🙂

Your parents were barely born when I had my C64. Thank you for reviving it this way. C64, rocking the scene since 1982.

It's twice the effort. The Italian channel has more subs as well.
Love the commodore plug and play as a kid !
Looks like a fun little unit to put together! I like the way you try and keep us entertained with lots of different projects. Always fun and always interesting. Great stuff!
Fun looking project, i use to love progamming on my C64 when i was young. Realy could loose track of time in it. :)
I am pleased to see you have a better soldering iron now! Pretty good soldering skills too! Might I suggest getting some thinner solder though, for soldering small items like what you are working on. Congrats on completing that project - love the tiny keyboard, though not really practical as you point out!
I love these little project videos! Thanks for making them.
My father worked with electronic components in the 80s and 90s, watching your videos brings back good memories. Thank you! and congratulations on your interest and knowledge, it is a great pleasure to watch your content.
I have listened to podcast you were in 😊 I'm hoping that your channel will grow quickly.. greetings from Nottingham

This is just fantastic! Well done indeed.
This is cute! And so is the Micro C64 :P
Thanks for sharing! Really interesting to watch 👍
Mind - blown; face = melted off... Thank you, you legend. o7
Hey cool, that's some neat coding, nice! :)
This is a cute little project! I love how a full sized USB keyboard just plugs right in and works. Retro without pain.

Honestly, I don´t know how to handle it. Imo Retro needs to provide fun - and - pain to experience the entire feeling - you also wouldn´t put modern technology in an old car you´ve driven back then and expect that it feels and handle the same way as you remember it. It may look the same, but under the hood it isn´t. To - me -, as someone who has a very long experience in using and repairing fairly old computers, it feels like a "lie", if something is emulated, because its still only an Emulation and not the real thing.
These videos just keep getting better and better. Fantastic work!
What a great project and really well put together video to demonstrate it all. Well done you.
Ordering the kit. You are so inspiring to watch. Thank you
This looks like fun! I'm going to make one of these! Whenever I travel I'll have a C64 on the go!
What a great project. Thank you so much.
I wasn't aware of this project. Nice video, well done, Sayaka!
In case you are not aware, the yellow lighting bolt you are seeing on the top right of the monitor is because the Pi is not receiving enough power, so you need a higher current power supply.

This is such a cool kit. Really makes me want to get my commodore 64c up and running.
That was sooo good again *-* Such great production and interesting content. The bouncing ball is really satisfying. Even though simple :). A couple more lines to add some sliders and inputs and you got ping pong.
Greetings from Brazil! 🇧🇷 Great content!
Fun and great project!!! The C64 was an awesome computer. Thanks for sharing!
this girl is exactly what i like as teacher straight to learning
That project is awesome just for the working keyboard alone! Great work!
Glad you like C64,thanks to all videos!
I wish you would make videos more often. I find it wonderful to see old tech from a younger generation's perspective.
What a cozy attic, I love it
Very neat device with all the features you need .
Another great video! Love the choice of music. :)
I love your videos. This project is cool, because we can make a Commodore 64. An original must be very expensive.
Thank you for the video. Another interesting project.
Great work, love it!!!
Outstanding !
Excellent project , thank you
So cool! I love the Commodore 64 - we used to play games on one in my grandparents’ basement. I was confused about the Y for a second, but then I looked it up and learned that in Italian it’s called “ipsilon” like in Greek “upsilon” looks similar. In English, it’s pronounced like “why”. I don’t know why they’re different :) In equations, often Greek epsilon (ε) is a variable that represents a very small number.

Thanks for letting me know. Actually, I got confused because I've been studying for the electrical engineering exam and physics 2 lately, so I was thinking about epsilon zero, the vacuum permittivity😅

@@fnjesusfreak in Dutch we call the Y literally translated a 'Greek "why"', I have no idea what our neighbour Germans call them...

Great job!
Great video! What a fun project. I recently made a PicoZX but I think I might try this one too.
Definitely neat project, cool t-shirt as always ❤👍👍👍
Cool assembling video!👌:)
I really like when you have soldering projects in your videos. The programming part was neat too! My young daughter and I like watching your videos together. She is inspired by you, and is soldering small projects too!

Excellent video!
Kudos!💻

This is soooo Awesome Thank You
I enjoy your content & presentation.
Very cool project. Keep it up. 😀
That was fun!
Every new video you got some more test gear on the table. Very good.
You are very smart and have true passion for what you do I think you are beautiful and much rrspect🌹
Nice work! THX for sharing. :p
New subscriber I love your channel nice to learn something new great video keep it up🤘😎
Good job
I still Have my original C64 from the early 1980s.
Back in the day, I thought emulation software on my Windows computer was neat, so I could run C64, Apple IIe, and TRS-80 Coco apps & games (without having the original computer hardware). But this is cool, in a parallel manner. Love it.
Cool video. Thank you
Another great vid ... I love the shorter format; great job with the editing and the 8bits like music ;) ...

So cool, I've been tempted to build one of these for a while! I have a hybrid BMC setup at the moment - all inside of a real breadbin C64 case, which allows you to use the machine as a usb keyboard for PC/MiSTer as well. It was a fun project!

Wow, that sounds like an amazing project!
Assembling & soldering part always fun to watch. Sayaka, thanks for another video, your engineer's degreej is ust a formality. Making keyboard smaller can go as far as the precision of pressing the aimed key is maintained - didn't want to be rude just an observation and own experience from BlackBerry.
Very cool, bellissima!
Would be good to see you do a co-lab with Kari
I like this project. I find it funny
You look super focused when soldering. I wish I could solder that well, also I like the music in the video.
@Sayaka That is really a fun project. I wasn´t aware that this was a thing. On my channel I do hardware stuff as well, but I am not that good with the soldering iron. 😀Take care.
Great video as always. Please take care of your self I think you inhaled a lot of flux smoke in this video alone. Keep it up
Beautifull🌷
Thanks.
Ti vedo più spigliata, più naturale quando parli, non so se sia una mia impressione, ma seguo sempre i tuoi video su entrambi i canali

yay! the first thing I thought was where's the Sin function in the bouncing ball? But you have to start somewhere!
@MrxIcs-do6mh
20 күн бұрын
Using the sin function to make a ball bounce? Yeah, because that's totally necessary!
Very interesting
You should use 0.71mm or 0.53mm solder instead of the 1mm you are using, it will result in much cleaner joints.
The C64 lives on in many forms!
Neat trick using pokes at 214 and 211 to move the cursor! Would have been funny seeing you try to type in BASIC on the tiny tactile switch keyboard though.
thank you. :D
I love this! Do you want a job as a technician?
Hi! Great video! What did you order to get that whole kit from PCBWay? I only see the PCBs. Thanks!
She so awesome :)
