Great video on how things should not be done. Paint raw metal without undercoat, don’t use mask , no Jack stands under trailer and as for the guy trying to remove the tool box I have no words. Tim can thank his lucky stars his dad works there. Without him total disaster.

On today's episode of how not to do a paintjob and get overspray on everything

You need an etching primer to put onto the bare metal surface first. That will grab onto the steel itself. Then use a good high build pr8mer to grab onto the etching primer. Then put your top coat of black on. Always start from the hard to reach and inside spots. That goes for priming and painting. Do the outside edges and top parts last. This way you don’t have to stretch and over reach spots while trying not to touch what you’ve already painted. Doing this trailer will give you really good practice for spraying. Put your mask on with a decent paint suit!!! Also get one of those big air compressors they use for roadside work on a trailer with a 2” hose for sandblasting. You could blast that trailer and all your truck frames off in no time. It’s a great tool to have for yourself. Don’t waste your time doing a half ass job.

Well you guys covered the mask but ive disvovered i paint my trailers the wrong way i always start on the inside rails first but im starting on the outside from now on

Spray some of that bed liner on the back and top deck would help from being slippery when wet

Watching that guy try and cut them tool boxes off the trailer was agonizing. I don't know how you resisted the urge to step in and take the gri dera d do it your self. Hahahahah I'm way to impatient to stand there and watch someone struggle with something so darn simple.

Exactly! He goes up to Fitzgerald Collision and Brandon gives him some good advice and then he gets back home and shows he doesn’t pay attention to shit. He’ll be lucky if the paint stays inside he didn’t apply etch primer with zinc chromate. And I could care less what any of you ass🤡 say if you don’t have years of experience doing this type of work I do.

I'd use spray on bedliner on my car hauler it's worked awesome

I don't know what kind of heavy haul you are going to do with a tandem trailer . You need a couple more axles on the trailer a flip down neck for a jeep and a 4 axle truck for starters

A respirator will not seal with facial hair. We have to do fit testing every year. What I work with will kill you if inhaled.

I must agree with everyone. You need a mask while painting Tim, but at least it will look like new if you recover from the paint job! I wouldn't paint the wheel studs because of the threads on the studs.

Mr Gentry I've been a oversized load escort for many years You're telling pilot car driven by Mr FSC trucking is going to get you in deep trouble The way he throws blocks behind your oversized load to block traffic is what's going to get you he is going to cause a very serious accident and somebody will own Gentry & son FSC trucking and the oversize that you were pulling there are cameras everywhere now and they will see that he was the aggressor and how aggressively he does drive to block traffic which is unnecessary just a FYI

The dimond plate rust through their because of the water off the tires. Looks good though. That is weird though , normally diamond plate over the wheels because of clearance and wood every where else.

New web girl did a great job on live. You can tell Brax is in love and we threw her some shots. She’ll took em all. Stood up for herself didn’t take any but more important didn’t throw any. She handled the live,watched Brax,and really didn’t get flustered. I’d hire her in a heartbeat….Guy named bandit has the a 86’ Pete with the only factory 3408 made that year. It has two million on the tattletale. He wants to sell it bad. Motor looks brand new same with trans. He’s retired with a bad back. It was put on Y/T yesterday. The body is pretty dated but nice. All custom stainless welds exhaust. He either wants Brax for it or could be steal of a life time. He only hauled coal bucks from W.V. To Georgia with it but I’m guess it hauled them really fast and a lot of them. Oh yeah A heavy haul truck. Poor guy didn’t have a pot to piss in looked like. Probably spent it on fuel,tickets,lawyers and sky high ins.on a single truck

Painting is good, but will never hold up if you don't prime it. You will be amazed how well that trailer paint will hold up if you do that simple step. Without primer, you can scratch that paint off with your fingernails. If you can keep the paint on it, it won't rust up and look like crap.

I'll see some companies lost their shops in tornados heavy d stopped at one place to help homeowner clean up debris from his shop. It was a new shop. Guy said he would rebuild.

DTM or direct to metal paint is very durable and doesn't require primer also makes for easy touch-up without much hassle 😮😊
