    Ive seen professional videos that are not as well done. Hats off to you once again Mr Fletcher, I like the sanding jig. I consider you my mentor in becoming a luthier and I appreciate your advice, your enthusiasm, your correspondence, and your friendship. Its a beautiful build and a coveted instrument once completed, some lucky person will end up with it in their collection. Cheers mate...

    Seems to me the neck was clamped at 12:04 because the fretboard had been glued to the neck. This video is easy to follow if you've watched the previous builds. It skips some of the things that have been documented previously and instead shows what's different.

    Yes, absolutely. You need to slot deep enough to account for the material removed at the sides when you radius. Trial and error. Thickness and radius a scrap piece of wood - Use this sample to cut some test slots. With a few tries, you'll be able to adjust your saw depth guide on the jig for perfect depth slots every time. This of course depends on you using the same thickness fretboard blank each time though (which I do).

    G'day mate. Funny, I very nearly put stainless in both these necks...Stainless are tough on nippers but a dremel cutoff wheel does the job adequately. Apart from that, there's really not that much difference installation wise. I would have no hesitation in using stainless on either of these necks , bound or otherwise.

    The contents of these 2 video's was filmed over 3 months when I had 10 minutes spare between commissioned guitars. Filmed under completely different circumstances to the other 2 builds... Piecing it together into something coherent was a task in itself. I had to be brutal in what I filmed and didn't film. I don't think anyone needs to see my press 22 frets into a neck anymore, I have 2 other video's showing that ;-)

    Rufus, I'd love to say I cut those tiny intricate parts by hand and then routed and inlayed them myself but the truth is I had them CNC'd - They are so small they would be impossible to cut by hand and inlay neatly.

    question? why not bind it the old fashioned way where the binding is cut around the frets? its so easy when you are building they are usually the other way after rerrets as its too hard to do it with the fret board glued to the neck so on refrets they just sand the bumps in the binding flat to the fret board then slot or cut the fret tangs off to clear, man if I was at this stage I would put the binding around the frets so much more comfortable

    Dave, how do handle fret slot depth, when your done radiusing the board ? An issue I have is, cutting fret slot depth, than radiusing it, and the when I go to put frets in, I have to recut the slot depth, because radiusing it took it down so much. Is there a way to avoid this ?

    How deep do you cut your fret slots (keeping in mind that you are adding a radius and therefore the slots will be shallower at the edges) this detail has me totally confused on my acoustic build! Great video's, they have been very inspirational! thanks, Tom

  • @FletcherHandcraftedGuitars

    @FletcherHandcraftedGuitars

    You can always run a test piece of wood through first and adjust your depth. Hard to be spot on when you have to calculate the radius to be added later but if you end up too shallow, a quick once over with a thin kerf handsaw fixes it up
