Love that there's no talking. Watching you work is enough.
Congratulations on your new child. I will keep you ALL in my prayers. You are, I’m sure, a Great Dad. Very Nice bed also.
Beautiful design and craftsmanship. Always learning new tips and techniques, also good to see you cut your mortise and fit the tenons, I always hear no you cut the tenon first so seeing a pro/ classic educated craftsman doing it makes me feel really good : ) Because I’m the type that what ever works best for you that’s fine. Take Care and can’t wait to see the new addition.
I love watching you work, its so soothing. You do everything with such grace.
Your work is always great, Andy and this is no exception.
Thanks for sharing, Andy! Best to you and yours!
Hey, thanks for showing the process. I particularly liked how you pinned the tenons for the headboard....I've been looking for ways to allow for wood movement with a laminated headboard. Now I know!
Absolutely beautiful work! That bed turned out amazing, I've been thinking about building a bedroom set for the wife. We've had ours since 2010...
I am amazed at the progress that you have gotten done. This is an awesome process to watch. God Bless You!
Beautiful work man! So cool!
Verry nice build. LOVE the classical inspired modern design.
Two versions of the old saying. "Happy wife, happy life" and "Ain't Mamma happy, Ain't nobody happy." Both mean the same, keep the most important person in your life happy!

Mike Gray-Ehnert how about both man and wife keep each other happy? Why is it only "happy wife, happy life"?
Awesome job Andy!
Thanks for the video ! What a nice work!
I'm finally building my wife the bed I promised 40 years ago. Better late than never. Nice build. Congrats on the new baby.
Turned out beautiful well done
you are truly a skilled carpenter, love your vids.
Very nice design. Congrats on number 3 on the way.
Another great build from a local master. Always interesting to see your approach to traditional furniture crafting. I am constantly in awe. We are doing a 4 post bed and I certainly rely heavily on more modern tools (aka CNC technology, festool, etc). I also do not have your hand working skills with chisels and planes! Always make me ponder if modern technology is considering cheating or perceived as a lower standard of craftsmanship. Anyway, another nice job Andy!
“Happy wife, happy life” great build Andy. Looks great.
That mortiser is such a time saver. Once again Andy., Love the work you do. Happy wife, Happy life bud.
nice work!
Andy, when I was a kid I spent all my summers on my Aunt and Uncles farm in N. Central Arkansas. In the old log cabin, which was built shortly after the Civil War, there was my great great grandparents bed which was made out of Hickory, but it had no nails or screws. It was held together with wooden wedges and pegs. Have you ever made anything like that?
Perfect. Best wishes 😊
Hey amazing bed, congrats on the kid! Also FYI I been sleeping on memory foam for years. You really need to lay a solid plywood platform down. If not the bed confirms to those slates and can actually hurt you in the end. Hope that helps man :) amazing build super inspired the way you bolted the legs on with the tenons is great idea. I may do that on my bed build.
Great job
That is some fine woodworking, I’m interested to know how you connected the rails on top of the posts
This is such nice work. Hell of a good job. BTW it's happy wife happy life
You are the best bro.
Bela cama, bem estilosa parabéns! 👏👏👏👏
Love the frame! great job! have to say though Casper gets a thumbs down from me, I liked mine for maybe 200 days I have had it for 2 years now. I need to get a new bed.
Custom AR hat looking baller!
Beautiful job on the bed. What type of wood did you make it out of?
thank you
I just picked up an old mortiser like yours. How are you liking it so far?
Great video, but even greater design, I love it...can I ask was your design process?
Awesome bed man, that Casper looks alot lighter than our purple mattress.
Hey I’m starting my own little workshop and crafting things and I’m wondering what wood I should buy for stuff such as plant pots cabinets u know simple things like that I heard pine is pretty good anyone?
amazing video but I wanna ask you something ??? do you have an Amazon link for the bed bolts and nuts?? where I can found it
Hi great video love to watch you making everything. Can you send me a link to the bolts you used please
Haha haha!!! Can't stop laughing..... "You know the saying, a happy wife is a good thing. I think that's a saying." Haha Happy wife happy life buddy!
What type of wood did you use for this bed? I’m sort of new to woodworking and would like to make one in the future. I’m not sure if I should use pine or a harder wood.

I see now on your website that you have used white oak. Would like pine be strong enough?
great job on the bed I think it goes a happy wife makes for a good life
Good video
Hey Andy, pro tip for ya! Laying something flat underneath your mattress on top of the slats is a MUST! By leaving the slats exposed you’re causing your mattress to lay on an uneven support system. This causes the gapped parts to lack the structural integrity they require to give you the good nights sleep you both deserve. Since there isn’t a base, sidewalks, coil core, or any other structural component, the foam just sinks right into those weak spots. If you lay something solid and flat underneath your Casper mattress I’m sure you’ll notice a difference right away!

Dimensions to make one or buy can be found online by searching “bunkie board”
Casper has no hassle on the return. But how do you send it back? In my experience, once it's expanded, there is no sending it anywhere. Does casper somehow let you bring a fully expanded king size mattress to UPS (how would i get it there in the first place?) and ship it back to Casper? Need details here.
Do you have is sketchup file of the chairs that are in the background?
Happy wife is a happy life is the saying you may have been thinking of. Awesome bed though

Andy, now i'm going to build my bed selfmade. Thank you for the inspiration and the " how to "
Great work sir! Best of luck on the birth, prayers for you and your wife (mostly your wife!)

Thanks you for that!
You may want to decrease the distance between the slates. That bed is 100% foam so, you may notice the mattress sinking between them over time.

Would plywood over the slats be better for these types of beds?
@tynorth1
5 жыл бұрын
HolleWood Furniture yup. Mattress manufacturers usually want a maximum of 1 1/2” between the slats. A sheet of plywood would work great.
@berghauss
5 жыл бұрын
@@tynorth1 Unfortunately not, slates provide not only suspension, but also air circulation, thereby discharging moisture. But I agree about the space between them.
@tynorth1
5 жыл бұрын
Berghaus true. A few holes through the ply would be beneficial for air circulation. The plywood on top of the slats would just be able to take the place of a box spring/foundation. With proper spacing in the slats, the mattress would take on a plusher feel without the plywood.
the website is not working.
Where do you get the bed frame bolts?0
What is the next machine you are going to refurb? I think you should look for an old crouch/ritter edge sander.

How come you didn’t rip down that post on the table saw?
Happy wife happy life pretty fricken awesome Andy
Love your vids Andy 10/10
Andy, I may have missed something but will wood movement be a problem in the headboard? I saw you glued both tenons in place. Is rift sawn white oak stable enough across that width? Please don't take this as a criticism of your work, because it is outstanding.
@AndyRawls
5 жыл бұрын
I actually didn’t glue the bottom tenon but just pegged it. There would be an issue if both tenons were glued.
Andy good vid and good luck on the upcoming birth
Is this scale-able to a twin sized bed?
@AndyRawls
5 жыл бұрын
I’m not sure the proportions would look right for a twin. I think it’s even tough to scale up to a king...this bed is best suited at the queen size.
Happy wife. Happy Life. 😊
Nice!
Wait...my wife wants a bed. The bed is for sale? Cmon man. Let her keep the bed

Gidday Andy the 4poster bed was beautiful a simple but elegant design. Just one thing Andy I'm not quite sure how to say this Andy coz I love watching you work Ive been watching it from day one it's, kinda funny coz I'd already watched a project you were working on then Mr Matt demolitia carriker said go follow this guy & well a lot of us did, you're an amazing, talented dude Andy but do you think it's right that we should have to pay to hear your voice. Either way mate I will still watch every vlog you put out for those reasons I outlined above, love your work brother. RustyinOz

Thanks for the feedback. The memberships include longer un-edited videos with the voice overs. I also do a monthly live stream so there’s some added value there. I don’t want to change my style of video and include voice overs, I think it would hurt my channel so that’s why I decided to do the voice overs as extra content. As of now it’s experimental and I may stop in the future. I do still include the closed captions with some added info.

@@AndyRawls thanks Andy I didn't realise there was extra content my bad. You're right about channel I like it unspoken I don't know it's just you & the woodworking speaks for itself it's brilliant. Thanks Andy for putting me back in my place. Can't wait for next vlog. Thanks mate. RustyinOz
