Спорт

Spartans Midlands is without a doubt becoming one of the best Spartan events in the UK. The amazing views of Belvoir Castle make for an incredible backdrop of awesome racing. In this video we see an entire family be put through the various Spartan Races from Daddy doing the full Trifecta, Mummy out on the Super course and the kids haring around Spartan Kids the event has something for everyone....though scheduling it all in can sometimes be tricky as Daddy found out :)

Hi Martin, liked the Spartan Race video, it was an honour to run with you on the Sprint... You mentioned the barbwire crawl (Sandbag) I actually did enjoy, it was just a matter of trying new ways of getting under with the sandbag and carrying moving forward. first I was on my front, then my back, then side ways.. Side ways was risky as the barbwire just scrapped past my right elbow and started to bleeding, I won't be doing the side move again... Rest of the obstacles were fun to do.

I'm running, my first spartan in October in 6 years. I've been training down from a strong woman and trying to improve my overall endurance. I love watching these videos as I learn so much, so when it comes to doing the race I have a little idea what to expect. Thank you for these videos 💪

Great summary of the weekend, I started in the same Beast wave as yourself and was a little disappointed there wasn't age group because of this I felt I didn't have to push as hard and a couple of people Infront just skipped the penalties when they failed but that's the open waves for ya. And my Daughter also ran the same kids race as yours she loved it and she also enjoyed the Sunday kids race as well. The only real downside for me was the photo package I felt if you're paying you should get the full weekend for that price not one day.

I also ran the Trifecta. My second time at Belvoir Castle, I enjoyed it more than the mudfest last year! I equally loathed and enjoyed (for the challenge) the barbwire/mud/sandbag obstacle. But like yourself the best event of the weekend was watching my 7 year old son (also a Charlie) run his first Spartan and push himself all the way. He's never been so proud and went into school on Tuesday showing off his medal and headband 😊

I did the Super on Sunday morning and enjoyed it much more than last years Sprint. The obstacles felt much more what I expected a Spartan to be whereas last year felt like too many Tough Mudder obstacles were included. Agree that the uphill barbed wire sandbag thing was the hardest obstacle by a mile! I finished in 2.07 which I was actually really happy with as I was under strict instructions from my physio to not run more than 20% and walk the rest. Fingers crossed will run the whole thing next year. Didn’t get to say hello to you in person though but glad your whole family got involved and are in good health.

Thoughts on value for money? I enjoyed the event and got the buzz enough to look for next year but it's too expensive for me now. Adding on the £30 for a handful of photos (none of me at Atlas or sandbag carry and the rest were just multiples of the same). I'll get the kids on again but thinking I might look elsewhere.
