Building a droid & bamboo forest with garbage :: Scratchbuilt Sci Fi Diorama
PATREON LINK: / gameyybuilds
Join me as I make this scratch built Japanese robot on horseback riding through a bamboo forest using paper, card stock, erasers, wire, pieces from an old Gundam model, pens and markets, and lots and lots of glue. Enjoy!

That is super kind of you to say, Morgan!
True love: helping someone out with a maddening task to help make it less maddening. 😍
As I see, you don't shy away from fiddly and demanding projects. Hats off!
Making the bamboo seemed very therapeutic…grasshopper.
Love your creativity man. Extremely inspiring.

I feel the pain when you glue those paper leaves. I helped my sister put together a high end model kit and it had paper leaves that you had to glue to wire. It took me a week to get all the leaves to stick and not be in danger of falling off with a stupid amount of glue being used in the process.
It looks AMAAAAAAZING!
That mishmash of bamboo pens looked really wild when it came out of the oven
Awesome star wars visions vibe! Pleasantly surprised at how soon this video came. Do you work on one project at a time or do you have various builds in progress at once?

Hey! Only one project at a time, they take up quite a bit of space when being built. Haven’t seen SW Visions yet, I’ll check it out!
You’re super awesome !!!
Loved the build and the humour! You've got yourself a new subscriber. (And the ground also reminded me of brownies)

I know right? I actually had a cookie monster joke in there but it got cut for time!
Man, I LOVE your videos! So creative, and beautiful, and funny as all get out!
Absolutely love the shape language if this droid! The creativity you have with using odd bits and bobs is super impressive, I think I would fail abysmally trying to build anything like this. And a trick I’ve seen from North of the Border for semi curing polymer clay is to use a heat gun! It may still melt the plastic of the pens and stuff but I think it would fare a bit better than the oven.

Definitely learning as I go. I'm not sure that it's gotten easier with each finished build, but I do think it's getting faster, so that's something!
You'd be good at making stop motion movies to tell your stories along with comic books 📚 .
Unfortunately, I have now officially watched every single video on your channel. I mean, that's good, because it was a lot of fun... but now I have to wait for more :D I'm looking forward!
Thanks for the many smiles this build gave me. Using a Dremel to turn a stallion into a gelding was great, and the ape with a saw made me do a spit take. For the leaves, if the need arises for a future build, may I suggest making a punch out of stainless steel tubing. A grinding wheel can sharpen the end and a squeeze with pliers will give you the shape. Three sizes should be all you need, then stack the painted paper sheets and one blow will give you many leaves of different colors. Also, for ridges on plastic tubing, I use a pinpoint butane lighter. Twirl the tube in front of the flame until it softens and lightly push the ends together. Hope I helped a little. I'm looking forward to seeing more of your fabulous work.

How do you manage to keep your hands so clean!? Minimum paint smears and no super glue encrusted fingers.. it’s impressive.. I am very envious of this superpower you have.

Nothing special, but typically I have a roll of tissues/paper towels handy for any smears or spills, and I try to use only what I need for paint and glue, so maybe that helps?

@@gameyybuilds Makes sense.. keeping it clean and organised.. although I still think it is impressive, how ur fingers aren't covered in super glue by the end.

I would be super proud to place this finished piece on my shelf. There is a fair amount of details that are surprising for such a supousedly "simple" build.
Really enjoyed seeing you learn various lessons as you went through this build. The end result was well worth it.

Couldn't you have used alcohol markers for the green and braun paper? Like you did in every other video 😆. You do great!! I enjoy every video!

Yes, but alcohol markers wouldn't have given me the texture of the brushstrokes, which I thought would look more like bamboo leaves!

I've not had any luck finding thick aluminum foil, any suggestions? Love the videos and projects!
@gameyybuilds

Not sure how thick you mean, but Costco’s Reynolds brand is pretty heavy duty, and it comes in huge rolls. Cheaper than the grocery store. I use the dollar store version which is thin, as I find it easier to work with.
I'm a little disappointed you didn't get the thumb to stay in the build but given what you have done with it since this video, it looks like you put it to good use. Thanks Dylan. I'm a self-taught artist and got into making these models in August of last year. I've done some plastic snap together models years ago but this stuff is new to me, which is the reason I make so many mistakes! Thanks for your kind comment but I still consider myself an amateur!
