Building a Classical Guitar #8 'Avenir" - Part IV: Assembly. Christian Crevels Handmade Guitars

Музыка

No music, no talk, just the craft and its sounds.
Handmade construction of a Classical Guitar by Christian Crevels, guitar maker.
Finally the guitar is assembled, or, how sometimes is called, the box is closed! Always an exciting moment when a former pile of wood takes the ever recognizable shape of a guitar.
There is still much work to do before it finally sings, but the time has come to name, number and label this instrument.
In this video one can see the process of assembly as it happens with my hybrid style of neck joint. There is a lot of alignment and contact checks, but believe me, much less then before I devised this method. I am always looking at ways to assure everything goes well on glue-ups and improve my process.

Hello, You've done a great job. Well done! May I ask you if the soundboard is domed? Did you use the solera?

Thanks! Yes, the soundboard is domed and I used a solera. It's around a 2mm dome, if you look closely you can see the flexing of the soundboard when I apply the go-bars, it's being pressed on the shape of the solera and getting the dome this way.
