Joining the Plates for Classical Guitar - Christian Crevels Handmade Guitars

This video focuses on joining the plates with the traditional cabinet-makers method with ropes and wedges. This process is suitable for gluing both the soundboard and the back plates, as seen here. A small variation using spacers allows gluing the back plates with an ornamental strip in the middle.
I am a fan of low-tech methods like this. Easy, cheap, simple materials, and no waste. The wedge pulls the ropes giving the necessary clamping power for the glue line, and in turn the tight ropes push the wedges down on the plates, keeping them from buckling up and maintaining them flat.

I definitely would. In fact, I was looking for a one piece back for a romantic guitar project, but sadly couldn't find in the species I wanted.
