The Bridge - The making of a Classical Guitar - 'Benu'

Музыка

Guitar #10, 'Benu'.
There is something that really pleases me in shaping the bridge of a classical guitar. Is a very delicate and intimate process, for which I especially enjoy the use of my hand tools.
My guitar number 10 'Benu' has a beautiful and light aged Red Western Cedar that will pair with the back and sides of 'Green Ebony'. The bracing is my take on the traditional 7-Fan Bracing System, based in Hauser, with inspirations from Friederich for the Cedar.

Some say the bridge is the most important brace. I like that thinking

Well done. Positioning the bridge is definitely crucial and I think I check mine three or four times before I commit. I’ll actually position it, check it a few times, walk away and check it a few hours later before the tape goes down. I’ve never considered laminating strips between the bone. That looked awesome and I’m stealing that idea for the next one.

Yes, I check many times, from different references: the 12th, the nut... I've got it wrong once and wouldn't like to do it again. Glad you like the idea! Be sure to share with me the results!

Wonderful video. Thank you. Regarding the break angle: not only can the 12-hole method provide a better break angle, but it also provides a consistent break angle.

Thank you 👍 I enjoyed your patience, precision skills and calm. You have a great talent and passion. I try to make a bridge and saddle for my guitar which is an old acoustic Mayfair one( I think it's an early Japanese Mayfair handmade guitar) You are an inspiration

Excellent video. How much of compensation do you add to your final placement of the bridge?
