Build A Simple Scenic Display Stand For Modern Armor
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
My friends, here's a simple example of a miniature (although large in size) vignette suitable for armor models. This one depicts an urban environment, but on a very limited space, and because of that, I wasn't able to tell the story using buildings. Instead I tried to implement other features from our everyday lives to give it more character. It's a lot of fun, so if you have some modern armor yourself, give it a try!

Disclaimer: I have a good relationship with a handful of modelling brands and stores, namely VMS, Michigan Toy Soldier Company, and AK-Interactive. As such, I'm happy to use their products/services, and show them in my work. In return, they support my efforts in this hobby, although my hands are not bound nor am I obligated to push one brand or the other. Being independent from exclusive sponsorship deals, and instead showing you a variety of paints, techniques, and mediums was one of the founding ideas of this channel and I will always stand by this.

A diorama of a T54/55 in a modern day scene, dug in and used as artillery with some interesting modern equipment around, maybe a shot out drone crashed nearby would be pretty cool

Or a drone flying above it ready to drop a grenade through an open hatch.

Probably it's a bit to early to build a scene from "all we know where". And that T55 would be completly covered under the camouflage out of vegetation, camo tarps and God knows what more. Not to mention the cope cages, cope wire nets, or anti drone "field garages" maded out of nets...
Honestly, the dioramas are my favorite videos on the channel
Another nightshift video! Let’s gooooooooooooooooooooooo. The fact I saw the notification of this new video while building a Tamiya Sherman is just perfect:)
Ridiculously good, looks like a tank from the Congo or something.
this is perfect! i was thinking about converting a takom 1/35th scale STuG 3F into the famous "Disco Panzer" and this diorama setup is perfect help! thanks uncle!
Your work on the New Puma is simply awesome with the way you've added the Wooden pallets, also the modern plastic Barrels.
Cool. 🙂👍 - The Maschinen Krieger diorama was *AWESOME!* I'd love to see him do a S.T.A.L.K.E.R. diorama!!!
Dude, I haven't seen your last video yet and you already uploaded a new one? You're a legend!
Hi Night Shift! I'm probably gonna get swallowed by the hoard of other comments on here but I'll try my best: I've been watching your videos for a decent while and recently I found myself wanting to get back into this kind of stuff, but its hard because I dont know where to start and what to do! I know this sounds dumb but you should make a detailed long-form video on what a beginner, such as myself, would have to do/buy to start the diorama/model journey.
Incredibly awesome. Andy's Hobbys Headquarters just came out with clear display cases for models. I believe he's got a European connection also.

Without doubt the top modeller we are luckily enough to have. Videos are always interesting , thank you .
It's amazing how the tank and landscape got together perfectly, so well done!!!
Thank you , Uncle Martin . 🐺 Loupis Canis .
Simple but awesome base. Handy trick: If you just add a few of drops of dishwashing liquid to the diluted PVA glue, you won't need to use IPA to break the water tension.
Very effective. Very well done.
Your one of the best channels on KZread.
Just want you to know....I'm a lady in southern Texas,USA who does not make much...im just not that crafty....BUT I ❤❤❤ watching those of you who do! Your very funny especially when you laugh at some of your jokes ....I love ur older bloopers...it just makes you very charming! I watch & subscribed to your channel and I just wanted you to know that there's a lady far away who thinks the world of you! I say this all with respect, to you & the lady in your life. Thanks for the videos
Please give us just one airplane Uncle. I know you won’t but I still love you.
"My Friends" I haven't even started watching the video yet! I actually shouted that when I saw the notification.
Funny. This reminds me of the german urban training area that my unit used to go to. It was deaigned before WW2 by the german army and hitler haf the entire town moved and the buildings were used sincefor MOUT. We used them in late 93/early 94 because my battalion was going to Macedonia and we needed the LIC training(low intensity combat). Yes. It sucked. So many limitations. But still fun. We watched German infantry with the Marder do training and it was pretty funny to watch. We ended up training our german suater battalion. At the time, they didn't train as much as us so every chance they could train with us, they took it. I have a hikarious story of a German armor battalion going thru a 30 day gunnery rotation at Graf with us. Letd just say they were not used to 30 days of field work. Lol
Amazing work! This build reminds me of the real life APC which had the words "Free-Wifi" painted on the side while being covered totally using wood as a buffer. I hope one day someone can make a diorama of that one as well

If you're looking for a very unique wartime diorama to do, I'd suggest looking up the Emu war. Essentially after the war a bunch on returned servicemen took it upon themselves to use their surplus hardware to try and cull a heap of Emus. And..... lost. Its kind of a running joke in Australia that we lost a war to a group of flightless birds.
All I can say is you have a frantic eye for detail and the knowledge to recreate it.
I haven’t watched one of your tuts for a while, so binge watching today. This has totally blown me away….your modern era vehicles with pallets, bedsteads, wire etc are stunning….and no, there isn’t anything wrong with you at all!😂😂😂😂
A very nice Display. Thx for showing.
Another incredible vignette 😊😊😊😊
Ma friend, that looks great...
Fantastic scenery techniques and final results!!
I love these vignettes/dioramas set in artificial settings. I hope some day I'll see you make a model of a vehicle parked alongside a church, perhaps with some intricate marble reliefs made with a 3D printer, and tinted glass.
Perfect, as always.
speaking as a old OG fan from your earlier days, i can say that your work just continues to impress me and inspire me! i love these dioramas you make and they just keep getting better and better! keep it up man!
Very cool 😎 Thanks again Uncle Night Shift.
Boulder Creek Railroad only uses his static applicator for fine particles of grass, he recommends using tweezers for large tufts as well!
A tank modeler talks about us railroaders? No way!
you are such an inspiration and teacher
Awsome job for awsome result ! Congratulations from a railroad modeler !
For the ground of my dioramas i need old coffeepowder (first i drink a good coffee 😅), woodglue and water. Mix it together and ready is my dark ground. Regards from Austria 🇦🇹.
Beautiful job as always Uncle.
19:37 'But hey, that's the beauty of modelling! Doing pointless stuff so we can sleep better' (c) Uncle Night Shift
This is so hypnotic! Thank you man 👏👏👏👏👏
"Simple" hahaha, it would take me a year to paint all that stuff individually. Amazing work! Although I gotta say, your vids are a real inspiration, they made me try doing the individual stone highlighting on a tiny scenic display. It payed off.
Remarkable as usual. Love your channel.
Your builds are always mind blowing! When are you going to make a miniature gaming table and just completely blow up the internet!? Let's see some Bolt Action!
Outstanding work as usual, incredible attention to detail. Thank you mah friend.
Muh Friend - brilliant- as usual!
freaking crazy as always. it looks like rendered but way better cause its real...its crazy
I'm building a base for a "barn find" 1954 Chevy in 1/25 scale and will buy some cork sheeting and acrylic thin putty to try your method - thanks for the video!
Incredible work as usual Martin 👏 Your definition of “simple” is very different from mine!
Skills! As for your publishing schedule - stay happy, man!!
I am a simple man. I like what you do when you just pinished cutting and priming the cork and would be more then happy. To me it looked good. And rthen you add this and that 20+ layers and steps. and it looks better after each of them. Because im not aware of what can be done with all these layers, as im a simple man.
Great Work modelcomrade.. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Definitely giving your concrete style a try!
Yesss! Uncle Night Shift uploaded new video!!! 🎉🎉🎉🥳🥳🥳
Great video man! Also sweet idea/set, please consider making more modern armour! (For example an Israeli Merkava, or an Australian ASLAV-25!) 👍
You make it look so real great job
Love this!! I have been so scared of airbrushing my diorama material typically sticking to the colors in the grass/rocks/dirt I lay down. You have made me reconsider my approach to creating a more uniformed landscape. I hope it works!
Always always Excellent.....
Stunning.... muh Friend....
Wow... That concrete..!
Amazing as always NS!
Wow !!! Awesome !!! It's seems to be so simple and easy with you !! Tank you so much for yours vidéos. It's always à pleasure ! Keep going ma friend !!👍👏👏👏 you're the Best !!!
The first time I saw you make one of your scene bases I was thinking “dam, that looks pretty good” then u painted the whole thing dark brown and that threw me off some much. In the end though it always looks better
You're the reason I got into the hobby! Cannot thank you enough sir! I wish to shake your hand one day brother!! :DD
That concrete looks amazing! I love watching your work and the techniques you use to get such great results. Cheers!
Dude there is nothing simple with your awesome work. Brilliant video .
😮 mindblowing!
Brilliant!!! Simple stand but I think it’s the best one you have completed. Well done.
Great video with lots of awesome tips for us!Thanks nightshift!
Wonderful result. Idea! Add some 21st century rubbish along the fence line. 😊
thank you for the great content. always impressive to see everything come together.
We are lucky for your videos
It's just so good. I'm inspired every time I watch these videos. We love you Uncle
fantastic as ever Martin! I'm going to give the cork a try!!
Hello Uncle Night Shift. Thanks for your Video. I enjoyed it :D
vert nice diorama
I feel like it could have used some garbage. Chip bags, soda cans etc. Other than that once again 11/10 knockout model/vignette. Absoluetly awe inspiring every single time.
Wonderful !
It is breathtaking! Although sometimes that I feel the highlights are a little bit over exacturated. But it sure bring out much more interest. And after all, aren't we looking for more interesting things?
Sem Palavras a não ser Perfct. ❤
Awesome job!
Love that effect with the cork as concrete! I wonder if this would work on a smaller scale too?

You should try some American support vehicles most of them are usually weathered such as lhs the wheeled wrecker or the tracked wrecker the m88a2
Would love to see you do a wreck diorama of the Danton battleship wreck
Great work 😊
Awesome work🤩🤩👍👍👍👍👍
BRAVO kamarada ❤
Fantastic work; I know I'd be buttoned up in a urban setting.
wow, I'm looking forward to the next diorama. What will it be? What are you up to next?
Fantastic work of art, my friend
Just amazing
Your diorama bases are really nice and compliment the vehicles placed on them. Would very much like to see you do a WWII Japanese fighter plane with all the chipping and weathering they are known for.
Outstanding!!
Was für eine fantastische Arbeit. Super toll ❤❤
Amazing! looks like 3d model
Great video!! Thanks for sharing your work is amazing.👍🏻😁
