Great video, I want to make a studio in a spare sitting room at home but not sure of the width that is needed for a dedicated headshot space, the room is at least 5m long which is ok but 3.20m wide, do you think it's wide enough to get some kickers in this space? any help would be appreciated.

Hey Rod! That space is not too different to what I have. To be honest, the 5m length is probably more important because you want to have the length to seperate them from the backdrop and also give you enough space to use a longer lens. 3m should be fine for putting in kickers and al the other lights. You'll have to negotiate your way around the light stands but there are mounts in place that you can use from the ceiling or walls that makes things way more tidier. Something I still use today for kickers are the Ice lights from Wescott. They are way smaller than traditional lights and work really well. Let me know how you go! Dan

Good afternoon Dan, I'm talking about Brazil, how are you? Let me ask you... recently I'm using white photographic backgrounds for my corporate portraits, but with the photometry dropping to beige I realize that it looks very elegant and a variation of gray and black, which are common that photographers use, but here's the question: is white common to use in business photos? (the client in question really liked the tone of the background I used) Hugs and excellent class.

Hi Jose! Thanks for your questions. The answer is that you can use any colour you like. I have also done exactly like you and used a faded type of effect on the background and it looks really nice. I still do every once in a while. The colours I use are white, grey and black. Those colours go with everything. To be honest, the approach changes from country to country. (sometimes even from city to city in the same country) If you find that your customers like a particular backdrop, make note of it and use it as data to analyse the customer demand. For the last 8 months or so, I have been using grey as my backdrop for about 90% of my shoots and my customers love it. Hope that helps. :-)

Hi! How do you follow up with a client who has denied my proposal? I would like to take the opportunity to ask a question or two about what made them choose someone else over my business but I’m not sure how to do it tactfully.

I've done this via email. I've used a form from survey monkey to get feedback from them. It works as long as you don't come across as trying to change their mind.

Listen carefully to what they are saying, take notes on key answers and ask open ended questions to keep them engaged. If you need to, do reversal questions if they fall off script based on your notes. Remember, they are buying your service, but you as well. Price can be the biggest factor if thats all they want. Cheap. Get to know your competitors, their work, good and bad.
