In the midst of your grief you can be thankful that you had a brother that you mourn losing... Lost my brother in 2018. Only 2 years separated us, but we couldn't have been further apart...
My dad passed away about 5 years ago. He would have loved your channel. He grew up in the Depression and had learn how to fix things with whatever was available. He took pride in a grey 2wd Chevy that had some "weight reduction areas" that he "fixed" with grey duct tape and spray paint. He was also proud that the rims on the passenger side didn't match the rims on the driver side. He just liked driving his old pickup. Didn't care a bit about what anyone thought. He and my Mom grew up in North Dakota so I know all about "Uff-da", also! 😊
Hey Derek love your show i like that you are a family man and include your boys and wife in your clips. Look forward to watching new material keep being who you are dont change anything . Really like the jeep always wanted one .

Yes Derek's videos are great for helping someone get through some rough times. I'm going through rough times myself currently and there are times when an emotional lift me up is vital. In fact, his videos including some that are pretty old, and some videos from a few very select others where on KZread, have been priceless and have been helping immensely with my healing and recovery for most of the last 3 months of hell, and I credit those select few channels with my progress on relearning how to walk again. (I made a phone holder that fits on my walker so I can watch and increase my determination to succeed at walking because being able to walk and stand is the only way I can get back to being able to work on a couple of car projects of mine.
Whoever's reading this, i pray that whatever you're going through gets better and whatever you're struggling with or worrying about is going to be fine and that everyone has a fantastic day! Amen

Dereks closing words at the end of the video... that's a real motivation speech. WOW ! What a GREAT recovery of an old classic. Ole Geezer Gear Head here(papasmurf7597). When I was a kid, a million years ago(late fortys-early fiftys), Packards similar to that one, were a pretty common sight. You were right n your comment. THEY were a higher quality automobile. UNAPPRECIATED! My ole man(my father) was a professional auto mechanic dating back to the 'T' days. He also would say that you could balance a quarter on the head of a well tuned Packard straight 8. Funny to hear you say the same thing. BTW, if my memory serves me right, Packards did install a V8 in either '55' or '56'. And, I think, I may be wrong with this info, those Packard V8s could be bored out safely, 1/4 of an inch. Without ruining the engine block. Thanks for this great video. I sure enjoyed it. Sorry for the long comment.
These ae the kinds of cars that I dig.. You get that nostalgic feel when you drive them without all the panic that one might get scratched.. A man can enjoy it.

I think one of the biggest flaws was the overly long crankshaft limits it's potential somewhat, but if modern metalurgy could fix that, then you need to be able to design a car that can accomodate that long of an engine. That said, any car that has one is instantly cool.
Wish more car guys thought like you with your style here. Well done. Preserving patina the best way. Good reminding people; you don’t have to put a ton on money into an old car. It is often better as a survivor with the bumps and bruises that show individuality. And that is the stuff people notice. Allows more conversation, and there is no comparing of individuality 👍🏼
