For those who are not familiar with Bangkok, these condominiums are located in Nonthaburi which is an area on the outskirts of Bangkok, not in the center. This is a non-tourist area and you will be immersed with the local Thai population. Unless you're taking the MRT, traffic could be horrendous in and out of the city during certain hours. I just came back from a month-long trip to Thailand and I did spend some time in Nonthaburi, so I'm very familiar with this area. These condos are a steal for the right type of individuals! To live there, you must be the adventurous type; the type of person who enjoys mixing in with the locals and who doesn't need to live in central Bangkok in the touristy areas.

@kevinp8108 Great comment, and as a person who is not familiar with Bangkok, but who is planning on moving there, I would like to get your opinion on the area reviewed in this video. I do like the area, and especially the size of the units in this development. So since you have stayed in this area....do you think that I'd be okay living there with the Locals, even though I don't speak a bit of Thai?? And Project Bangkok, I'd appreciate your opinion as well! Thanks, and I'll look forward to your replies.

@@georgeandy6923 - As a Thai-American who can see both sides of the coin, my advice to you as a new arrival to Thailand...I highly recommend that you find a condo in the touristy area of Sukumvit. The reason why is that you will need an area where English is widely spoken and where you can meet other expats who can help with your transition in your new town. Living in Nonthaburi as a new arrival is like learning to swim at the deep end the pool. You'd be living amongst the locals who may not speak English. Restaurants may only have signs and menus in Thai. It will be a difficult transition if you move directly to Nonthaburi and you may feel isolated and lonely. I would definitely find a condo for 6 months to a year in central bangkok, get acclimated to your new home, and then venture outside the tourist areas where the Thai locals live and where the rent is cheaper.Hopefully, after one year, you will have some proficiency in the Thai language and you may be able to communicate with the locals.
This is mental! Proper deal. I don't think ppl know there are countless deals like this in Bangkok, some with even better value. Some in the city center, but most right outside of it. If you're not afraid to live outside of the tourist areas and get a real taste of Bangkok then your options are literally endless. Great find, Rob. Keep em coming!

Holy cow, those are the cleanest and nicest small shops and laundromats I've ever seen. So, Rob, in the states that would be a large one bedroom. Still a really nice space for the money. You couldn't get a closet for $500 anywhere in the states today.

Been watching Thai videos for a long time, but few ever answer the questions I feel we need. Too many all have same type of info. Like a condo tour is good, but how to hunt for the condo, what apps/websites can you use to shop for them that are honest and good quality? Can you bring girls to these places, can they get up to the apartments or do you have to go meet them outside to get them in? What classified ad sites to find things like movers or maids? How do delivery services get up to your condo? Anyways, the big channels blow off these little topics, but just found you and you are pretty cool to watch and deserve more subscribers. Maybe some unique info can distinguish ya.

If you owned a condo.. would you rent it out to someone for just a month so they can use it like a holiday home? You have to remember Bangkok is a city and not a holiday resort. Your best bet is a hotel.. or Airbnb but of course pay for the privilege of using someone’s home in that way

No need to be so negative about it. I would just like to test the waters and get a feel of how it is to live in these places like locals. I am not looking for a holiday stay or a touristic vacation. I know airbnb is a thing but you pay easily double the prices when you choose to go that way. I don't have the money to pay 1 whole year for a condo that I can only use for max 3 months and I also don't want to pay foreigners who rent out overpriced airbnbs. I've seen condos that are not tied to a 1 year lease (so far very few though) ... I guess this is just an exception.

So Rob, I would like to get your opinion on how much one would need to live in Bangkok, with their housing being one of the units you showcased in the video. I know much will depend on the person, but say a person does most of their own cooking, and rarely goes out on the town.....how much in USD do you think they would need in your opinion beyond the roughly $500 that they would pay in rent per month. Thanks, and I look forward to your opinion. Also, thanks for these Great Videos!!

Generally anywhere in SEA you can live well on minimum $1,500.00 monthly provided you don't live a party lifestyle. The longer you are in a city the cheaper it becomes as you learn where to shop and understand the culture more. If you are a retired person from the West it's important to consider a location where medical care is good, a long term visa is doable and you have access to the hobbies you may want to pursue in your retirement. Seven years full time in the Philippines for me and no regrets, life is good.

@@kanointhephilippines8082 Awesome info Rob, and thanks! And yes, I am approaching Retirement and have been thinking about relocating to Thailand, even if just for a few years...if not longer. And you are absolutely correct, one of the things that has been paramount in my decision making is health care. I am blessed to not have any major health issues, but I have had some issues in the past that are now going very well. But either way, access to excellent health care is something that I pay close attention to. And your estimate of 1500 per month sounds Great, and just as you said, it should go down from there as I learn the lay of the land. So right now, it's a toss up for me in terms of living in Bangkok or Pattaya. I'd be curious to know you recommendation between these two cities??

You appear to pay scant attention to kitchen and washing machine facilities. Perhaps cooking there is not good, they need extractors etc. Although many people including me would take advantage of all the food markets close by . There will be times you do want to use the kitchen and washing machine facilities as required...but it does look good I like it so far. Perhaps you could include kitchen bits and pieces and washing machine equipment in your next posts.

Looks more like being sold as a single bedroom apartment, but now set up for rental using the lounge/dining area as a second bedroom instead. Who's gonna get to use the dining table first! Further, I suppose you don't need to cook at home, seeing the pausity of any stove top and the relative cheapness of eating out in Thailand.

@@ProjectBangkok For me, dirtiness and odor, foul smells are BIG turn offs. I can't live in those environments. Those and areas infested with bugs and mosquitoes. That is why I am hesitant to travel to countries like Thailand.
Although I like these condos, they look a little too Airbnb-ish to me with the random beds in the living rooms and the large dining tables. They aren't really 2 bedrooms, because all they did was stick a bed in the living room. I plan to cook, so I need more than a microwave. I would rather have a smaller place, with a nicer kitchen. I've noticed this problem with Bangkok. It's hard to get everything you like in one place. I do not want a refrigerator in my living room, I want it by the kitchen sink and stove.
