Happy Birthday Buddy. Today would have been your 81st birthday. You were just a young man of 22 when you left the world in Feb. 1959. Gone but NEVER forgotten! You influenced countless of artists & musicians over the decades and your songs have been and STILL are played around the world! You left us with such a powerful and tremendous legacy of music and all was accomplished in a short period of time! A super talented young man who made many pick up a guitar and want to learn "That'll be the day", Peggy Sue, Rave on, Maybe baby, Oh boy and on. You are missed by many and we can only wonder and imagine what other great songs you would have recorded as time moved on. Happy Birthday Buddy, Rest in Peace and Thank you for the wonderful legacy of music you gave to us all......................

Mike Pender,one of the original members of The Searchers saw him perform at the Phil, in Liverpool, actually. His description of the show is quoted on Jim Carr's bookabout the UK tour on p109.

I like the use of Untitled Instrumental as the first song. a very subtle hint of who they were about to reveal

Sorry Vincent their first single was Come on by chuck berry. Their first UK hit was ‘I wanna Be your Man’ by Lennon/Macca and their first song on side one of their first US album was ‘ Not Fade Away’ it was their first song on the US charts.

By the way Buddy started it all. ‘ Well Alright’ years ahead of its time. His vocals could go from soft and vulnerable to rough and raunchy in one line. Like , ‘it’s so easy to fall in love ‘ it’s so easy to fall in love’ the second fall has a growl. The the line ‘ look into yet heart and see... ‘ all soft then back to harsh. He had masterful control over his vocals and an in credible rhythm on his guitar. The jingle jangle sounds of George Harrison and the sound of the Byrds (Roger McGuinn) all came from Buddy.
