I can’t see anyone else doing that song justice, except Sir Tom Jones. 84 and is still The Voice. Can you imagine Sam Smith being there?

Very handsome. Thank you to all the men who fought against Hitler. As a Brazilian mixed race of Indians, Italians and Spaniards, I thank them. I ask God to bless your souls and your families.

I wept for days after I heard this and keep coming back to play it again. Also, Tom Jones somehow keeps looking better as he ages. The way he stands, his facial expression, he just evolved magnificently. One would think his voice would be frail at 80, but like everything else about him, his voice... well, his voice left me speechless this time❤❤❤❤

WE DIDN’T RUN AWAY We were at war. Thousands volunteered, then went through conscription. Children were evacuated, women joined the forces, worked in the fields and munitions factories. Everything was saved and recycled. We built air raid shelters in our gardens. We didn’t run away to another country. People too old to fight became air raid wardens, police men, home guard, firemen etc. Women drove the ambulances and provided tea and sandwiches. They trained to be nurses and left home for the first time. We dug up our gardens and parks to grow food. We had our food rationed. We didn’t run away. We fought for our country. We learnt how to keep pigs and chickens. Delivered milk to towns. We lived in the blackout for years, went to work in the dark. We were bombed relentlessly week after week. Many worked deep in the mines and in the fields. but we didn’t run away. Our men were slaughtered, our women and children were slaughtered, our ships were sunk, our cities decimated, our aeroplanes shot down, In every town and village, there was someone who died. We did this for 6 years . . .and still we didn’t run away. UK 🇬🇧🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🇮🇪🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

It’s taken until today to actually listen to this through to the end. Each time I managed just a few seconds. Tom, from this former Soldier a proud Royal Anglian and one now fighting my final battles alone, this is The Song, this is The Anthem for All our Fallen and All our living and more importantly this IS our Anthem to bring this country up off its knees. Thank you.

After 60 years our Tom still at the very top. I think his voice has actually got a little better with age. The term legend is way over used these day. But this man truly is a legend in every possible way.

Col Churchill was a friend of my fathers and stayed with us in Brisbane . I was probably about 8 or 9 at the time .. He wrote to me for a number of years after, I of course wrote to him in return. he sent me a painting of himself as the Col Comdt of the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders. He always referred to the English as Sassenachs ( a derogatory Scottish term ) for the English. Also i can remember he remarked in one letter how they were taking the kilts away and having to wear British postman's uniforms. . It was only later in life i learnt he was an Englishman
