I love how the Dealer keeps making misplays even when odds are telling him to do the other. He's not a tryhard trying to win and that's that - he's a gambler just like you are and loves rolling a good dice, even if he ends up shooting himself in the face. It makes him very endearing in a weird way.

It’s 80% strategy. He makes the best play you could have in the scenario, with a few minor mistakes but bounces right back. And when he miscounts, strategy still comes in play, but also with his luck.

@@rex4765 Exactly, i also like to think that if this game ever gets any updates that adds new strategies, characters or entities to play 'Buckshot Roulette' with, that there's a specific entity that tries to assumes the role of the Dealer, but throws all possible fairness out the window and is just constantly out to win no matter how much it cheats, i dunno, i like the juxtaposition between 'The Dealer' and 'The Cheater.' and if you mention that guy to the Dealer, he's just gonna be like 'Disgusting.' or maybe the Dealer and the Cheater have like a rivalry or some shit like that, this is complete headcanons btw but i'd like to see more stuff like this.

The dealer doesn't actually count the rounds. Unless they use the magnifying glass or it's the final shell, the dealer just flips a coin to see who to shoot basically. So the player can count to keep track and give an advantage but the dealer can't.

@@kidfury1114It’s with how the dealer AI works. The dealer has no idea what is in the chamber unless he uses the magnifying glass or it’s the last bullet in the chamber. When he doesn’t know what’s in there, he has a 50/50 chance to either shoot the player or shoot himself. Meaning it’s literally a coin flip.

The other playthrough I watched the Dealer was just mercilessly wombo comboing the guy with items to ensure obliteration

The AI has a 50/50 chance to shoot the player or himself every turn (unless he's used the magnifying glass) so that was just some wild luck. Funny thing about the magnifying glass as well- the dealer is programmed to try to use as many items as possible every turn, in the order he picked them up in, meaning he can use the magnifying glass then use a beer to rack it, but his AI still thinks he "knows" what it was from the glass, so you get some funny situations out of that.

Yup. His AI is pretty simple. If he knows what shell is loaded, he will play perfectly. If it's a blank he'll always shoot himself, if it's a live round he'll use a saw if he has one, then shoot you. The way for him to know what shell he has is either using a magnifying glass, or if it's the last round in the chamber. He always uses items as soon as he can, though he does conserve items in some situations (he won't use a magnifying glass if he already knows what shell he has, and won't use the saw if he's decided to shoot himself, and only uses the saw once he's made his decision on who to shoot.) If he doesn't know what the round is, he'll do a coin flip to decide who he shoots. However there is a bug/oversight where the beer doesn't clear his memory of what shell he has, so he can identify a round, use a beer, and do the wrong play there (ie, he had a blank, drank beer, then shoots himself with a live round)

Idk how people can lose this game. The ai is pretty bad, the items are very op. If someone somehow messrs up this game then they're just bad at math.

It’s kinda cool how the concept of the game helps explain the way the AI acts, they push their luck too much sometimes and it bites their ass. Like a gambling addict

I’m salty and coping because of how damn lucky Markiplier was with the AI. Everytime I play double or nothing, my Dealer keeps getting all the power ups and also keeps making the absolute perfect decisions every round. My Dealer definitely seems to mind losing.

the dealer's AI works like this: 1. The dealer will always use any and all the items he can at any turn, he uses them in the order he gets them (which we can't see) 2. If he uses a magnifying glass, sees it's a blank, then uses a beer and racks the shotgun, he STILL thinks it's a blank and will shoot himself anyway (same with if it's a live, he'll shoot the player no matter what) 3. The dealer's AI DOES NOT KNOW STATISTICS! Every time it's his turn he flips a coin and shoots either himself or the player, he only knows what the very last shell is

@@KlausWayland there is a full AI breakdown video on delightful kissboy's channel, with another video on correcting the mistakes he makes explaining the ai (basically only the item usage order as in the original video, he says it's random when it's not), and it says the exact same thing this comment does

He didn’t miscount, he just assumed odds were in his favour, as he knew it was a 50% chance of shooting a live round. Edit: most of the time, 50% usually means shooting a live round

The dealer tosses a coin if he doesn't know what the round is, always knows what it is when it's the last round, and uses items as soon as reasonable. There's one glitch I know of, where if he sees a blank with a magnifying glass and chugs a beer to clear it, he still thinks it's a blank in the chamber so will invariably shoot himself.

i rarely comment on youtube, but i have seen someone use “death” as a name, and when they played using that name, they had an easter egg when they lost all their lives. i won’t spoil it, but i think having the “easter egg names” are only triggered by death sequences or etc in the game as long as you’re using the name when you start. it doesn’t just automatically give you an easter egg, at least i don’t think it does

The reason is mark is so good is he's able to do critical thinking and math skills as well as just have insane luck, all 3 very important for this type of game

I love when I played this game the dealer made every tactical decision in existence, even some that I didn’t see coming. Then when Mark plays he shoots himself when Marks handcuffed.

For anyone wondering why the Dealer is kind of dumb and often shoots itself, it's because it's not calculating probability like a human would. The way it functions is this: 1. Dealer will use items in the order it received them. Oldest items are used first at the earliest opportunity. For example, if it gets 2 handcuffs in a row, it will use one on the player, and then once they are uncuffed use it again. If it gets a couple of magnifying glasses in a row, it will use one, then because it already knows the current round it won't use the other one but will instead skip to the next available item (beer, cigarette, etc) and then use the other magnifying glass on the next turn. This is why you can see it do things like drink 3 beers in a row or use cigarettes multiple times in one turn, because those are valid moves and it wants to burn through items as soon as it can if it is able to use them 2. When using the magnifying glass, it doesn't actually reset what the AI thinks if it does something like drinking beer, so if it sees a blank then chugs a beer which changes it a live round, the AI still thinks it's a blank and will always shoot itself. If it sees a live round it will always shoot the player even if it changed to a blank because it believes it is still a live round. This is why it will also waste knives on blanks or proceed to shoot itself and do extra damage, particularly if it got a knife before a magnifying glass 3. The AI only actually knows what the _last_ round in the shotgun is. If it sees the current round via the magnifying glass it will act accordingly, but the only one it knows for certain is the last round when you reach it. If it doesn't know the round (no magnifying glass and it's not the last round) it will basically do a coin flip on whether to shoot the player or itself. This implies that while the player can see how many of each round there is at the beginning, the AI cannot and thus doesn't know if all the live or blank rounds have been used/ejected and instead runs on the assumption that there is always both still available

7:30 , there is a youtube video that goes into the deals AI more in-depth but the tl;dr is that it spams items (except knife which it only uses when it is going to try to shoot you) and chooses who to shoot with a 50/50 coin toss. The only times it doesn't shoot 50/50 is when it knows what the next bullet is, it only knows the next bullet when using the magnifying glass and when it's on the final bullet. There is also a funny bug he can do where he sees a blank with the magnifying glass and then drinks beer he will still think that the blank is the next bullet.

That's not a bug. If it isn't the last round, the dealer doesn't know. So it's just 50/50 to shoot the player or themself. Half of all shots after the dealer racks a blank will go to themself, unless there's only one shot left.

The crazy thing is I've seen a few other people play this game and the Dealer was always way smarter with them than he is with Mark. For example, when watching 8-BitRyan play this game, the Dealer almost seemed like he was strategizing like Mark and only made a couple of bad calls when choosing to shoot himself.
