BTS’s manager actually mentioned that songs are getting shorter and shorter these days because its easier to chart well but it is hard for BTS to do so because they have so many members and each have vocal colours and they want to show the each artist and their choreography and BTS wanted to show the extent of their skills. BTS know shorter songs do better but they just prefer for longer songs

The part that makes me a little sad is that they only made the performance of the song, it was other people who gave life to the music.

The fact they added their production crew at the end shows they don't care about breaking the Butter records. Thanks for acknowledging this. It's one the reasons we LOVE BTS. They genuinely love to make music and make people happy.

They just want to share good vibes with that minute long footage of them dancing together, this is probably their main goal. They've always been like this, rather than wanting to break all the records at any cost, they want to stay true to themselves and deliver a genuine message to us. And that's the main reason why we army are fighting for them since years and we're trying to give them back the love they show for us by breaking those records

You said it: BTS does not care about the politics of selling music or breaking records on charts/lists. BTS only wants to give meaningful songs that Army will enjoy. Not only is this another banger for this summer, but the song and music is like a hopeful message to the world as we start to live post pandemic. Love our boys! 💜

Your comment on marketing - throughout this journey in the rabbithole that is BTS, I have constantly been amazed at how they keep breaking moulds on traditional strategies, marketing logic of the music industry. What would not normally work for other artists, they make it work for themselves! But then, no other artist has such a symbiotic relationship with their fans. Army is very much a reason why they can do anything they want to coz they have Army right behind them every step of the way! :)

There is a special dance in it that is made from sign language so that the deaf can understand the meaning of the song as well. Making two hands and spreading the palms of the hands means "dancing". international sign language for fun, dance, & peace . #PermissiontoDance #bts

Agreed not sure why they do this in production . Their live always sounds better with less production on their voices . I didn’t like Dynamite on first listen because of this. But grew to like it more after hearing more live versions

This song is a collab with ED Sheeran...He has been literally talking about it in You Tube clips. It also connects with Butter lyric-wise. BTS' main goal has always been to share their music to their fans and to spread love and positivity. That's why the length of the song/MV is not really very much a concern. They've had extended versions of their other MVs before. Breaking records just naturally follows especially for a song like PTD because it's a happy song. It makes people feel happy so they will listen to it on repeat. The MV is just full of happiness so people will watch it on repeat as well. And I guess this is what differentiates BTS from other artists. When others create music solely to earn money, BTS creates music to share a message.

If you hadn’t noticed the people in the video were basically “essential workers”. So at the end the members also included their “essential workers” the staff who help them keep bringing their music and content to the masses during trying times for everyone. It was heartwarming ☺️

Exactly! I think they are already so happy with Butter's success they just wanna release this for good vibes and it's ARMY's 8th birthday today too! The song is so hopeful, if you watched the teaser this is about the beginning of a new era in 2022 where everyone can dance again (because no more covid, HOPEFULLY!) And the fact that the dance steps includes sign languages makes my heart melt and made me cry. I love them so much! Thanks for reacting!

I wrote on another reactors page, that my take on this song is that in the past 18 months we have had to have permission to do everything from shopping to dining to going to church. New rules…must wear a mask. The world was slapped, but people are resilient and we will rise from these ashes, but as we are rising……why not do it dancing. Ed Sheehan is brilliant. It’s hard for BTS to write English lyrics, so they asked Ed Sheehan to write a song of hope for the new world. BTS, with other than a few songs have always had meaning in their songs. The purple ballon had great meaning…it was in the teaser!

Hmmmm-mm... it is that long because when streaming, everyone knows you do not play it on repeat or your views will be dis-counted cos YT thinks it's a bot. You should watch other stuff in between looking at their vids. The song was written by Ed Sherran for them. The ending was also a nice shout out to their production crew who were all dancing behind them. That is why that extra footage was included.

I think you are right that with this song, BTS don’t really care about setting a new streaming records or something. It clearly showsthat they don’t care about increasing streaming numbers when they release their live performances footage of new song along with others just few hours after release of their new song & they are more focus on their fans, Army to enjoy their new hopeful, fun, joyous & happy song on the ARMY’s birthday, 9th of July & really celebrate this wonderful day! BTS didn’t hold it until 24 hours passed to achieve new streaming record but just release every contents they have prepared for fans to enjoy & celebrate their happy anniversary. That is why we love them & cherish them so much! 💜💜💜

When I watched the release the MV immediately took me back to Justin Timberlakes Cant stop the feeling MV.. The addition of people vibing to the song and interaction. Full of happiness. Loving PTD

I love love this song, but I agree with you. I wish the vocals were less produced. So, I am excited to see the live version, that we'll see in less than an hour! As for the last part, I'd like to think that the people dance in the background were the crew who helped making the video! I think BTS just wanna ask everyone to join them to dance together. The storyline of this song is supposed to be about the future, the end of the pandemic, where we all can finally take off the masks, dance, kiss, and get together like we used to do. At the beginning of the MV teaser you can see Suga is reading a newspaper from 2022. So really, I think BTS just want to share the joy with everyone in the world. Hoping that we'll hang on for a lil bit longer, until the wait is finally over. :)

I'm loving the cowboy/country style they have going on and I'm also giving props to the stylist noonas for styling them this way and also props o to the people in the MV as you could see they were clearly havin fun. I'm loving the beat and the line " I don't need permission to dance" will be stuck in my head for ever and always now, also it's such and iconic line and is up there with " Get it, Let it roll". I'm also loving the beat of the music as it'd so happy and upbeat and really summery, it also makes me wanna smile just seeing them have fun. The choreo is so groovy and makes me wanna dance and I just wanna groove with it also as there isn't really that much choreo it's really easy to dance too. I love their MV as it shows the boys having fun with eachother and other people also the vocals are as amazing as ever, I especially love yoongis vocals as he really can sing, and it makes me wanna sing along. It all being English aswell also makes it their 3rd all English song and this one is just as catch as Dynamite and Butter. Also I love the message behind the song ad it basically says no matter what or where you are if you here music you love just dance along to it as you don't need permission to dance and have fun. Us armys are getting so spoilt on our birthday and o just love the guys so much and you can clearly see how much they love us back k by just seeing how hard they work and how they care about us. You'll never get another band like BTS who love their fans so much and who works so hard for them. Thankyou BTS for a wonderful birthday present.

it's jimin, The voice that sucked me into their art. So so so unique, that vocal color in and of itself--its honey crispness and clarity--is so frickin divine.💗

the extra minute is for an upcoming dance challenge. altho, it is very true that they don't put artistic concerns over view counts, they have done a lot of long mvs for the sake of telling stories they need to and delivering messages they need to.

You have to keep in mind songs like Blood Sweat and tears, On, all are long videos with extra content, dance breaks, pauses in the song content, there has been a break in a large percentage of their music videos with story telling, dancing or some other content. So while I understand what your saying, BTS doesnt suffer from the same constraints as other artists as army is such a powerhouse they love the extra content and it doesnt distract from them buying the song, if anything they will enjoy it more and new armies are also facinated as well and look into them more........

My first watch/listen, I thought as you did that maybe there was a tad bit of over production on the vocals. The song took some getting used to for me as it sounded so different from their other songs (which is their usual anyway). However, after a few repeats, I like this song even better than "Butter". Im fine with the production though I hope they do a different treatment of the song/different mix which should be interesting.

they included the last part bc this song is basically a gift for ARMY, today, July 9, as it is the date our fandom was made/named. we can see that the mv is so fun and all about the ending of this pandemic soon so we can reunite again. This is such a fun song and the most wholesome gift, people will be able to receive during this trying times. With that, i conclude that they made a great song, and it will still break the music industry.

I absolutely love this song, but I agree with you I would have liked less processing on the vocals. One if the things I live about them is how clearly identifiable each of their voices are, and I feel like a lot of those differences have been smoothed out in this song. I do love hearing all our rappers sing though!

In terms of the song length and the streaming guidelines - well, for it to count, you can't loop the song otherwise it'd be detected as bot behavior and your streams will be a waste. You'd have to create a playlist and include other songs, like 2-3 songs in between. So if you want to stream this particular song more, then probably choose a setlist of their songs that are shorter than most.

Such a good point about the length of the video and why the metrics will be different from butter. It would really be difficult to beat butters record when this is two minutes longer. I don’t think they really had too lofty goals with this song...first of all its b track for the butter CD and it’s released on Army’s birthday...then the addition of the dance with their staff in the end...I see this as simply a gift for fans, thank you for their staff and a simple feel good song that is much needed as we start to transition to post covid era.

you got it right in your first few mins of the song. it was impossible to break the 24 hr record of Butter nor Dynamite. this is 5 mins including the long dananananana and dancing with their production crew and staff. if BTS or BH intention was just to break records, they would have stopped before the long danananananana at the end and not feature their BH family. but the objective was to show inclusivity (people from different walks of life), children, diversity and more importantly their BH family. they also included sign languages of joy, dance and peace in their choreography. so it was fine not to break records as long as the MV will be fun and heart-warming. because of this, the more I admired BTS and BH. An FYI...they literally built the diner just for this MV.

@sofia. You know, I watch a lot of BTS reaction channels and I noticed a lot of them didn't stick to the 24 hr etiquette for this song... and I'm talking about channels that I consider true Armys. They did say "please go stream the MV before or after watching my reaction" but still... i was surprised that some of these channels went ahead and put up their reaction before the 24 hrs. Have you noticed that too?

It doesn't matter! Since you can't watch the song on repeat you have to watch something in between and reaction videos are great for that! If you don't want to watch it, don't watch it, if you want to watch it, watch in.

@@MissAlesja85 Actually it does matter. The 24 hr courtesy rule isn't just for Army to concentrate on streaming, it's more for the non fans. If the one time, they are watching the video is through a reactor's video rather than on the original HYBE channel, the MV loses that view number.

I love the message of the song. But it's not something I'd listen to on a daily basis. It sounds generic pop/kpop to me and I agree with your constructive criticisms. But it's nice that a lot of people loves it. I personally like it but not that much. I'm more curious about their album because one thing I learned about Bts is that majority of the time, their B-sides are waaay better than their title track and songs with mv's. Tbh, I liked it on first listening but after all the hype it felt odd. It was not what I expected. There's a lot of autotune and the retro feel threw me. After the 3rd listening I was humming and wanting to sing and dance along. I don't have the musician's hearing so I looked forward to your reaction. I agree about the vocal production. It was a tad too much fiddling IMHO - whoever was finishing it kind of forget where to stop - which muddied their beautiful, individual voices. (I admit I'm also missing their native Korean, even if I don't know the language, for similar reasons, though I do give them HUGE props for expressing themselves as well as they do in English.) Still, I *love* this song, so I'm eager to hear their stages and lives. (Oh heck, but I was eager for that, anyway. 💜)

Felt the same way. Came here looking for a different take on their vocals, and finding out a few others feel the same way. I'm use to hearing the dynamic vocals of BTS. On this number, I felt it was unusually over-produced, sounding very compressed, while making it hard to tell differences between their voices, except Jimin. Overall, I love the song. Just needs an extra punch, which they've consistently delivered with upbeat numbers in the past. As far as visuals are concerned, I'm one of those fans who prefer only to see BTS on the screen, no extras please. I might be wrong, but this music video feels like it was done by a different director. Having said that, I love everything they put out due to the extreme amount of time, skills, love, and energy they put into their music. Best of all, they do it for us. Love BTS. ✿♥‿♥✿

The Butterful Getaway live performance ( kzread.info/dash/bejne/n2p1yKuTmqyyd5M.html ) was much better!! Love this song, but they done the boys dirty w/ the over-processing of their vocals in the MV. JK & RM didn't even really sound like themselves at the beginning.
